Scoutcast Episode 293 – For Joe

The Scoutcast returned on Tuesday night to discuss all the key Fantasy Premier League talking points for Gameweek 37.

It was the first produced since we found out the deeply shocking news of Joe’s admission to hospital.

Our Scoutcast host was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain last week, so we thought it best to give the show a short break.

In preparing for this latest episode, Andy, David and Az found that we were being asked more questions about Joe than about the football itself, which we found incredibly touching.

So were able to provide an update on Joe who is obviously directing all his attention towards his recovery:

“Hi, Joe here from my hospital bed.  I understand that there have been lots of kind messages asking after me.  That’s been great to hear and I really appreciate your support, sorry I can’t reply directly at the moment. I am facing a massive challenge and all my energy is focused on getting better (and triple-captaining Aguero against Leicester 😉)”

In terms of Gameweek 37 issues, we started off by looking at the dilemma of Jamie Vardy (£9.0m), who has been in fantastic form but has two tough fixtures to finish off the season.

Then we flipped things round and discussed the points potential of Manchester United players.

They have appealing fixtures against Huddersfield (away) and Cardiff (home) but are not in particularly strong form.

The Scoutcast was then rounded off by considering strategies for either protecting mini-league leads or catching up to them.

Unfortunately, given current circumstances, we will be unable to convert the final two Scoutcasts of the 2018/19 season into podcast form – but they will still be accessible on YouTube and embedded in the article below.

We hope to be able to return to cross-platform posting for the start of the new campaign.

Would you sell Vertonghen now that he might not play next game?

If so, who to buy? Shaw? I have TAA, Valery, Duffy and Dunk (cannot buy more City-players)

Depends how happy you are with your current rank. Defensive swaps unlikely to make too much difference to OR at this stage.

Not sure of the reasoning here. Unless you mean they won't get a huge haul, but not many will. It's still about getting the most points

Basically that Defenders are less likely to haul.

Is it though? Good recent history of CS but neither remaining fixture looks good to me.

Burnley 2nd Half of season are much different beast and tend to score most games.

Everton have improved enormously defensivley and will be on the front foot for the Burnley game. Digne could well replicate his haul against them earlier.

    A) Eriksen+Laca to Sterling+Wilson
    B) Eriksen+Laca+Trippier to Sterling+Rashford+Lindelof

Other options to get rid of Eriksen and Laca to bring in Sterling + XXX

          No interest, I've avoided.
Uncertainty of injuries (Rashford) and just have no faith in Pogba now. Martial unlikely too.
I've gone for triple City instead (Sterling, Kun, Laporte) and changed out Foster for a likely clean sheet keeper.

    Ethridge
    Robbo / TAA / Alderw
    Salah / Sterling (c) / Son / Pogba
    Lacazette / Jimi / Wilson
    (Boruc / WB / Bed / Camas)

    2FT / 1.1mm ITB / 7k Rank

    A) Laca + Son > Aguero / Jota
    B) Pogba + Son > Hazard + Jota
    C) Alderw > Laporte
    D) A or B + C (-4)
    E) Something else

Rivals all have Laporte and Aguero....A or C blocks, B more maverick.

Firmino likely if he plays in Barca tonight. Rashford needs a break but OGS playing him into the ground. 50/50 for Rash I reckon.

    Is this transfer worth?

Moura+VVD to Pogba +AWB or Shaw or Digne(-4)

I know utd in bad form and all but surely they get something against Huddersfield

    1. Boberella

      Like getting rid of Moura.
      Like bringing in Digne.
Don't like getting rid of VVD.

Not fussed on United generally, but probable clean sheet I suppose for Shaw.

I think Liverpool will probably manage another couple of clean sheets so its whether or not you think Pogba and the defender score more than 16 in the last two.

why isnt anyone considering bilva instead?

I have a similar dilema: I'm ditching Eriksen & Son for Hazard plus X

This week screams X = Jota, but I don't really want 3 Wolves next week against Liverpool - am trying to work out whether Bilva over two games is better than Jota + using my FT on Jimi > Rash / Vardy in 38 ...... which would also mean playing Valery, JWP & Long in the last game

Sorry - to adress your point, I agree that there are better in-form options than Pogba, though I can see why people would go for him as he is a flat track bully, notwthstanding Utd's dogmuck form

Ok lads....mini league rival has whittled my advantage at top of cash league down to 26 points......
I have 2 FTs though and we both have used up chips

    Me:
    Lloris Ryan
    Robertson TAA Doherty Duffy Valery
    Mané Sterling Eriksen Son JWP
    Aguero Jiménez Ings

    Him:
    Foster Ryan
    Robertson TAA Doherty Duffy Valery
    Salah Sterling Jota Son Redmond
    Aguero Jiménez Long

Do I block or play my own game?

Block: Mané/Eriksen to Salah/Jota (gives 11 of 15 the same)

Own game: Eriksen TO Pogba (and have 2 frees for final GW)
