Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Quarter Final Draw

After six closely fought rounds, just eight managers remain in our Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

The most eye-catching battle in the last 16 round saw the top placed manager Always Captain Kun, who is currently 18th in the overall rankings, defeated 67-64 by 59,811 ranked BroTown_Tindersticks.

Both played the Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35’s reduced set of matches with their Manchester City selection proving pivotal to the final outcome.

While BroTown_Tindersticks’s acquisition of David Silva netted him 10 points, Always Captain Kun’s opted for the non-playing Leroy Sane and had to settle for a solitary point from his replacement off the bench, Watford defender Kiko Femenia.

Next up for this giant-killer is another tough encounter, against 1,113 ranked Batmaniac, who emphatically saw off 310,615 placed minnow Meribenige in the sixth round.

Both have the Triple Captain chip to play but it would seem likely that they will be saving this for Gameweek 37’s Double Gameweek.

In 764 spot sits UTK, who is now the highest ranked manager left in the competition.

His last 16 score of 81 points, thanks to the deployment of his Free Hit chip, was the highest of the round and sets him up with a quarter-final tie against 35,991 placed 2EyedTurk.

UTK will be hoping for a strong showing for his Spurs assets, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli against Watford on Monday night. They will also be hoping that Manchester City inflict modest damage to the West Ham defence, as they are currently without any of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning attack.

In contrast, 2 Eyed Turk is without any Spurs attackers but has three Manchester City assets, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, already in place for Gameweek 36.

Dmcqt defeated N@th by a single point in their last 16 clash. Next up for this 1,420 placed manager is a quarter-final encounter with Boxing Can Girouds, who is ranked 13,546 places behind him.

Both used their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35 and currently go into the next set of matches without any Manchester City options. But while Dmcqt has now used up all his chips, Boxing Can Girouds has his Triple Captain chip to call on, though again, this looks likely to be saved for a potential semi-final tie should they progress.

Mr Cookie (rank 3,264) saw off Lamela and Consuela in the last 16 by 65 – 41 to book a place in the quarter finals against PetesBlair (rank 7,564).

They are another pair that used their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35 and are also both without Manchester City cover.

Investment in Guardiola’s attack looks likely, but it could be that Spurs assets decide their tie. While Mr Cookie has Alli and Son, PetesBlair will be hoping for a strong showing from Kane and Christian Eriksen.

The full last 16 results can be found here, while the quarter final draw can be found here.

    Most important transfer here?

    DDG
    Chilwell Vertonghen Long
    Son Mahrez Willian Milivojevic
    Kane Lukaku Barnes

    Lingard, Tarkowski, Alonso

Obviously looking to Sterling / Jesus / Salah but hard to get in more than 1...

I'd start with Lukaku to Jesus and wait on news for Salah.

If Salah plays, downgrade Alonso and bring in Salah for Mahrez. Otherwise gtg.

    Opinions lads? 0.0, 1FT. Cheers!

    Ddg, Ryan
    Alonso, Bailly, morgan, Dunk, Lowton
    Salah, Son, Mahrez, Willian, Kenedy
    Lukaku, Vardy, Barnes

    How does Lukaku+Bailly+Mahrez--->Kane+Naughton+Sane(-4) sounds?

Just so uncertain on Sane - got burned by him on FH last week.
Hopefully he'll play but may not be nailed, particularly with him expected to play every game @ WC.

Best spurs defender to get is ?.

    A) Baviea.

    B) Vertonghen.

I fancy bavies even if he starts 3 of next 4. due to strong attacking returns. Thoughts?

Bavies is more fun to watch than Vert, and if he loses a match, he could make up for it in 1 assist.
      Get Bavies

Baily is more nailed over Smalling

      remember that?

Chance Davies imo. On corners, gets forward and decent chance, even if it's one game. If Rose does play, spurs are far worse defensively anyways so get Bavies and thank me later

I'd like to see Panorama get involved, the day someone copied and pasted a tweet then posted it on a chat room only for it to be deleted must surely rank as one of the great scandals of our times. One can only imagine the devastating emotional scars left behind by such a cruel and cold action. The wider community should not rest until a full and thorough investigation has taken place with the remit to start criminal proceedings if applicable. My heart goes out to you BF i hope and pray that somehow you can get through this travesty and maybe in time find a coping strategy. that will provide you with an inner peace to allow you to move on.

A'noon all, which one for DGW37? 1.4 ITB

    DDG (Ryan)
    X - Azpil - Morgan (VDH, Lowton)
    X - Sterling - Son - Willian (Kenedy)
    X - Kane - Jesus

    A - Vert, KDB, J Ayew
    B - Vert, Eriksen, J Ayew
    C - Vert, Salah, J Ayew
    D - Smalling, 4.5 (bench), Lukaku - play 433
    E - Other

I'm thinking A. Vert will be Bavies if rose is out.

    Ta !

    DDG / Ryan
    Alonso* / Bailly* / Morgan / Lowton / Long
    Mahrez / Son / Willian / Gross / L Cook
    Kane / Jesus / Vardy

    Alonso or Bailly to:
    A) Vertonghen
    B) Davies
    C) Smalling

Was thinking about a City defender, but that's a bit of a mixed bag now.

Current plan is probably to hold Alonso for the DGW, but sell along with Mahrez after 37 as part of a plan to have Salah for the final week.

Thoughts on Mahrez to Sane? Unfortunately can't afford Sterling unless it's a hit. Leaves 4.1 for a defender no stand outs in that range.

    Couple of quick questions:
    1) Vardy > Jesus worth a hit? as it is as i might do gross/mahrez/vardy > hojberg/jesus/sterling (-4) next gw so might as well take it now. only benefit of delaying it is if we get new info that alters my transfer plans for next gw.

    2) Alonso or Willian? If i had to retain one of them..which one? both 7m...any other player around 7m that offers more value? not keen on arnie..

    3A) Alonso Sterling Sane Vardy
    3B) Alonso Willian Sterling Jesus
    3C) Willian Sterling Sane Vardy

As a non-Kane owner do you think i should wait for his performance against Watford and decide if i'll get him in the next gw and get Jesus now?

    Transfer ideas?

    DDG --- Ryan
Maguire ● Cedric ● Lowton ---- Smalling Alonso
    Son ● Pogba ● Mahrez ● Willian --- Gross
    Kane ● Vardy ● Barnes

A: Gross + Vardy >> hojberg (benchfodder) + Jesus (-4)..will revert to 4-4-2 going forward
B: Mahrez >> Sane...but leaves me slightly stuck next gw as i will have to choose between Sterling or Jesus
C: Alonso + Vardy >> Laporte + Jesus (-4)..but then stuck with gross/willian next gw and only 0.5m itb
    D: something else?

Half the people left in the cup haven't made a single post. Is this site dominated by lurkers? Is there anything wrong with lurking? Should they contribute? These are the questions that need answering.

    A) Lukaku, Mahrez, Christensen > Jesus, Sterling, Davies
    Will be -8. Worth it?

    B) Or Alonso/Valencia > Davies
    Will be FT
And Mahrez, Lukaku > Sterling, Jesus next week

    Any tips?
