Finally, Gameweek 26 edges towards its conclusion with this afternoon’s match at Anfield. Liverpool are afforded the chance to bounce back from last Monday’s disastrous home defeat at the hands of West Brom, as Swansea arrive on Merseyside. As always, we’ve opened up the Dugout Discussion chatroom for you to air your thoughts:

The team news is in and sees Daniel Sturridge handed the chance to lead the line for the hosts, having recovered from a thigh injury. Brendan Rodgers gives Philippe Coutinho his first start, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Liverpool XI: Reina; Johnson, Agger, Carragher, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard; Downing, Suarez, Coutinho; Sturridge

The big news comes courtesy of Michael Laudrup’s team selection. Michu merely warms the bench for the Welsh outfit, with the Swans boss clearly keeping one eye on next weekend’s Capital One Cup final against Bradford. Ashley Williams is also omitted from the first XI and with Chico out injured, Kyle Bartley and Garry Monk line up in the heart of defence – perhaps offering hope to those Fantasy managers who invested in Sturridge and/or Luis Suarez.

        I have Sturridge and not Gerrard, but I have to accept that Gerrard owners made the better call - real body blow this late in the season.

    As a Gerrard captained that is one disappointing game week. It could have been HUGE. Sturridge owners get the rub of the green. Sturridge captainers must have saved children from a burning house in a previous life 🙂

    I have no Liverpool defenders but did want GJ. People with Enrique lucked out considering his lack of goals (in the history of time), his dodgy hamstrings lasting the games (including a trip to Russia). Lady Luck shone there.

        He missed the game because he was injured in the game before AB. There was always a chance he'd miss the first game. People hopped on after the City game. And he was lucky to take a penalty for sure. Therefore, lucky to get the points he has with more to come bonus wise.

    So what are people's feelings on Suarez vs Sturridge? I still think Sturridge's potential value will lead me to stick with him, but it doesn't fill me with confidence to see the back of Suarez...

      Yeah, but you have to think of this double gameweek as a 2 week thing. A lot of people will be putting out weak teams/taking hits with the Swansea Liverpool blank this week. You're looking pretty good with only 3 to worry about.

    Does the weekly average score take out people's hits?

    I.e. if someone took -8 to get Michu, Sturridge and Suarez, would this be reflected in the average score?

    I'm more interested in next week actually, going to be a lot of hits judging by how many folk want to boast, sorry, ask if they have done well, with the points got from having Enrique, Sturridge, Suarez, Michu, Gerrard etc.

      I don't think so. Reason being that your score before hits is listed alongside the highest score (before hits) and average.

    Would have been a lot happier if Gerrard had stepped up to take that penalty instead of Sturridge though.

    Quite a lot of serious players in my leagues are at least in the 90's, any less than that is a bad week imo.

      If you cant gloat about fantasy football what can you gloat about? Its a game a bit of craic see all those that are taking the hump really need to catch themselves on. Have to agree Fellatio the top dogs in my league all have 90+ scores any less your losing ground.
