We dig into the weekend data now, with the first of our weekly articles for members. Under the radar this time are City’s Spanish frontman, the Cardiff midfield, Everton’s full-backs, Sunderland’s wide-boy and the new role for Liverpool’s captain:
But its worth bearing in mind that they may not be on the end of a spanking now. For example some are keeping Ozil purely for FUL
Open Controls
A slight improvement perhaps, but not one that warrants investment
Open ControlsI was thinking more about those investing/punting heavy in the opposition. Don't think they'll be rollovers.
Open Controls
Well he's a quality player and they surely can't get worse
Open Controls
The new price protection rules this season really are awful. It just forces you into having to take a gamble on a player coming back from a long term injury, or end up paying 0.5 or so more than you could have done.
Open ControlsThere are no new rules. Just managers messing us about more with injury updates. The protection rule is the same as last season.
Open ControlsYes there are. Players used to be price protected for 8 days from the moment their flag was removed, this is no longer the case and they can rise far more quickly now.
Open ControlsThey have always been protected when coming off a red flag. Not sure if it's more frequent, but I can't remember this many people going from red-yellow-no flag.
Open ControlsSo coming off a red still means protection right?
Open ControlsPretty sure, yeah.
Open Controls
Aguero went from red to yellow on 13th Jan, from yellow to nothing on 14th Jan and per the sites, was eligible for a rise immediately.
Open ControlsExactly, so he came off a yellow in between, not red-no flag.
Open Controls
Really, no protection? I hadn't noticed
Open ControlsWrong. Players are still protected when they go from RED FLAG --> BLUE. If a player goes from RED FLAG --> Yellow ---> Blue the the NTO/NTI is reset but there is no protection. THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE RULE
Open ControlsCheers thought so
Open Controls
Sound like a good thing to me. What's the change in the rules though?
Open ControlsSee above. I understand taking gambles is part and parcel of playing the game, but those are generally calculated risks based on the need for differentials or jumping on to early signs of form from a player. Gambling on whether a player comes back ok from an injury is just hoping for blind luck imo.
Open Controls
Aguero hasn't gone up 0.1 yet. Whats your beef? Just get him after seeing how he does in the CAR game. You'll lose 0.1 tops
Open Controls
@GTS.
Hearing rumours about Ki being recalled. Don't know if it's true.Open ControlsML said he wont be as he's doing well at Sunderland and wouldn't be playing every week at Swansea
Open ControlsHuw Jenkins just pointed out they have the option up until 31st. Only likely if they don't pick up a striker or if they lose another mid
Open Controls
Wanted to wait until I WC, but team is dire. Any opinions on this lot?
Jask / Mannone
Azpi / Coleman / Gabbi / Chester / John
Hazard / Ramsey / Lallana / Puncheon / Mutch
Suarez / Aguero / Sturridge

lallana Eriksen hazard wilshere (or similar) januzaj
Giroud Aguero Suarez
was worried about the mid but its growing on me as can play a few strong functions if injuries or rotationOpen ControlsFormations.
Bloody autospellOpen ControlsHelp?
Open ControlsGo for Boruc/Davis.
And Ramsey instead of Wilshere. Plus i think you need Silva.
Rest is goodOpen ControlsCheers fella. SOT defence is tempting now the band is back together. Would free funds for one of the other moves too. 🙂
Open Controls
What formation would you be playing? Are you sure about having Foster/Guzan and Chiriches in there? If I were Brendan Rodgers, I'd be fondling a thick manilla envelope here.
Wilshere simply isn't worth the money. Might easily upgrade your midpark by taking scissors to that defence.Open Controls

Obvious Issue of 4th mid:
A) keep Janu?
B) or Upgrade to 7.? Mid (who?) by downgrading Szcz and 1 def (who?)Open ControlsTumbleweed..
Open Controls
Funny how virtually every rmt has sas upfront on the basis of one 20min cameo post long injury. Shows how knee jerky this game is and also the value of waiting to wc, bound to be a new 'obvious' option by gw24
Open ControlsThey are playing Villa this weekend
Open ControlsTrue. But striker is probably where most will rotate each week and sturridge can easily be downgraded to all bar Roo & Neg. So maybe worth a punt before switching to giroud/Ade/Luk depending on fixture
Open ControlsAt 9.1 sturridge is a bargain based on over 2000 minutes accumulated in the last couple of seasons. Admittedly his cameo helped remind people of this!
Open Controls
Guys any suggestions on my team. I WCd last week and just need some clarification on what to do
Marshall Manonne
Coleman Kosc Clyne Ward Burner***
Silva Hazard Ozil Eriksen Pozuelo
Suarez Lukaku Adebayor
1FT and 0.0 itb
Want to get rid of Burner as he does not start any more
I will get Ramsey in for Ozil next week and then bring in Sturridge and Aguero for Lukaku and Adebayor
Any suggestions?Open ControlsWhich would you prefer for the next 4 weeks?
Ki (SUN) - 4.8m (SOT, STO, new, HUL)
Puncheon - 4.9m (STO, HUL, ars, WBA)
Januzaj - 5.2m (che, CAR, sto, FUL)Open ControlsB
Open ControlsHe was my initial pick, but he probably has the worst fixtures, is the least nailed on and is the most expensive. The other 2 also have pens in their locker.
Open ControlsHes probably got the best fixtures after this week.
Open ControlsYeah that's true. Reckon it's worth the gamble to rotate him with Gnabry?
FUL, CAR, CPL, FUL would be the next 4....Open ControlsWould only need Gnabry to play this week though, which looks very possibly given Rosicky's nose injury and Ramsey only just coming back. Then Januzaj can take over for CAR, sto FUL. Gnabry's only 4.2m at the end of the day so not a massive risk I don't think.
Open Controls
Punch/ Ki are not on PKs.
Open ControlsI think it's a little unclear, but both have taken them this year.
Ki took the one before AJ from memory (and presumably AJ only got it last week as he was on a hatty and the game was pretty much over).
Puncheon took the last 2, and I'd be surprised if he lost them after missing 1. Has that happened before to any player?Open ControlsKi's behind Borini too. Losing pens after a miss happens all the time.
Open ControlsKi took the one against EVE with Borini on the field though?
It's certainly not clear, but perhaps AJ is 1st choice.
I can understand if he's missed a few, but it was only 1 miss (albeit a very bad one! 🙂 )Open ControlsBut then Borini took the one in the League Cup semi with Ki on the field.
Open Controls
Punch was. Got the ball in my back garden to prove it...
Open Controls
Punch
Open Controls
Right, latest WC draft.
Boruc Davis
Baines Kosc Azpi Kolarov Chester
Lallana Silva Ramsey Hazard Gnabry
SAS
0.3 itb.Open ControlsVery nice. Huge team value you have there!
I'd be tempted to go with Ozil until Ramsey is confirmed back though - he's a beast at home.
Perhaps Baines can wait 2 weeks?Open Controlsdowngrade a def, upgrade a mid. Pozuelo over gnabry.
Open ControlsWaiting for 2 weeks for Baines is in my thoughts. But still doesnt get me enough for Ozil. I bought Coleman in at 6.5
Got Ozil again last week before price rise. But now transferred him to Gerrard to catch some profit.Open Controls
How bad are Blackburn?
With Silva and Yaya out how likely is it that they lose by 3 goals to City??Open ControlsMorning all 🙂
Open ControlsI don't follow Championship. Are Blackburn a decent side?
Without Silva and Yaya do you Coty winning by 3+ ?Open ControlsBlackburn 1.71 Man City 3.00 Draw 3.10
Bookies think they won't lose by 3.Open ControlsCheers. Guess I'll pick Blackburn then.
Open ControlsDoesn't mean that it will happen. Man City @ 3.00 is winning by 4+.
City are actually favs in the 3 bet market as they are 1.55 if you combine the two.Open Controls
Best 4th mid to have? (6.0m max)
Open ControlsJanuzaj
Open Controls
Thoughts on Wilshere? Nailed on?
Open ControlsWouldn't say so with Arteta and Ramsey back in the picture
Open ControlsIf I wildcarded now, I wouldn't have him, but I will wait and see for a week or two, maybe he's the new Ramsey. 😉
In any case, he naturally plays more advanced position, so he should have more FPL potential.Open Controls
Ok folks - Koscielny or Sagna, both £5.6. Who's the better pick?
Open ControlsKoscienlny
Open Controlsta!
Open Controls
ignore - went with Koscielny
Open ControlsWhat about gibbs .2 cheaper & with Monreal rumored to have broke his foot no risk of rotation
Open ControlsWell Kos has bonus point potential on his side as @Mipola says.
Open ControlsThat's not so much of bonus points so far, really. I would save that 0.2 with Gibbs if he can be assured to start. Its small difference, but can turn out to be important at some point.
Open Controls
If this is affirmed, then yes, Gibbs is a good option - in case that Arsenal is not getting a new LB, as I've understood that they may be getting a new player able to play left back to rotate with Gibbs, which may be wise seen how injury prone he is.
So: as long as Gibbs is not rotated, good, but if Monreal returns soon or a new player is added to the squad who can rotate with him, then I wouldn't risk it.Open Controls
Should i do Adebayor>Giroud this week due to favorable fixtures of Arsenal? I have 1FT and 2.5M in the bank. The team is:
Mannone
Coleman – Kosc – Clyne
Hazard – Ozil – Silva – Lallana
Suarez – Lukaku – Adebayor
Subs: Marshall – Olsson – Chester – Noone
If i bring in Giroud, ill only be able to bring in Aguero after 3 GWs when ManCity would be done with Cardiff, Spurs and Chelsea. So should i do it? Or save transfer this week to bring in Aguero immediately next GW?Open ControlsWhat FPL apps you lot using atm?
Have been using Fantasy Football Buddy, which is decent, but feels a little rough round the edges.Open ControlsUse it too. good for checking points on the go
Open ControlsFantasy Football Manager for Apple.
Open ControlsOn android? Fantasy football manager. Decent though a bit slow. Wouldn't want it when doling the armband around seconds to the deadline but good enough for general use.
Open ControlsSorry. Yeah on Android.
Open Controls
Pleased with my WC team (which means I'll be full of loathing by the weekend)
Boruc KD
Koscielny Coleman Bards Chester Ward
Özil Hazard Eriksen Lallana Januzaj
Lukaku Suarez AgueroOpen Controls£0.2 in the bank as well.
Open ControlsKosc > Gibbs
Lukaku > Giroud
Eriksen > Silva/Navas
Lallana > What budget allowsOpen ControlsOoh sorry mate, different points of view here. Gibbs nowhere near Kosc's bp potential, Lukaku for me is a season keeper and in any case a more explosive option than Giroud, Agüero is enough City cover for me (long story), Lallana in form good pick, Eriksen is a stopgap for Ramsey
Open Controls
Next week a perfect time to wildcard?
- 10 days to wildcard before next match, consider well and ride the prise rises. Last wild card week is only 3-4 days to get price changes and make decisions.
- we know more about return from Aguero, Ramsey, Rooney, Silva, Yaya, Distin, Evra, Evans etc. from injuries.
- we know more about the transfer window
-Open ControlsThere is no perfect time to WC. All depends on your situation
Open ControlsAgree with that!
Think my team can take another week without wildcarding, strong home fixtures, only probably bringing in Aguero for free for lukaku this week.
Agree with my team to go another week?
Howard
Mertesacher, Zabaleta, Ward
Özil, Sterling, Gerrard, Cabaye
Suarez, Giroud, lukaku (to Aguero, possibly)
Subs: Lewis, Chester, JWPOpen ControlsI would hold.
Open Controls
This is true. I would also add that making the decision as late as possible is generally "better" as you have more information on which to base the decision. But activating the WC on Saturday morning to get price rises is a sound plan, you could conceivably bank 0.5 if the right players rise aggressively... Or if you're holding the players that rise you could probably add up to 1.5m to your team value (say 5 players go up by 0.3 each)
Open ControlsIn selling prices that would be only 0.5, if they rose from their purchase price, and even in the best case scenario 1.0.
Open Controls
Extended window just means transfers are done slower. Dont buy all this more time to rise rubbish
Open ControlsThere's still chance for more rises, because each player can only rise 0.1 per day. So, if there's a short window, then people are buying a lot the same day, maybe passing the limit largely but still player rises only by 0.1. More time, more chances for prices to rise several times.
Open Controls
Only 3-4 days to make decisions?
Damn you're a deep thinker 😛Open ControlsIt's a fair point. Although it shouldn't matter that much, the 3/4 days between Gameweeks will put a few people off WCing in the last week. The only real difference is that the 3/4 day window pretty much ensures that no-one will triple-rise, whereas they have more of a chance in the 10-day window, but that's about it (and is that really much of an advantage, anyway?)- I'd still expect an equivalent number of transfers in both Gameweeks, just more concentrated for GW24.
Open Controls
Huge dilemma at the back.
Koscielny, Nasty,Azpi, Parr, Chester
Uncertainty over nasty, tough fixture for azpi and good fixtures for the budget options make a benching dilemma, currently have:
Kosc, Nasty, Parr (Azpi,Chester)
Who would you play/bench?Open Controlsa) Yaya + Gnabry
b) Silva + Januzaj?Open ControlsImagine if, 5 years ago, I told you Manchester United's top scoring midfielder would be 5.2 million on FPL and in many people's eyes not a good option.
I'm not saying this makes januzaj a must buy, I'm saying it demonstrates the decline of Manchester united!Open ControlsNot sure if serious...

10 years, 3 months ago
Fulham has conceeded 1.3 goals per match with Hangeland playing this season, and 2.93 without him.
He was back in yesterdays clean sheet victory against Norwich.
Will we see an immediate improvement with his return to the PL?
