FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup XI and Members Cup V – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout is pleased to announce two new Fantasy Premier League cup competitions which are set to take place over the season run-in. First of all, we roll out the eleventh instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power. This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 and our reigning champion CMIFLFC in our hall of fame.

We’ve also opened entry for the fifth instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup, as Trigg looks to defend his title. Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kikkers and Acquafresca were our other previous winners of this tournament.

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 28, with the first rounds running on Gameweek 29.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to Wednesday March 11, when we’ll stop entry and will be drawing the first round ties from the qualifiers.

There will be 512 qualifiers for the members cup and 1024 for the Paddy Power Cup XI – depending on the number of entries. All our previous winners gain a bye into the first round draw where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 28.

FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup

How do I enter?

Enter the Paddy Power XI Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup V via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

The Paddy Power Cup XI entry list can be found here.

The Members Cup entry list can be found here.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around March 11 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Very doable. I had a 90 point lead that's been cut to 40 in just 6-7 weeks. All about the captain choices and mine have been shocking!

I would say it's not about quantity but about quality. If I'd get a crap defender for this GW who is going to get 1-2 points and I'll never play him again I'd rather save transfer and get sensible double gameweeker although there aren't too many great options past Kane/Erik/Austin.

One week up front punt? I'm bombing Costa and getting him back with WC for DGW but need a striker who will score the most this week. Already got Ings and Kun.

Was looking at either Sakho, Diouf or, inexplicably, Rooney.

Some harsh words for Kompany tonight on here. City have been a bit gash at times this season at the back, but jeez....Suarez, Messi, Neymar....would be a handful for any defence that has ever played...

It's a shambles. And I say that with all objectivity. The closest thing to a quality CB in Manchester right now is Chris Smalling. Shocking.

That's a really ridiculous opinion. He's the only one of our senior CBs who positions himself and reads the game well. McNair does as well but LvG is doing his best to wreck his confidence. Meanwhile you just spent 50m quid on Mangala. Lulz.

The United defence..like City's..haven't stood a chance this season, all set up wrong for good defensive work. Mourinho knows the wat to do it....4-2-3-1 week in and week out...

We don't have anything decent either though. Smalling is 24 I think and still prone to stupid errors. Jones and Rojo are both headless chickens. And Jonny Evans is a trainwreck.

I think the problem is purely the FB's in City's case...They just go walkabout far too often leaving two CB's looking daft...and acting daft in the end.

I don't. They're certainly a bit naive as a team these days but their CBs are all poor. In fact the only one I rated at all was Nastasic. Baffling how he was treated.

Disagree. The team Pelle picked left the fullbacks very exposed. A distorted 442 is all the 4222 is, and it left no cover for Clichy and Zaba when they have Sila and Nasri who won't defend in front of them.

Agreed..they won't defend at all...Zaba/Nasri and Silva/Clichy don't help their defensive problems out at all....It's shambolic in defence at times...

Pellegrini has the Wenger disease. He won't adapt how his team is set up according to the opposition.

I was at the Chelsea-City game. City were sensible, played a 4-2-3-1 with Silva at No. 10 and Milner and Navas wide. Navas did a lot of tracking back to help Sagna with Hazard. Milner tracked back on the other side. It was solid.

Why they wouldn't set up that way against Barcelona is beyond me.

Maybe he should have...Tonight they had a tall order, but in general the City defence is a lot better than we on here give them credit for...So far this season they are the third tightest defence in the league behind Soton and Chelsea..in fact they have only conceded three more than Chelsea.

Our problem is that they can't keep CS's, but I doubt Pell is too bothered about that if they are scoring well...Doesn't work in the CL though.

over-priced now, southampton are on for a decline. In my opinion investment was wise during the first 10-15 gw. Now there are much better options

They have been remarkably good at the back so far - Arsenal/City/Chelsea defenders all coming in at 6m+ except Bellerin, who else offers such good chances of a clean sheet?

he hasn't tinkered his defence too much, injuries and suspensions have forced his hand
          Toby injured, Bertrand suspended.

Wanyama and Schniderlin have had injuries too. They are back now

    Good evening everyone.

    Currently on

    Panti / Hamer
    Kos / Terry / VanAnholt / Baird / Cameron
    ADM / Silva / Hazard / Walcott / Boyd
    Augero / Giroud / Kane

    0.3 itb , 2 FT
    Transfers planned:
    GW27: Baird --> Haidara
    GW28: Cameron/Walcott/Giroud --> Rose/Eriksen/Austin (-4)

    Thoughts and suggestions?

Not sure what sort of philosophy acquiring Haidara fits into

I would rather Cameron to Dawson this week, then keep Baird as a non playing 5th def for now and don't take a hit

Seems that it would be odd to drop him after Pulis was talking him up recently.

    3. SC not pearls before swine
      • 13 Years

I think it's just because he's not a natural fullback and Pulis has options with Wisdom, Gamboa, Baird. But it seems Pulis likes playing more CBs and is pleased with Dawson so far: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-brom-boss-tony-pulis-8688456

So there's definitely some risk, we all thought PVA was glued on but you never really know.

I have PVA too, so am faced with him possibly being benched so have to get rid of one of Terry/Fabregas/Hazard or Kane, and given the Matic is out for two weeks then it's between Terry to A.N. Other or Fabregas to heavens knows who.

Who is more likely to post a shutout this week. New Castle, Aston Villa, West Brom.

New Castle - Injury woes and thin in back including Janmaat possibly out, but playing Aston Villa.

Aston Villa - Struggled for shutouts of late, Vlaar out, but new coach has them motivated against New Castle.

West Brom - 4 out of 6 shutouts. But, play a much more defensive focused game on the road. This week, they are at home against Southampton, who is currently struggling to score.

Essentially, who to pick up out of:

    Dawson
    Haidara
    Hull

Newcastle back 4 who will start are their first choice - pretty good chance of a cleanie this week but awful fixtures afterwards

      Villa - just no

WBA - small chance this week, quite good run after

I think it's mostly price. They've been remarkably even all season long. I'm happy to keep Clyne because I've had him all year, but if I was buying one of the two at current prices it'd have to be Bertrand.

Nope - had 2 last week and only made 1

I can only do PVA to Bertrand after I do ADM to Eriksen next week, so new problem:

PVA I think will get me a maximum of 1 point if I go for B, but then Bertrand averages 0.7ppg more than Toby afterwards. If I get Toby away to WBA I will probably get 1-2 extra points this week (maybe 5-6 if he keeps a cleanie), then 0.7 less after

That's what it comes down to really
