The Community Round Up

The dangers of a strong front eight were exposed this week as those who benched or drafted out the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Odion Ighalo were left heartbroken. The great form of Mahrez and his team-mate Jamie Vardy dominated the thoughts of our community writers and hot topic posts this week. We also look at colourful team form, the latest stats from our Members tables and catch up on those who are at the summit of our community leagues, with a little help from Leicester’s stars no doubt.

The Community Articles

Jose’s Magic Omelette has taken a detailed look at the form of Mahrez and Vardy to see if they can be season keepers or not, while the duo also get a mention in Your Mum’s Athletic‘s latest Gameweek predictions based on what the bookies say.

Form continues to be the focus of The Sarjeant’s regular weekly community article. This week his insight has been bolstered by a colourful look at the best and worst attacks and defences over the last six Gameweeks.

Bowstring the Carp’s latest monthly review provides a fascinating insight into the players that helped shape October’s scores. He also looks ahead to this month’s fixture list to pick out some key targets to consider, with Rodellegabomb‘s analysis of a trio of bandwagons ahead of the weekend providing further options.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Bowstring the Carp who wins a £20 Amazon voucher after you voted him community writer of the month for October, fittingly for his monthly review series.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Mahrez and Vardy also took centre stage in our discussion on the merits of doubling up on attackers and midfielders from the same team.

There were certainly plenty of community members who were pleased they had both in their starting XI, according to our Rough with the Smooth round up of your best and worst Gameweek 11 decisions.

But Demi wonders whether investing in the duo is sustainable through tough fixturesDoolittle is also not getting too carried away and urges caution in considering captaining one of the pair against a resilient Watford side.

Leicester’s opponents were also the focus of Applebonkers, who watched West Brom capitulate against the might of Mahrez last weekend and wondered whether pacey wingers are their Achilles heel.

With the Sergio Aguero cash spent by many on midfield upgrades, plenty of the community find themselves with some tough selection choices ahead. Our discussion on the perils of a great front eight was particularly apt for those who benched a high scoring player last Gameweek. Help is at hand, though, with the All Out Attack chip, according to TorresMagic.

Elsewhere, S Kuqi is in the market for a new defender. Among options to be considered in his discussion on top defensive targets was Liverpool’s forward-thinking full-back, Alberto Moreno.

Arsenal’s problems in defence, with Hector Bellerin ruled out and Laurent Koscielny a doubt, mean their assets may be best avoided going into the North London Derby this weekend. Limpar was on hand with an array of statistics looking in detail at his regular fixture, while Zasa also provided a wealth of figures to prepare the community for all Gameweek 12’s matches. Sticking with the Derby, Neighmar provided an interesting analysis of just how effective Alexis Sanchez is when both Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are on the pitch.

Meanwhile, our Hall of Fame has been updated to take into account Gameweek 11’s games. Members can see the latest standings here. One community member who has seen his rankings plummet this season is Boris Bodega, who bravely shared his whole season of mishaps and blunders.

The Members Tables

With Philippe Coutinho, Graziano Pelle and Ighalo proving the worth of my goals imminent table, here is the latest update ahead of Gameweek 12Wakey’s latest table on team statistics over the last four Gameweeks gives a detailed look at how far Manchester United and Chelsea have sunk in terms of attack.

For those looking at investing in Everton Doosra has served up a deliciously named table called Doosra’s Toffee Apples looking at their best players over the last four matches.

The Community Tournaments

Congratulations to Wild Rover. He scooped £1,000 after gaining the highest October score in Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, the sister game of FPL. He is also in with a chance of winning the season-long game, too, as he is currently third in our league and sits fourth in the overall rankings.

Ahead of the launch of the FIFFSA Five-a-side competition, Gameweek 11 saw a friendly against those sides already registered. The full list of winners can be found here courtesy of Rodellegabomb’s update.

Jaffalicious also popped by with an update from the group stages of the FFS UEFA Champions League competition.

Evs takes his turn to play second fiddle to Andy in the FFScout moderators and contributors league. League leader Andy now has a 63-point lead and has a top 100 overall rank for the first time this season.

The first round of BaldersCommunity Grand Play Offs is now complete with a number of moderators and contributors leaving, while inTorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 46, which saw 141 players depart and 1588 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Ayew owners. Benching him this GW feels wrong, but have to given form right?

Not really necessary imo. Solid defénse for the week, 2 FT's over the IB in case of international & to reassess your side is invaluable in my eyes.

      Eddie Howe
That young PE teacher who your never sure if he's an actual teacher, an assistant or still a student. He's probably a bit of a lad and he will probably end up going to the pub with the Sixth Formers.

      Arsene Wenger
The creepy French teacher who got overlooked for the role of Head of Languages so skulks around the corridors muttering under his breath.

      Remi Garde
      Insufferably boring Maths teacher.

      Jose Mourinho
The slightly more mental Deputy Headmaster who seems intent on publicly shaming school kids, probably chosen for the role to act as 'bad cop' for Headmaster Ranieri. The young students fear him but the Sixth Formers know his anger is a result of deep insecurity.

      Alan Pardew
A geography teacher. Desperate to be 'down with the kids' but everybody finds him a little cringy.

      Roberto Martinez
Spanish teacher. Nice chap. Famed for his legendary Year 10 exchange trip.

      Claudio Ranieri
Headmaster who everybody assumes is a nice guy even though they rarely see him or speak to him.

      Jurgen Klopp
Popular art teacher. Slightly mad in a way that only an art teacher can be. Great proponent of 'gegenpressing' which roughly translates as 'full throttle oil painting'.

      Manuel Pellegrini
Probably the man who beat Arsene Wenger to the role of Head of Languages. Very similar men but Pellegrini smiles more.

      Louis Van Gaal
Evil PE teacher with a sadistic streak. More than anything, despises having his authority questioned. The sort of man who has no problem telling 12 years olds to run 5k because they brought the wrong coloured socks. Probably resentful about having to work with Eddie Howe every day because he 'hasn't lived enough to teach'.

      Steve McLaren
Slightly creepy Religious Studies teacher. Tells people off, but does it with a smile on his face which unnerves the students. Runs a Dutch A-level which is only taken by about 3 people.

      Alex Neil
      Scottish caretaker.

      Slaven Bilic
Head of the school canteen. Complete nutter. An urban myth passed down from year to year is that he sells illegally strong, alcoholic beverages imported from the Balkans, from the tuck shop.
