A trio of Croatian differentials were the Fantasy winners on Wednesday night as they emerged victorious from a World Cup semi-final with England.
None of those involved in Croatia’s goals had more than six percent ownership, while the highly-owned Three Lions options were left disappointed.
We’ve got all the goals, assists and Fantasy talking points from match 62 of this World Cup.
ENGLAND 1-2 CROATIA
TOP-SCORING PLAYERS:
- Ivan Perisic (£8.5m) – 9 points
- Kieran Trippier (£5.5m) – 7 points
- Mario Mandzukic (£8.9m) – 5 points
- Sime Vrsaljko (£5.5m) – 5 points
Ivan Perisic (£8.5m) was the stand-out Fantasy star on Wednesday as he scored and assisted in Croatia’s World Cup semi-final win.
He latched onto Sime Vrsaljko’s (£5.5m) 68th minute cross to level the match, and it was him whose header was converted by Mario Mandzukic (£8.9m) in extra-time.
Kieran Trippier (£5.5m) was the only England player to register Fantasy returns after he gave the Three Lions a fifth-minute lead with an excellent free-kick.
Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£8.9m) both had chances to kill the game off in the first-half but they couldn’t convert.
Croatia managed the match expertly in the second-half and extra-time especially, asserting control in midfield and pegging England’s wide players back.
In extra-time John Stones (£5.9m) had a 99th minute header cleared off the line by Vrsaljko and Kane’s back-post headed chance went wide.
Despite the fact that England will meet Belgium in the third/fourth place play-off on Saturday, Kane and Jesse Lingard (£7.5m) are among the most sold players for the final Gameround.
101,000+ managers have removed Kane, who still leads the race for the Golden Boot while Lingard has been moved on by 67,000+.
Croatian talisman and penalty taker Luka Modric (£9.1m) has now risen to 51.2 percent ownership, while Dejan Lovren (£5.0m) remains in 24.6 percent of teams despite the fact he has not kept a clean sheet since Gameround 2.
ENGLAND XI (3-1-4-2): Pickford; Maguire, Stones, Walker (Vardy 112’); Henderson (Dier 97’); Young (Rose 90’), Alli, Lingard, Trippier; Sterling (Rashford 74’), Kane.
CROATIA XI (4-1-4-1): Subasic; Strinic (Pivaric 95’), Vida, Lovren, Vrsaljko; Brozovic; Perisic, Rakitic, Modric (Badelj 119’), Rebic (Kramaric 101’); Mandzukic (Corluka 115’).
