With Gameweek 11 done and dusted, we look back at the stats that matter in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game. Once again, we cast an eye over Man of the Match (MoTM) awards and bonus point beneficiaries before taking a look at the Scout team and our plans for Gameweek 12.
Gameweek 11 Man of the Match Awards
These were the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional 5 points).
Fixture | MoTM |
West Ham vs Man City | Alex Song |
Liverpool vs Hull | Philippe Coutinho |
Southampton vs Stoke | Sadio Mane |
Sunderland vs Arsenal | Alexis Sanchez |
West Brom vs Crystal Palace | Yannick Bolasie |
Swansea vs Leicester | Wilfried Bony |
Burnley vs Everton | Samuel Eto’o |
Tottenham vs Newcastle | Sammy Ameobi |
Man United vs Chelsea | Thibaut Courtois |
QPR vs Aston Villa | Charlie Austin |
Alexis Sanchez and Saido Mane are probably the two players of most interest to us here and both now have two MoTM awards to their name. Mane, in particular, is just 5.8m and has an ownership of 0.3% and looks a real ‘in the know’ player to gain some ground in the coming weeks – providing if he recovers from an ankle knock in time to face Hull tomorrow.
Sanchez does have an ownership of 14.3% but I suspect it would be much higher if he wasn’t listed as a 9.5m forward, a really restricting factor for many who have gone down the Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero route. With Danny Welbeck (7.8m), Theo Walcott (8.5m) and Aaron Ramsey (8.6m) significantly cheaper, though, many may decide against bringing in the Chilean as a route into the Arsenal attack, leaving the explosive Sanchez as something of a specialist differential amongst the top 1,000.
Gameweek 11 Bonus Points
Two goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves last time around. Thibaut Courtois and Robert Green were the men in question and both managed six saves, Green now leads the way for keepers with eight additional points.
In defence, 18 players grabbed bonus, ten for tackles and eight for passes completed. Everton’s Antolin Alcaraz came closest to earning both, missing out by just two completed passes, whilst Ashley Williams now joins Vincent Kompany with the most bonus points, earning ten apiece.
In midfield there were 21 beneficiaries in total: 11 for tackling and 12 for passes. Mathieu Flamini and Morgan Schneiderlin were the players to earn both and bonus king Schneiderlin now finds himself way out in front with 20 extra points.

Notes
Following on from my best points tally of the season comes probably my worst since I started playing the Sky Game with a dismal 19 points. Both my captains (Sterling and Hazard) blanked and managed to pick up a yellow card meaning they earned me just four points between them – you know it’s a shocker when your goalkeeper, netting seven points, is your best haul by far. Onwards and upwards we go, though, and I’ll stick by my team for the weekend – I expect a much bigger return or the Claudio Ranieri in me will have to ring the changes.
Captain Plan
For Saturday my captain is locked into Eden Hazard, who’s at home to QPR – to be honest is now on his VERY last chance to score points for me or ill have swap him out for Cesc Fabregas.
On Sunday I’ll captain one of Angel di Maria or Sergio Aguero for the heavyweight clash at the Etihad, both also play on Saturday in Gameweek 13 in favorable fixtures and so are good options. Aguero has potentially the most upside but it’s always a worry captaining him with next week in mind due to his injury record.
Monday night’s action means I could transfer in a Crystal Palace player if I wanted to go for the three captains option but with a lack of transfers remaining and their Gameweek 13 game being against Man United at Old Trafford, I’ll sit this one out.
