No Aguero in City’s squad as Mendy makes first start of 2019

There is no evening Premier League game today so the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion takes centre stage.

Kick-off is at 17:30 BST.

This is an audition of sorts for the Fantasy assets on show as their clubs enjoy two fixtures in Gameweek 35, while the Seagulls also have a Double Gameweek 34 before that.

Despite being described as “nearly fit” by his manager on Friday, Sergio Aguero isn’t part of City’s match-day squad at Wembley.

Gabriel Jesus leads the line again, with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva flanking the Brazilian.

With Oleksandr Zinchenko injured, Benjamin Mendy makes his first start since November.

Glenn Murray is back in Brighton’s starting XI after a benching in midweek, while Anthony Knockaert returns to the right wing.

Full-backs Martin Montoya and Bernardo also return, while Solly March misses out through injury.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Mendy, Laporte, Otamendi, Walker, Gundogan, Bernardo, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling, Jesus.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo, Stephens, Propper, Bissouma, Knockaert, Murray, Jahanbakhsh.

interesting, seen a couple of folk at least considering KDB over Sterling - why's that?

Not sure I'd be able to fit 2 MCI mids in though with the plethora of decent options available in midfield with good fixtures

While others have been through the grinder since August, Kevin's season is practically just starting; he is obviously not in 100% nick just yet but the last couple of games have looked very promising. I also believe he is a key factor if City are to add to the Carabao Cup success this season.

As to why 2 of them, I'm struggling to spot mids I'd be comfortable with. :/ Son, Mane, cheapie, City, City is where I'm at at the moment... Özil could be an alternative but whether he will feature regularly is anyone's guess.

Hasn't really done much particularly, but he doesn't need to pass the eye test. We know how good he is even if he has one crap game.

That was clear red card for Walker. Even with VAR refferes are sh*t in England.

Crazy. Wouldn't be pleased if I was a Chris Wood owner.

I own Vardy (transferred in after Puel was sacked), so this isn't sour grapes.

BUT, the guy is a rat. On three separate occasions he has had a large uptick in form following the sacking of the manager. Once or twice you can understand, but this guy clearly has significant influence over manager sackings.

Not sure the post-Pearson one counts. But yeah, the Raneiri and Purl ones certainly.

        Ranieri, Shakespeare and Puel.

          Who the heck is Shakespeare?

          Sorry didn’t follow football when I didn’t play FPL! 2016/17 and 2017/18

Craig Shakespeare. Was Pearson's and Ranieri's assistant. Got made caretaker and then got the job full time. Then got sacked after a woeful run putting Leicester in the relegation battle. Was sacked and replaced by Puel.

              Ah yes.

So basically Vardy controls the dressing room then, once the going gets tough he’ll turn them against you.
