Captain Sensible – Liverpool and Manchester clubs central to armband debate

Fantasy Premier League managers are faced with another tricky call for the captaincy in Gameweek 29.

Ahead of yet another round of fixtures, it looks as if assets from Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool will be the key options.

As ever, we are here to help find the best candidates for the armband with some in-depth statistical analysis.

Captain Poll

Paul Pogba (£8.9m) looks set to win this week’s captain poll but not by a huge margin. At the time of writing, he has a 23% share of the vote ahead of Southampton’s visit to Old Trafford. The French midfielder has blanked in just one home game since Ole Gunnar Solskjae rook over.

Close behind him are Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) who are neck-and-neck for second place on 17% each. Pep Guardiola’s men are travelling to Bournemouth in Gameweek 29, which will have raised interest in his Fantasy assets. Aguero looks the more dangerous but Sterling is the more likely to start.

Eden Hazard (£10.8m) makes an appearance in the top five for the first time in a while, ahead of Chelsea’s trip to now-managerless Fulham. The Belgian midfielder is not especially in any kind of form but the fixture is particularly appealing, the Cottagers still in possession of the worst defensive record in the league.

Mohamed Salah (£13.5m) completes the top five but has just 7% of the vote after blanking for the fourth time in his last five Premier League outings. Interestingly, he still has more backing than Sadio Mané (£9.7m), who has just 1.4% of the vote despite drastically outscoring him across the last six Gameweeks. That could mean that managers are largely put off by the fixture, an away trip to Everton in the latest edition of the Merseyside derby.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) and Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) are the best of the rest with a 3.4% share each. Harry Kane (£12.4m) and Son Heung-min (£8.9m) have also picked up minimal support ahead of the north London derby with 2% each.

      Unless you need the money, I don't see why you'd take a -4 to go from Snodgrass to Hayden. Would need Hayden to score 5/6 to break even in 31 and he might not even have a 33 fixture. Otherwise ye I back Haz and Lejeune in

    Hi guys

    Question: If you have all the chips still in use (WC, TC, FH & BB), is anyone keeping their powder dry and using transfers to ensure a full line up for GW 31 (I'll be taking a -4 hit which I think is reasonable) so they can use their FH another time? Or are people Free hitting regardless? Just wondered that others were thinking.

    After this game week, do you think it is better to sell Salah and reinvest? I feel like he is taking a toll on my team/subs. 1 return in the last 5 too.

      get over it, put yourself in his shoes a second he made a mistake by probably pretending he had cramp to waste time and then annoyed that he was going to get subbed in the biggest match of his chelsea career because of a stupid error, so he saw himself refusing to come off as just telling Sarri hes not actually injured he didnt mean any disrespect...this was how i first saw the event unroll when he was first asked to come off.

      then when we saw Sarri get angry and zola shouting i think he shouldve backed down and come off but he decided to ignore all that and stayed on, this was his mistake.

      in terms of massive disrespect i dont see it, it wasnt a tactical decision, keepers only eve get taken off when injured (ordanarily) and i think this was in his thoughts not disrespecting, definitely shouldnt be compared the same as to if this had of happened with an outfield player.

        I'm not so sure, you can keep saying that but Pep has said that he won't be able to play Kun every game. It only goes so far when you can say he will start as title race is massive - in the end he will get broken if he continues to play every single game.

      Kun will start and get 60 or will be sub and get on - Jesus shouldn't really be considered for 90 mins yet. I would keep Aguero but dont necessarily captain. Watford plans are very much reliant on what happens v Bournemouth - all you can really be sure of is that Kun won't do 2x90 mins.
