The Community Round Up

With the fixture ticker shifting in favour of Everton, Southampton and Manchester United, there was plenty of advice in our community articles and hot topics about the best options to draft in. We also take a look back in the mists of time to see Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever conversation. Back in the present day, we feature some of the most eye-catching recent stats in our latest Members tables and catch up on some of those benefiting from both form and fixtures at the summit of our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Rakkhi has used this weekend’s fixture shift to take an in-depth look at the next few Gameweeks to assess whether fixture-proof is a myth and analyse just how good the immediate schedule for the likes of Everton really is.

Meanwhile, Daily Fantasy Football PI looks at three teams with strong fixtures from this weekend onwards, while Iafarrell’s latest article looks at the best captaincy candidates for this weekend and beyond.

Rodellegabomb has a trio of bandwagons to cast your eyes over and Your Mum’s Athletic has popped down the bookies to get inspiration for his regular predictions on the Gameweek ahead.

If you are a form over fixtures brand of Fantasy manager, there will be a lot to like in The Sarjeant’s latest article on the teams that are excelling regardless of opposition so far.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Despite a kind run of matches for Manchester United on the horizon, Fantasy managers are queuing up to ditch Anthony Martial, who hasn’t scored since Gameweek 6. Already more than 70,000 Fantasy Premier League managers have drafted him out, with Spurs man Harry Kane the new centre of attention for many, according to Hooperman’s discussion on strikers. The England international was also one of a trio of key striker options we focused on in this hot topic on the best forward to draft in this week.

There was further chat about frontmen in Gruffyboy’s discussion on the best three striker options over the next few Gameweeeks. Heels over Head was also in fine voice on the issue of centre forwards, with this musical ode to football’s most notable goal scorers.

Jamie Vardy continues to attract interest after scoring in the seventh consecutive Premier League match in Gameweek 10. Davies asked will Leicester’s unstoppable force finally meet his match when he encounters the immovable object that is a well-drilled Tony Pulis defence at the Hawthorns this weekend?

Leicester’s other star this season has been Riyad Mahrez, who has five goals and as many assists to his name already. But, wondered Jaffilicious, with so many good options in attack and midfield is the 6.5m player now effectively a fifth midfielder that can be safely benched during tough matches?

Also falling down the pecking order shortly is West Brom’s defence, which after Leicester this weekend faces Manchester United and Arsenal. Could it be time to bail on the Baggies, asked Demi.

The fate of Boaz Myhill in the community’s sides is also now under threat due to West Brom’s turn for the worst in the fixture list, according to Dino’s look at the fate of rotation.

We also ask whether form trumps fixtures as the key guide for our forthcoming transfer moves. Elsewhere, Zasa was on hand this week to offer some advice on the best times to consider using our wildcards before it runs out at the end of 2015.

Jarvish has been looking even further ahead in the fixture list now that the quarter final draw has been made in the Capital One Cup. He offered a reminder that the finalists in this competition are set for a blank fixture and double Gameweek in the second half of the season, with Manchester City and Everton amongst the favourites to reach Wembley.

The community has also been looking back on the season so far, with Ryan starting a discussion on the most underrated and overrated Fantasy Premier League players so far this season. Looking further back, Kings of Lyon has unearthed what may well be Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever discussion and first ever Rate My Team.

In the more immediate past our Rough with the Smooth takes a look back at the best and worst transfer and captaincy decisions by the community in Gameweek 10 with one of our own writers proving amongst the smoothest operators when it comes to armband decisions.

Due to a technical issue with this week’s live Scoutcast the first ten minutes have been lost in the ether. Despite this setback, the remaining 50 minutes plus our run down of what you were missing out on during those first few minutes can be found here.

The Members Tables

For those hoping Manchester United can take advantage of their kind fixture run, I’ve created this look at their most attacking players. This has a global filter and is sorted by shots in the box.

Meanwhile, Jaffalicious has found some surprising names at the top of his latest table looking at the Premier League’s most attacking defenders over the last four Gameweeks.

The Community Tournaments

Round one of Balders’s Grand Play Offs competition continues this weekend. The latest standings can be found here. Balders was back again later in the week with this update on the latest preparations for the FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup tournament.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 32, which saw 150 players depart and 1726 remain.

Jaffalicious also popped by with an update from the FFS UEFA Champions League competition.

Finally, congratulations to Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Andy, who thanks to Harry Kane is now 149th overall.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Anyone going w/ the differential mane approx 10-15% C option vs the 45% apprx C KDB?

wanna go sadio, but cant seem to do it, and feel the easy choice is KDB...anyone else going sadio over kdb?

Yep and for the reason you've highlighted. It's difficult to say who'll do the best of the two but it's easy to see who'll you get more of a boost from if you get right. A haul from Mane(c) will do a lot more for me than a haul from KDB(c).

On the flipside, if KDB does get a haul and you didn't captain him, you're losing out more. Just captain the player you think will get the most points, no need to overcomplicate it by worrying about ownership.

KDB. Just think he's the most reliable. Excellent player in an excellent team. Soton can put in the odd stinker. Plus he's my only City player while I have Mane and Pelle, so I'm kind of "covering" the possibility of City scoring lots by giving him the armband, cos I've already got Soton covered by having two players. It's funny the warped logic we apply to help us make fantasy decisions huh? 🙂

      Mahrez for me.

Leicester have more attacking potential, Mahrez more influential, and Wba have the occasional game where they concede a bunch of goals.

West Ham also have performed a lot better away from home this season, so that's a negative for Ighalo.

West Brom are the same in that they've been a lot better away.
4/6 of their clean sheets have come away from home.

They've only conceded 2 goals away from home, but 9(!) goals at The Hawthorns.
I think they're playing Leicester at home right?

They've kept clean sheets against a bunch of poor teams as well. Good stuff, you've made me feel better about going with Mahrez.

You're basically hedging your bets - if you try to predict the result you could get it wrong and really lose out. By playing them all you raise the chance that at least one or two of your players will do well. So it's swings and roundabouts really.

      1. Hyperion
        • 12 Years
        8 years, 6 months ago

Forgot to add, you raise the chance one or two will do well but the ceiling for big points is lower because the other side of it is probably two players doing badly. But who knows what'll happen?

thanks for that mate. i do worry about 2 of them doing badly, but in order to bring someone else in id have to take a hit anyway. Might just leave as is and hope for the best.

Tough one, would say A. Wouldn't want to triple up on City attack just yet when they have good value and points potential at the back.

Mahrez Vardy both equally good picks. Lukaku > Sterling in this case.

Hi just wondered whether you agreed that this could be a good week to use the AOA chip, my team is as follows:

    Butland
    Kompany Smalling (Francis Martin Browning)
KDB (C) Sanchez Mata Payet Mahrez
    Martial Pelle Vardy

If not then will probably bench Mahrez

Hahhahahaha I love a lot of these posts this week. They've been along the lines of, who should I transfer, funds/moeny aren't a problem. Until we all remember all our funds are aguero money, and then we panick when he is back ahhahahahha. Soz. Been drinking. Just one pint officer, I swear.

Right now I can do Kane -> Aguero with 0.2 itb. Noice. I think as long as you can do it 2 moves, you OK.

Drinking aside (I've been at it all night) the problem with "planning" for Aguero's return is that if you keep saving that kitty you might be losing out on points other people are getting because they spent the money. And then what if things don't happen the way you planned? Then you might not even get that advantage you thought you got through saving the Aguero kitty. I'm just gonna play the game, and see what things look like when Aguero actually appears.

I am going to advise something outside the box: bench Vardy. (a) he will fail to score sometime, and why not against a Pulis defence? (b) Pulis will probably key his tactics on neutralizing Vardy (bacause he is easier to neutralize than Mahrez), and (c) Mahrez has pens, an extra point for goals, and a possible clean sheet point (and WBA is not going to score). So, yeah, I would bench Vardy.

Beware of Gambler's Fallacy. Just because Vardy has been on an incredible run, it doesn't make him any less likely to score the following week.

I can't get over how easily people are hoodwinked on this site, and how much they cleave to a few well-worn tropes. I'm seeing upvotes for an aphorism that does not apply to the post it was attached to. It kind of pisses me off that I make point A, then homey puts out a completely inapplicable and hackneyed counterargument that might apply to point B, and he gets upvotes!

I never fell into the Gambler's Fallacy. I just said that (a) it would happen sometime, and this seemed like the team that could do it, and (b) and (c) were unrelated reasons. I know it scores points to draw attention to the GF, but that is not what I said. I have never based my decisions on what is "due". There are a lot of reasons why Vardy might be held tomorrow, and I set out some of them, but none was because he was bound to statistically.

            • 10 Years

No, it wasn't. Why are you interested in reducing people's arguments to something they didn't say? I did not say that he would fail because he was due. I said that because it is obvious that he will fail to score sometime (and that is obvious and undeniable) that this was a team that would be a likely candidate. This is an example of the worst kind of levelling and reductionist nonsense that happens around here. There IS and argument that a plyer will fail because he has been doing too well. It exists. But that doesn't make every claim that sounds remotely similar mean the same thing. My argument was that (1) because there will be a team that will stop him, (2) one ought to think about which team that might be and (3) I think this team is the one that can do it.

Well then you are wary of it, which is what I suggested you should be, so I'm glad :). "He will fail to score sometime" definitely implied it even if that wasn't your intention. Not sure I agree with B but C is a decent point. An additional point D to consider is that Mahrez is less nailed-on and could be benched. I think it's unlikely but difficult to second-guess the Tinkerman.

The last point you make is the one that scares me. I think Mahrez is more dangerous than Vardy, and I think that a team determined to defend can neutralize Vardy more easily than they can neutralize Mahrez. But if he doesn't start that is just irrlevant. Anyway, it was just an argument for something different.

    Kolarov Evans Moreno (Naughton Targett)
    Sanchez Mahrez KDB Yaya (Coutinho)
    Pelle Sakho Gomis

Worth taking a hit to do Coutinho to Barkley or Mane and bench Gomis???

    Any other thoughts or G2G?

Cheers but 1or2 issues with the forwards but not sure I want to take a hit, hate giving away 4 pts.

Hey guys, any recommendations for a movies in theaters?
    Seen the Martian.

Is Crimson Peak a good film? A horror would be good for tomorrow.
