FFS Paddy Power Cup X – Fourth Round Draw

Tonight we roll out the fourth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as  look back at the nail-biting conclusion to the Third Round ties.

With a score of 105 points, Made of Stone achieved the highest haul of the round. Given his losing opponent Paul Penney notched up an impressive 84 points, it shows just how tough this competition gets towards the final rounds. Made of Stone’s heroics, which included captaining David Silva and having John Terry and Pablo Zabaleta in his defence, earn him a round four tie against Nordeast.

The Fourth Round sees two top ten players looking to progress further in the competition. Randy Milla sits in seventh overall and faces 1,217th ranked Whalley DJ. Meanwhile, Doctor101 may be a credible 2,431st overall but has the tough task of taking on eighth placed Never Trust Lukaku.

Another name to watch out for in round four is Granville. Our Scoutcast co-host saw off Huddy in round three and will meet Fantasypete next.

Other notable community match ups in round four include Tommy J against Louis Van Goal and Dez against Gimli son of Gloin.

The full list of third round results can be found here, while the fourth round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

My Cup opponent made only a few transfers up until GW13. He actually has a decent side, despite being ranked 2mill. Kinda scared.

Eeeeeem, well, ya know ... Theres no easy matches in this game. We know what we've gotta do and we're just looking to take it one game at a.time and try to win each game as they come. We'll show them the upmost respect as we know its a cup tie and on any given day, anyone can win ye know? They might be ranked 2.3m but they have some good players and if their skipper plays well, we know they can cause an upset, so we wont take it lightly. It'll be a game of 2 halves.and hopefully we can get the job done and start thinking about the next match, but until then, we have to focus on this one and not understimate our opponents.

Incase Foster gets sent off so I avoid the -3. It is a little risky if, say, Foster gets injured.

But, all in all, it is more likely that Foster gets sent off then him coming off injured after 60 mins with a CS

Haha yeah. Of course it only really works if you have two goalkeepers (first and second choice respectively) from the same club.

Home from a heavy night of Guinness and red wine to find that my cup pairing with Dez is deemed a notable community match up... The public exposure is too much for my little dwarven heart to take.

City defender of choice? what is the consensus?

    Mangala 4 YC's
Demi - Nailed on CB with Kompany out?
Zab - Nailed on no matter what, doesn't need a rest?

Zaba I think is best pick. Demi is good too but only if you plan to use WC early(or use a FT to take him out once Kompany return)

I would love Zaba, but cant for the life of me see him playing at home to Burnley two days after the previous game. Not when there is a fully fit RB in the wings being paid 100K/week. Just don't trust it.

Man he was impressive against Palace!

Yeah I'm with you really. I kind of need this City defender to play in all of their upcoming fixtures. Especially the Burnley fixture.

Zaba, easily. Kompany could be back after the West Brom game, and if you didn't watch the Palace game Zaba was almost a forward when City had the ball, in and around the 6 yard box (yes I'm serious) and could've had a goal to go with his assist.

Perhaps, but given he's only produced attacking returns in three games, that's quite an assumption tbh. It's more likely they won't

Have to agree. Zab flatters to deceive. Mangala has a good goal scoring record anyway

You guys obviously didn't watch the Palace game then. Whenever City had the ball (as I said earlier) Zaba was literally a forward. He would either cut into the box looking for a through ball or be parked in the six yard box waiting for a cross.

Yeah he looks threatening. No doubt about it, but thats the nature of one who flatters to deceive. He hasn't been getting many attacking returns.

If he continues doing that (He hasn't been that far forward for the whole season) then there is no doubt he'll get more attacking returns, especially against weaker opposition.

Contrary to popular belief, Pellegrini may not rest him (he was previously rested against Leicester) in the hope of more attacking input from fullbacks. You just don't know.

At the end of the day the choice is yours, you seem to prefer Mangala so go for it, but Zaba is by far the better choice in my opinion, all things considered.

          Who is your other defender?

We don't know that he will be rested 100%, Pellegrini may want to field a more attacking minded team and start zaba

Eh, I think your safe there bud. I'd definitely go for Zaba. If Zaba misses BUR you'll still easily have 3 playing defenders.

Indeed, but I don't need a keeper right now.

I can just hope he doesn't get a yellow. At least I know he will play Burnley and I have enough cover with my other 4 defenders that a 1 game suspension isn't the worst thing in the world.

Its a similar scenario to Zaba. If Mangala is booked he misses one game. Possibly BUR. Zaba could be rotated one game. So they both could miss a game.

            Go for Zaba.

Mangala will play Burnley though (he's not suspended yet), Zab might not.

After the Burnley game I think rotation won't be as much of a problem

Will he though? Who's to say he won't get a yellow card against west from?

With Company on the brink of a return don't think you are completely safe with Mangala, yes MDM is more likely to be rotated but MDM will still knick the odd game off him.

The way I see it is no City defender is 100% nailed on (except for Hart and Komps when fit). So go for the one that is the most attacking (zaba).

What's the best easily available statistics to judge a goalkeeper's quality and performance?

It is saves to goal ratio.

Panti at the top (most saves per goal), while Begovic and Howard are at the bottom.

Apparently sunderland keepers save more shots becausee. Of the way sunderland play, has something to do with allowing lots of shots from distance, gives them eaasy save points

If a player accumulates five cautions between the opening day of the playing season and 31 December in the same season, he will be suspended automatically for one match.

If a player accumulates ten cautions between the opening day of the playing season and the second Sunday of April in the same season, he will be suspended automatically for two matches.

If a player accumulates fifteen cautions between the opening day of the playing season and the last day of the same season, he will be suspended automatically for three matches.

If a player then accumulates a further five cautions then he will be hauled before the regulatory commission, within seven days of the date of the last caution. The members of a regulatory commission will have the power to deal with the player in such manner as they deem fit. The same procedure will apply for every further five cautions received by that player.

I cant say too much about the comparison tool, as some are not members, however it fair to say he far more effective at home, and his stats in the last seven games were actually better than in the first seven
So although there is a perception he has gone off, its not really borne out by the stats

His stats are still not captain material though.

3 attempts in the box in the last 4?

Siggy will get a poxy free-kick every now and then, which makes him great value.
          But he's a poor captain.

Agreed... Too quick on the draw.
When we *Power Rank* players their spot on the ladder should move methodically up or down.

So, a player of Sigurdsson's quality hasn't all of a sudden become expendable because of a few slow weeks...
A week off & AVL at home could be just the trick to turn his fortunes around.

All that said, the idea of giving him the armband is just plain crazy talk.

It's pretty astonishing that nigh on 120K have transferred him out this round. More than 4X any other midfielder.

He's a very reasonable captain choice, although Bony will be mine.

To be fair i did nearly kneejerk him out myself after Silvas double strike, mainly due to falling price concerns
That will be the main reason he was taken out, that and the yellow box. I am really hoping he rewards those who have kept him, although sadly often doing the wrong thing is rewarded more than doing the sensible thing

Highest score in the last ten GWs Triggerlips is 9, plus he got a 7. a 4 and a three all the rest were less than 3.
IMO Either he's way off his early form or the way Monk plays them has changed.
Whichever it is, that's far from a captain option on current scoring.

I don't doubt he can still do it, but other players offer far better chances atm.

        16 chances created, 1 assist.

He needs better teammates, he also shoots only from range...which is good for a poxy goal here and there, but he's not brace or hattrick material.

Siggy stats may be good, but there are better options this week when qpr visit arsenal.

Sometimes it is not the consideration of is siggy the cap material, but at a given week, is he the best option? Certainly not when Arsenal play one of the worst away (or the worst) away team in the league. Even if it is a London derby, you had to take your chances on a good home win.

Siggy, may still out score any arsenal players, but I will still make the same decision every time, QPR away.
