The ScoutCast – Episode 255 – Wilder

Wildcards are very much active among the ScoutCast crew, and while only three of us make this latest episode, all five are in play ahead of the Double Gameweeks.

Not surprisingly, our rebuilding programme dominates the discussion as Jonty and Andy join me to reveal our current squads and our chosen strategy leading into the remaining seven Gameweeks.

In an exhaustive and in-depth episode, the three of us also look back on the success of the Free Hit in Gameweek 31. Then we attempt to offer a balanced view on the variety of chip tactics from this point on, with a team-by-team analysis of the player targets to consider.

We fail miserably of course, with our own bias no doubt shining through, though the conclusion is an uplifting one: whatever your chosen route with the chips to Gameweek 38, we will all win out in the end.

Unless you don’t have your Wildcard and Free Hit, in which case you’re now consigned to spending the next two months behind the sofa and hate us all anyway.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Last midfielder decision. Which of these would you put in just until 34, just for these fixtures:

    A) Eriksen. No rotation risk. (che, stk, CITY, bri)
    B) Son. Rotation risk. (che, stk, CITY, bri)
    C) Gross. No rotation risk. (LEI, HUD, cry, tot)
    D) Mkhi. Rotation risk. (STK, SOU, new, WHAM)

ON WC, looking at BB 34, FH 35 and TC 37
    Nothing ITB

    De Gea, Ryan
    Vertonghen, Christensen, Tarkowski, Morgan, Lowton
    Son, Mahrez, Salah, Willian, Kenedy
    Lukaku, Aubameyang, Murray

Will move Aubameyang > Vardy or Kane in GW34.

Looking quite template but any suggestions of where I should improve?

    DDG Ryan

    Alonso Verthongen Bailly Morgan Lowton

    Salah Mahrez Son Gross Willian

    Aubameyang Barnes Vardy

That leaves me 1.1m in the bank to do Aubameyang -> Lukaku in gwk 34.

If I go Mustafi over Verthongen, getting Kane back is slightly easier (Gross -> Ki)

    Pope (Foster)
    VVD Otamendi Lowton (Maguire S.Cook)
    Mahrez Sterling Salah Shaq (Millivojevic)
    Firmino Mounie Wilson

    Used FT to get Lowton...

    A) Leave as is till next week
    B) Upgrade a fwd for -4
    C) Upgrade a mid for -4

Have FH so not worried about the blank.

    1. *sigh*
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 2 months ago

Lowton was maybe a bad move as he only has one dgw.If you’ve a fh but no wc start getting A’s many players in with 2 dgws as you can and play your fh in 35.

      1. Pitch Perfect
        • 6 Years

Yeah, needed a defender who has good fixtures in 32 (wba) and 33 (wat). Don't think those with two doubles have good fixtures beforehand. But Lowton is cheap so can get more mid/fwd doubles.

No one worth a hit now then?

    Rate my WC template...

    DDG (Ryan)
    Alonso Mee Lowton (Chilwell Dunk)
    Salah Mahrez Willian Son Groß
    Auba Vardy (Barnes)

0.9 ITB for Lukaku in GW34.
Want Morgan instead of Chilwell really but afraid I might be priced out of Luka.

Ta PP. Had Mee since the start and can’t see any better options tbh (suggestions welcome). Also, I rate Burnley’s def (especially with Tark and Pope trying for that plane). Saying that will probably swap 1 for a player with DGW in 37 after FH35.

It's a very tough one. Smalling makes the Kane route earlier but that's no good if its at the expense of points.

Seems everyone on here has ditched Firmino in this DGW chaos. Can't get myself do it. He has done so well fo me and those fixtures looks green, even if no doubles.

I was extremely pro Firmino but after looking in more depth over the last while, they actually score relatively similar.

Plus it save you a transfer down the line and gives you a bit of extra money that will be handy when Kane returns

I think i will keep him. It is a tough decision. Alternatives like Vardy has better (more) fixtures. But, what makes me keep him is simply that the whole team plays so well and he is in great form
