Maddison overcomes injury doubt as Pereira starts in defence for Leicester

James Maddison (£6.6m) has come through his injury doubts to start for Leicester against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The central midfielder was yellow-flagged before the game following comments from Claude Puel in his Thursday press conference.

Maddison starts in the number 10 role for the Foxes as their run of appealing fixtures gets underway this weekend.

Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) was not as fortunate as he missed out on a place in the matchday squad through his knock.

Christian Fuchs (£4.1m) makes just his second start of the season at left-back.

The wide attacking midfield slots are occupied by Harvey Barnes (£5.5m) and Rachid Ghezzal (£5.0m) while a recall for Jamie Vardy (£8.8m) sees Demarai Gray (£5.4m) drop to the bench.

As expected, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m) sits out for Crystal Palace, covered at right-back by Joel Ward (£4.3m).

Further up the field for the Eagles, there is a first start for Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m).

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Evans, R Pereira; Tilemans, Ndidi; Barnes, Maddison, Ghezzal; Vardy.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; van Aanholt, Sakho, Tomkins, Ward; Schlupp, McArthur, Milivojevic; Zaha, Batshuayi, Townsend.

      Leicester will get points over the next few days.

      Really, though, any side outside the top 6 is going to be pretty unreliable on a week to week basis.

      Chances are, next week players like Anderson, Perreira et al will score well.

    Maddison is awful player. You see better players in amateur leagues. He ruined every Leicester attack.

        Agree. 99% english players are overratted. Brooks is better for class.

        Maddy is slow, have awful making decision, awful shot etc.

      think implied cs odds were about 35% so when u factor in bonus/attack potential not neccessarily unjustified. just hasnt worked out

    Annoyed didn’t stick any cash on palace win. This is such a predictable result. Lei strong against top half teams and terrible against lower half. Palace not too bad these days either.

          It's a bit much but perfect replacement for AWB if he and Sakho are out for long enough to justify it and Palace are good for your chip strategy. He was a very popular option in preseason haha

      Glad i didn't go either.... Advice to everyone- go with your gut- don't be influenced by those on here. You ask a question and get a reply from an unkown- not like you get a person's rank or history when they reply giving any validation they half decent at this game.

        Very good point tbh. A lot of it is about seeking validation that the moves you're eyeing up are sound ones - or at least that others are doing the same. Need to learn to step back from that though sometimes, and think that realistically I probably should not have gotten Anderson in.
