Christmas differentials on offer at Spurs and Man United

As we draw closer to the halfway point of the season, it becomes more common to see Fantasy Premier League teams that look similar in their core player composition.

This makes it harder for many to make up ground in their respective mini-leagues.

Therefore, especially when there is a short fixture turnaround time, there’s a need to identify viable differentials that can give you that edge against your mini-league rivals. Here’s three that may be of interest to you…

Jesse Lingard

Price: £6.7m

Ownership: (2.2%)

With Mourinho’s high profile exit from Old Trafford earlier this week, an opportunity has arisen for their current crop of first-team players to prove their worth and make a good impression on their new caretaker manager.

No doubt some Fantasy managers will be looking to Paul Pogba as someone that is most keen to make an instant impact.

However, he isn’t the only one. Look no further than Jesse Lingard (£6.7m) as a budget option with that recent form to boot, as demonstrated with two goals in his last three league games.

Lingard has played more minutes in his last league three matches (233) than he has done in his previous six games combined.

His injury issues from earlier this season seem to be behind him for now and he is an integral member of Manchester United’s first team squad.

Lingard is capable of attacking centrally, as well as on both flanks, which validates his dynamism.

I expect him to be an initial first-team pick under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, even if substituted off before the end of each match as was often the case under Mourinho’s tenure.

Finally, his good run of upcoming fixtures also further supports his status as a viable differential option – Cardiff (away), Huddersfield (home), Bournemouth (home), Newcastle (away).

Dele Alli

Price: £8.9m

Ownership: 3.6%

Despite not being able to start a number of matches earlier this season, it’s still somewhat surprising to think that a player of Dele Alli’s (£8.9m) pedigree is owned by less than 5% of FPL managers.

He has been a Fantasy football stalwart in the last three seasons, having registered 37 league goals and 36 assists.

Not all of Tottenham’s key players have been fully fit at the same time this season, including Alli. It goes without saying that he, Eriksen and Kane complement each other and Tottenham are at their strongest when they are fully fit and playing regularly in the first team, which seems to be the case now.

Even if Alli hasn’t matched his number of goals and assists at this stage from last season, he still remains a threat with 416 touches in the opposition half, of which 249 have been in the final third.

He will certainly ask serious questions of Everton, Bournemouth, Wolves and Cardiff’s defences during the next four games.

His goal against Arsenal in the EFL Cup earlier this week was a positive indication that he is still capable of getting attacking returns.

Going forward, I expect Tottenham to win more comfortably as opposed to grinding out victories with Alli greatly improving his FPL score.

With all of that said, any potential punters will have to be wary of rotation.

Tottenham fielded a strong team earlier this week during the EFL Cup tie against Arsenal, with Alli playing 90 minutes. I think his minutes will be managed over Christmas to some degree even if it simply means starting but not playing ninety minutes.

Robert Snodgrass

Price: £5.4m

Ownership: 2.6%

You may be forgiven to think that Felipe Anderson is West Ham’s stand out attacking player at this moment in time, but in some ways, he’s quietly being outdone by his team-mate who has a lower price and is owned by far fewer FPL managers.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.4m) has rolled back the years and reminded us what he is capable of.

He has registered two goals and three assists in his last four games and has in fact scored five more FPL points than Anderson during the same period. It’s no wonder he has featured in our Scout Picks over the last month.

Admittedly, Snodgrass’ lack of touches in the penalty box this season is a bit of a concern (24 from 994 minutes played) and you probably wouldn’t consider him if you already have Anderson.

However, I fully expect him to remain an attacking threat in his next four games – Watford (home). Southampton (away), Burnley (away) and Brighton (home).

He’s definitely worth considering as a fourth or fifth midfielder option for the festive period. With Andriy Yarmolenko out injured for the long-term and Grady Diangana clearly not ready for regular football, the Scottish international should feature heavily between now and the new year.

Anything you’d change? Planning on Dunk or Kolasinac to Digne or Lovren next week.

    Hamer
    Dunk - Rudiger - Bednarek
    Hazard - Sterling - Richarlison - Son - Sané
    Kane - Chicharito

    Patricio - Ings - Kola - AWB

Kolasinac to be assessed so would you

A Play him with Doherty first on bench
B Use free transfer and get Lovren to play v Wolves.

Liverpool have home games v Newcastle and Arsenal and away to Man City to follow while Kolasinac is away to Brighton and Liverpool and then home to Fulham.

After the midweek fixtures (lineups especially) and the ManU situation I decided to opt for

      Auba + Patterson > Sane + Rashford

Not a crazy risk but makes things interesting enough. Leaves me with the below lineup...

      Fab
      Alonso / Robbo / Kolas / Laporte
      Fraser / Sane (C) / Salah / Haz
      Chicharito / Rashford
      Pereya / Zab / Vokes

        Decent.

I did Alonso and Son to Bednarik and Hazard last night for a hit.

Can't be messing about with wondering if Son will start on the bench. You know where you are with Haz.

Bednarik is a useful enabler and seems to be in favour as a starter under Hassenhuttl or whatever his name is. Gives me enough to do Auba to Kane if Auba blanks again tomorrow.

I like Son a lot - however I'm just concerned he hasn't really been getting minutes at all.
Since the Asian games he's only played a bit part really which is odd as he is class.
One to keep an eye on though.

Depends on your team - what's the thinking on moving salah out.
There isn't a massive difference between them and Rudiger as a gain doesn't really move the needle for me.

Have been thinking of doing Salah to either Hazard or Sterling this week (already own Sane).

With this Kolasinac news I am now thinking of taking a -4 to upgrade to either Luiz or Alonso and fund it by downgrading Salah.

        Thoughts people....Kolasinac and Salah -->
        A) Alonso and Hazard (-4)
        Or
        B) David Luiz and Sterling (-4)

I dived in too early on Kun last week. Worth keeping mainly due to the fact he is fresh and will get a lot of minutes?

Jesus really spoiled the party last week and to be honest he is fresh as well, I can only see heavy rotation and several cameos for both...

Pretty set on Shaq and Rash I think as my punts and fun factor. Can get rid of one if not doing so well and Alonso hauls to upgrade Luiz. Alonso sell value atm is 6.8 so cost 0.2 to get back if i do go end up going for Luiz.

Any sideways transfers I could make?

It increases your rank if you don’t do the transfer as you will be placed higher than those who have more transfers but same points as you

Somehow I need to bench one of the following:

            A. Richarlison (TOT)
            B. Shaqiri (wol)
            C. Mitrovic (new)

            Help!

B I would say, cannot be sure of game time.

As a side issue I watched Kamara v Wesh Ham and thought he did OK, is he going to get the minutes over next few GWs?

              Fab,
              Robbo, Dunk, Digne
Sterling (C), Salah, Anderson, Fraser, Martial
              Auba, Mitro

              Bench: Hart, Jimenez, Bennett, AWB

I've still got my FT. Any changes that need to be made or should I bank for next GW? Thanks in advance.

I would. Chelsea's fixtures are too good and Kola still an injury doubt

                A is the safe option

                B is the exciting option

                  Which in A if so?
                  Don’t think Auba will play?

I’d do both in A, apparently Kola confirmed out.

I have Auba myself, not sure what to do tbh pal. I’m thinking of Brooks and Auba to Hazard and Ings

Stephens and Kane -> Hazard and Robson for free. Worth it?

I’ll use my WC next week to bring Kane back in

              2FT, 0.8m itb, Wildcard available

              Fab, Hamer

              Alonso Robertson Lovren Dunk W.Bissaka

              Hazard(C) Richarlison F.Anderson Fraser Camasara

              Kane Auba(VC) Wilson

Not doing very well (top 30k) but happy with the team. I can't see how to waste a transfer (or 2 transfers because of the available wildcard).

              Any suggestion?

"Sarri says we started in the last two Premier League matches with Hazard as a central striker and he is seeing if it works as a solution. He has explained this to Giroud. Sarri adds that as a solution it seems to be one that works"

Pedro could be amazing value if this persists
