March Claims FPL Crown

After yet another tense final day, Fantasy Football Scout member, Simon March (aka “Dufflinks”) has claimed the Fantasy Premier League crown.

While the day didn’t quite match Tom Fenley’s single point drama of last season, Simon’s lead was put under real threat by Jon Sumner, aka “Jinswick” who, at the half way stage, looked as though he was going snatch top spot at the death.

Jon had transferred in Theo Walcott and Diego Costa and both stormed to handsome hauls to see him close the gap and claim second spot. However, unfortunately for Jon, he chose to put the armband on Costa rather than Walcott and, in the end, Sergio Aguero’s late goal for Simon ensured that he held on to win by a 21-point margin.

The day brought an end to what has been an outstanding season for Fantasy Football Scout community members, who have tussled for superiority at the top of the rankings for many weeks.

Simon (Dufflinks) has been on these pages since 2012, while Jon (Jinswick) goes back even further. With Kev Gleave, Mariusz Fyrstenberg, Jack Wain, Stuart Greenacre and AbuBakar Siddiq also members of our leagues or posters on the site, allegiances have been split as we entered the final Gameweeks. Those guys all claimed top ten finishes.

Huge congratulations go out to Simon, who, after rising to the summit back in Gameweek 23, becomes the second full Fantasy Football Scout member to claim the crown after Tom’s victory last season.

We will be catching up with Simon in the end of season ScoutCast next week so look out for that and be sure to listen in.

        If you got on the wrong end of a few decisions over the last 4 GW's or so it could happen. I think an 80 pt swing. My leader went from 1st to 7th. i went from 4th to 1st. sheer luck!

    Looking at people who've had a disappointing final few weeks, it seems Liverpool singlehandedly ruined a lot of seasons.

    Their DGW was so misleading.

      It certainly ruined mine, 34 was such a turning point, not only because of having to restructure teams for Liverpool but I had an Austin missed pen and a Burnley missed pen which caused a massive swing in one of my leagues.

      From there on in it was all downhill.

          Time and a half.

          We have a crane in, the crane stops working for no man. 10k a day just to be on site, so we work weekends and bank holidays.

    Just to say, thanks all. Was always going to have a tough time emulating (or bettering) last season, but I think I still had a decent poke at it and I'm under no illusions that I've this site and it's community to thank.

      Playoffs aren't cruel. Everyone knows the rules, they've been here for about 25 years.

      Football is about entertainment at the end of the day and there's very few matches more entertaining than the Championship playoffs.

        Playoffs belongs to ice hockey not in football.

        First they play 46 games and then 3 games decide after all who goes up. Stupid system.

    My modest goals for the season are achieved;

    -Won all three mini leagues
    -Finished in the top 50k

    I'm posting this for all the other Scouts who, like me, who love playing the game but are perhaps not great players or have not had luck on their side, and feeling humbled by the barrage of posts from people with amazing scores and ranks. Here's to us

      And why, as soon as boarding is called, do a majority of people rush to get in the queue, and just end up standing uncomfortably holding their bags for the next 20mins. I always stay seated until there are less than 5 people waiting, so I can just walk straight through to the plane

    Morning all.
    A big thank you to all with all the help this season, it's been fun.
    I've achieved one of my goals this season in beating my best OR 19k. Finished on 5,846.
    However I only finished 2nd in both my ML's to the wife who played well all season and just finished outside the top 1k. Well played.

                Maybe. Good luck affording a pricey defender with all the attacking talent we're going to need. Sanchez, Hazard and Aguero alone will be tough to all fit in. Imagine if Bale comes...

                  Yeah, true.Somehow we always manage to fit in a reasonable lot. Injuries and transfers as you mentioned will still throw some curve balls.

                  I think the value might be locked in the 6/6.5m midfielders depending on price/form/fixtures.

      Think Aguero, Hazard and Sanchez might just be same price as this season. Maybe Sanchez to go up to 11 with hazard.

    Morning fellas! Great season it was and winning ML by 2 points after being 64pts behind in the GW30 feels great. Really disappointed to miss top 1k by only four points. Horrible final week after ditching Hazard for Silva and getting Mata in instead of Wally. Hopefully next season those 4 points swing in my favour. See you next season guys.

    Why were people saying Liverpool were going to be the biggest challengers to the top four, over Spurs when they had the same number of points. Liverpool have finished below Spurs in 6 of the last 7 seasons, so I don't understand why Liverpool fans and indeed pundits expect Liverpool to be finishing above them.
    Any ideas?

    Just wanted to say thanks to those who helped me this season. Only found and joined the site in that last month or so, but it helped steer me to a decent finish. Some transfers I wouldn't have otherwise considered helped win me quite a bit of cash and a top 8k finish. Thanks guys.

    A big thank you to everyone who takes the time not just to contribute articles but to join the debate. This was my first full season so I kept my gob shut and learned as much as I can. Like many things in life, hearing different voices is the fastest way of learning. There are no right or wrong opinions.

      Not sure the exact date, but some time over pre-season. Membership is cheaper then too.

        Saw they will be expired on 1st June.

        Saw them going about 15 pound and 10 pound for half season.

        How cheap are we thinking here, you have the exact figure perhaps?

    I've had my worst ever FPL season out of nine seasons and first did figure rank (171k) 🙁

    However had a great Sky season finishing 332! 🙂

    Also played FiT and Telegraph. I think I need to slim down to get FPL back on track next year.
