Richarlison ends his Vicarage Road goal drought as Will Hughes catches the eye against West Ham. Elsewhere, the heroics of Heurelho Gomes helps the Hornets to a rare clean sheet as David Moyes’ tenure at West Ham begins with defeat.

Richarlison ends home drought

Such a reliable source of goals and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points on his travels, Richarlison finally found the net at home after failing to produce a single effort on target in his previous five at Vicarage Road.

Owned by 18%, the young Brazilian’s home output was of particular concern bearing in mind that his next two visitors are Manchester United and Spurs in Gameweek 14-15.

Yet Sunday’s strike maintained a remarkable run of consistency – he’s now delivered attacking points in six of the last seven Gameweeks ahead of next weekend’s trip to Newcastle United.

Heightening his appeal for that Magpies clash is that, away from home, Richarlison has averaged 7.2 points per match and is the league’s top player for shots inside the opposition box (20).

On the downside, he also has a testing trip to Burnley directly after those United and Spurs matches. But the case for holding is very convincing, with the fixtures turning in his favour from Gameweek 17 once again.

At a price of 6.5, Richarlison is now the top FPL midfielder for value in terms of points per million and sits fifth in the midfield standings on 66 points.

Despite that, his inability to claim bonus points continues to dent the South American’s captaincy potential. He has scored or assisted in eight of the first 12 Gameweeks but has earned bonus points on just two occasions.

Today’s BPS haul was limited by two shots off target and two fouls conceded, while he was also tackled twice.

Hughes impresses in tactical tweak

Handed a central support role alongside Richarlison as Marco Silva moved to 3-4-2-1 against the Hammers, Will Hughes overshadowed his more popular team-mate thanks to a goal, assist and maximum bonus.

But Watford’s form on the road suggests that Silva could revert to his usual 4-2-3-1 at St James’ Park – only Man City (16) and Chelsea (14) have scored more away goals than the Hornets’ 12.

Regardless of formation, Hughes (4.6) now looks likely to be on the teamsheet for the trip to Tyneside after months on the periphery.

Handed just 10 minutes in the opening 10 Gameweeks, Hughes has now started both of Watford’s last two. However, Roberto Pereyra made a return to the bench and replaced the former Derby County man late on; he will doubtless threaten Hughes’ start in weeks to come.

Andre Gray was again a starter up front as Troy Deeney served the second match in a three-match suspension. Gray’s scuffed assist for Hughes’ opener was his second in as many matches.

Gomes keeps it clean

Silva can thank Heurelho Gomes for their first clean sheet in eight attempts after he denied Cheick Kouyate and Marko Arnautovic with superb stops.

Indeed, David Moyes can at least take encouragement from the fact that his side had three big chances today – they had managed just six in their previous six road trips under Slaven Bilic.

For the hosts, the decision to bench Jose Holebas came as a surprise as Marvin Zeegelaar (4.4) earned his first outing of the season at left wing-back. Holebas had played every minute of the previous 10 matches he had been available for, only missing the Gameweek 3 encounter against Brighton due to suspension.

Ranked top for crosses (82) and successful crosses (17) among defenders, Holebas is second only to Ben Davies for key passes (15 to 22) at the back.

Watford’s primary corner taker over the first 11 (he had taken 33 of their first 50), Holebas’ absence saw Hughes also claim dead-ball duties, taking all three of Watford’s corners.

Zeegelaar impressed on his first start, picking up two bonus points on his debut having won three tackles. Kiko Femenía – our preferred option among Silva’s defence – picked up a single bonus point but hobbled off late on with a knock.

Elsewhere, Adrian Mariappa – a 4.0 option in FPL – also earned a notable recall in Silva’s three-man defence having been dropped for the previous two outings.

However, like Hughes, Mariappa will surely have strong competition for his starting role with Sebastian Prödl returning from injury to figure on the bench on Sunday. Younes Kaboul is also on the road to recovery, with Silva likely to go into the busy Christmas period with the option to rotate his centre-backs.

    Hola amigos!

    I need your wisdom:
On my defence I'm getting rid of Gomez (LIV) for Mariappa in order to release funds to transfer Fellaini and buy Richarlison and transfer Kane for Agüero or Jesús.

My doubt here is, should I go for Agüero or Jesús or should I keep Kane?

    Gracias!

      This is my current team:
      Elliot - Lössl
Jones - Azpi - Ward - Mbemba - Gomez (Liv)
      Silva - Salah - Ericksen - Fellaini - Carrol

I want to get rid of Fellaini and Ericksen and get Richarlison and Sané since I have 2FT. But to do that I will have to do a -4 a replace Rashford with Abrahamm which by the way they both have 50pts.

What do you think mis amigos, should I go with the moves?

Wait for Jones news and then look at a switch to Otamendi. An alternative idea if he's out could be to bring in Sane for Silva if that interests you and then monitor the Christensen situation, if he's nailed then you can just get him a gw later and play mee this gw

    Morning DZers

If Abraham is ruled out next week what is my best option

Play Mee (ARS) in a 4-4-2
Play Gross (mun) in a 3-5-2

Id do Abraham to Wilson. Has the most potential over the next 4 gw's, Swansea can't score, Abraham was never a great pick imo.

I like Niasse more than Wilson but he could be suspended so wait and see

Has anyone been watching Pool lately?

Have Vardy that I'll need to get rid of after West Ham, and Firmino is the only player in a similar price range. Pool have good fixtures, but he's been staying away from the points?

He's got good numbers in the past. What's happening?

    1. Pep says
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 19 days ago

Don't get Firmino. Downgrade Vardy. There's lots of options emerging at the minute. Wilson and Niasse look the best options imo but Niasse could be facing suspension so gold tough and wait for news.

      1. Wilshere Knowledge
        • 12 Years
        8 years, 19 days ago

Wilson seems dodgy coming back from a knee injury, don't you think? King, Defoe, Afobe all competing as well.

And Niasse is risky with the manager situation up in the air. And I like Calvert-Lewin in real terms.

        1. Pep says
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 19 days ago

You're right, that's why I'm not rushing to get any of them in but if I had Vardy, I'd be looking to downgrade to move funds into midfield and Wilson over the next 4 could be rewarding.

I think goalkeeper transfers are largely a waste.

Daniels is being picked up because of attacking potential and bappage during the good fixtures, to then invariably be sold once the greenies end.

    Reasons to get Hazard.
    - In form
    - Midfielder playing as a striker
    - Playing for a top side
    - Quality around to assist him
    - Quality around to finish his passes
    - Easy to transfer out for any mid when needed.

On the other hand, he has history as an unreliable captain, and he'll no doubt be more of a 10 if and when Pedro and Willian come in, and there's plenty of midfielders scoring in the price bracket below him.

I'm deffo dumping Vardy, but he's a great option against the arse-gravy that is West Ham. 1 more GW then dropkick the crackhead out your team.

triple United very odd, but yes I would save and then move on one of the defenders and Lewin for Wilson and a cheaper one.

Want to keep the 3 Man U one more time but yes, likely going Valencia to Cahill next week giving me 3 Chelsea for that dream run.

Doosra keeps on stressing how bad of an option RLC is.

Yet he has got 2 assists in last 3 😉 Wonder what he has to say about him now

If you're having a premium front 3 and a heavy backline, RLC as a 4th looks great too.

Atleast you wont be benching his assists/goals

Depends what you do with the rest of the money if you have him as 4th mid I suppose.A few went 4-3-3 with RLC /Carroll early doors (myself included).

Thank you all. D for sure, maybe with Mee, as some of my ML rivals needs to play with BUR def or even 2 so that could be good differential.

Guys, what would you do with this team:

    Pope/Elliot
    Moreno Otamendi Jones Dann Dunk
    Sane Richarlison Salah RLC TCarroll
    Morata Aguero Kane

    2FT, 0 INB

Wait for midweek CL games and see if we can read anything about City's striker situation for the weekend. If not, I'd downgrade Aguero and upgrade TC. To Hazard and Niasse for example.
