The Weekend Team News

Everton’s defensive problems continue as Seamus Coleman and Sylvain Distin remain on the sidelines for the visit of Villa. Arsene Wenger rules Jack Wilshere out Sunday’s clash with Palace. Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran are both still doubts for Newcastle, whilst Loic Remy loses his red card appeal. Rickie Lambert looks set to return for Southampton, though Gabby Agbonlahor is still a concern for Villa:

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere will miss the visit of Crystal Palace this weekend with an ongoing ankle injury, though hopes the England international will be available against Liverpool the week after. Wenger also conceded Aaron Ramsey will remain sidelined for four-to-six weeks after a thigh injury setback. Mathieu Flamini is suspended after his red card against Southampton, though Tomas Rosicky will return to the squad following surgery on his nose.

Everton’s defensive issues don’t look like abating this week. Roberto Martinez confirmed tomorrow’s game with Villa will come too soon for both Sylvain Distin and Seamus Coleman, whilst Antolin Alcaraz looks set to be out “for a while” with muscle fatigue. Though Martinez does expect the pair to be available for the game against Tottenham next weekend. Elsewhere, the Everton boss has confirmed that new recruit Lacina Traore is still 10-14 days away from recovering from a hamstring problem.

Paul Lambert has confirmed that Gabby Agbonlahor remains “touch and go” for the trip to Goodison Park, after a foot injury ruled him out of the Midlands derby in midweek. The forward will be assessed again but his manager has admitted the Toffees showdown may well be too soon.

Rickie Lambert has returned to full training ahead of Southampton’s trip to Fulham. Additionally, Mauricio Pochettino could be set to hand fit-again Victor Wanyama his first start since Gameweek 14 after he returned to the Saints squad in midweek.

Cardiff’s Mark Hudson looks likely to miss out with the hamstring problem that forced him off against United in midweek. Earlier this morning, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also confirmed Jordan Mutch and Kevin Theophile-Catherine are both in contention to return for tomorrow’s home game against Norwich.

Alan Pardew will assess the fitness of attackers Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Cisse ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby. The pair missed the stalemate with Norwich in midweek through injury and remain doubtful for the weekend. New signing Luuk de Jong is available after completing his move this week, however the forward is unlikely to be handed a start against Sunderland.

Meanwhile, the Football Association have dismissed Newcastle’s appeal against the red card handed to Loic Remy in midweek. The striker will now serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect. There was good news for Norwich, though, with the FA rescinding Bradley Johnson’s red card for his part in the Remy clash last Tuesday evening.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

    What's the story with Utd and set pieces if all 4 of the boys are playing?

    Januzaj & Mata on corners and Rooney taking everything else? Or does van Persie just take the lot?

    Fantasy Football Scout Daily Hot Topic

    Transfer window winners and losers

    With a flurry of new recruits already announced let's have a look to see who will be the winners and losers.

    I'll start off with a nice easy one. Mata to ManUtd - winner is RVP and Rooney who will get more supply. Losers include Januzaj, Young and Valencia as one will likely miss out each game to accommodate Mata.

    Another is Bridcutt to Sunderland. Cattermole faces serious competition now. Poyet rates Bridcutt highly.

    What about the new signings at Cardiff - where do they leave our budget options?

    My current WC team - £1.3m in bank. What say you?

    Adrian | Mannone
    Fabio | Collins | Chambers | Vlaar | Ward
    Hazard | Mata | Lallana | Yaya | Puncheon
    RVP | Suarez | Sturridge

    - I will bench my 3 Manchester players for the blank
    - Sturidge & Hazard become Aguero & Navas for the DGW - so I have 5 DGW players with no hit.
    - I'm a little worried about Chambers (because of Clyne) but can't afford to keep Shaw and can't find a good replacement 🙁

              2 weeks off is bad. It's not like losing 1.0 by selling. Rushed in the 1st place caused it so expect the cotton wool approach.

                I agree, i think given the fact that Dzeko and Negredo seem very capable of banging the goals in at the moment i dont think his return will be rushed this time.

    Morning/evening/afternoon all i'm just after listen to scout and he got me thinking Granville mentioned about being put off players for life in the game despite the points racking up. In the 7 seasons i have played this great game i have never had MAN U player as my hate runs to deep. I am an arsenal fan so nothing to do with man city connection being irish i grew up with lots of man you fans and in my opinion they are the most annoying but thats a side point. due to lack of man u players i have sufferd at the hands of ronaldo rooney and the once ever present in my team RVP. Just wondering if many of you have a bias your unwilling to budge on in the game and ultimately this makes or breaks your season as my best seasons and coinsided with man u bad seasons?

    PEAS OUT 🙂

        But in a game that always bangs on about differentials surely bias does that i would just be intersted to know if any body has won a mini league or finished high in the game despite some form of bias my best finish has been top 30.000 and i won my mini league 3 years ago very easily.

      Na I don't care but thats because I'm in a money league. Also alot of football villains are just overhyped by the media to be some kind of mass genocidal warlord. I do have a friend who is a big United fan, and he absolutely hates Liverpool, took him quite a while to get Suarez.

      Im afraid not, because I wish to do well at this game. For example, I literally can't stand John Terry, but that hasn't stopped me from getting him in my team this season.

      For me at least FPL is no place for real life bias.

    My back five are:

    Coleman (injured)
    Kolorov (bench risk)
    Ward (away to Arsenal)
    Terry (away to City)
    Mertesacker (only solid option this week)

    Is it worth spending 4 points to get another decent defender in?
    Basically, the only option I'd consider is Coleman out for Baines.

    A.) Coleman to Baines
    B. ) Coleman to someone else
    C.) Ride it out this week and hope for 15 points from Merts.

    Thanks!

    Any of these 3 stand out? Will likely put Puncheon as 1st sub this week post transfer(s).....

    A) Kim -> Gnabry
    B) Kim & Aguero -> Mirallas/Lallana & Benteke (4 points)
    C) Kim & Aguero -> Santi & Dzeko (4 points)

    B) leaves the option of Ozil -> Yaya the following week....

    Szczesny
    Terry, Kolarov, B Davies
    Hazard, Ozil, Silva, Puncheon
    Aguero, Suarez, Bony

    Davis, Kim, Clyne, Whittaker
