Fantasy Bet

FantasyBet Focus- Gameweek 13

I’m predominantly focusing my FantasyBet picks on those teams with fixtures against the bottom four sides this week. A trio from in-form Tottenham also appear on my radar as they welcome a West Ham side devoid of injured playmaker Dimitri Payet.

Everton’s assets form the spine of my team – the Toffees host Aston Villa and scored six goals against Sunderland in their last match at Goodison. Crystal Palace have the honour of welcoming the Black Cats this week, so I also find places for a pair of Eagles recruits.

Finally, the consistency of Mesut Ozil, allied with ongoing doubts over Jamie Vardy’s hip problem, convinces me that the latter can be dropped in favour of a 3-5-2 formation, with the German taking the Leicester striker’s regular spot in my starting XI.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet, it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses the same initial player prices and has a similar scoring system.

MY TEAM

This is the team I will play in the freeroll:

Hugo Lloris (5m)
Scott Dann (5m)
Danny Rose (5.5m)
Seamus Coleman (6m)
Riyad Mahrez (5.5m)
Yannick Bolasie (6.5m)
Gerard Deulofeu (6.5m)
Andre Ayew (7.0m)
Mesut Ozil (8.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Romelu Lukaku (8m)

KEY PICKS

Hugo Lloris – Spurs have conceded just twice in their last five at White Hart Lane, including matches against Manchester City, Everton and Liverpool. As mentioned above, they face a Hammers side without top scorer and creative force Dimitri Payet, making a fifth shut-out of the season appear likely for Lloris and team-mate Danny Rose, who has an assist in each of the last three.

Scott Dann– A second goal of the season for the central defender at Anfield re-affirmed his aerial threat from set-plays. Palace have also improved defensively of late, with three shut-outs in the last six, suggesting there could be points available at both ends of the pitch against Sunderland.

Andre Ayew – For many, this weekend will be the Ghanaian’s last chance to impress as Swansea’s stuttering form shows little sign of abating. Up against a Bournemouth side that have conceded 13 times in their last four league matches, Ayew – who has been involved in 50% of the Swans’ strikes so far – looks a viable one-week punt for the Liberty showdown.

Harry Kane – The Spurs frontman has shaken off a slow start to the season by netting five goals in the last three Gameweeks. Kane now faces a porous West Ham defence that ranks second-bottom for shots conceded inside the box on their travels and are without a clean sheet in each of their last seven.

THIS WEEK’S GAME PICKS

There is an End of Week bargain game that covers the fixtures at White Hart Lane and Selhurst Park – it’s only £1.10 to enter and has a £75 guaranteed pot.

The Grand weekend is FantasyBet’s biggest game, where you compete for a £1000 guaranteed prize pool on a £5.50 buy in.

As always, the best place to start if you’re new to FantasyBet is the weekly freeroll, where you can set up a free team and compete against the team above for a £100 pot.

LAST WEEK

I had another narrow miss of a big money win in the £1000 pot in Gameweek 12. A total of 64 points was enough to put me in fifth, just one point off a joint-second finish in which three players scooped just under £80 each. Frustratingly, captaining Jamie Vardy instead of Romelu Lukaku would have put me in second overall.

Riksheim was further ahead with 69 points to clinch top spot, a bold captain choice of Ryan Bertrand paying off.

On the upside, I still won £11.11 and now have a pot of £105.82.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

This week I will enter all of the contests mentioned in the games picks, as well as the £50 flash freeroll and, as usual, the FFScout Picks League for a total stake of £7.70.

In addition, I’ll be going up against Jossy, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks. He will be taking me on in a specially set up head-to-head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22.

Also the Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

Redbullindia topped last week’s Scout Picks league with 74 points. He doubled up on both Manchester teams in defence, bringing in an impressive 26 points between them.

The Scout Picks accumulated 52 points, putting us in 31st. My decision to captain Alexis Sanchez was a mistake after he blanked at home to Tottenham, with Jamie Vardy my top-scoring pick on nine points.

Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League, with a £1.10 stake for entry. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

I did some fact checking about Mane's playing time immediately following international duty.

    Long story:
    15/10/14 - National game
    18/10/14 - (SUN) - 25 mins off the bench

    19/11/14 - National game
    24/11/14 - (avl) - started, played 79 mins

    27/1/15 - National game
    1/2/15 - (SWA) - 27 mins off the bench

    28/3/15 - National game
    4/4/15 - (eve) - 29 mins off the bench

    5/9/15 - National game
    12/9/15 - (wba) - 23 mins off the bench

    13/10/15 - National game
    17/10/15 - (LEI) - Full 90 mins

    Short story:
Since signing for Saints, he's played 6 international games that were within a week of the next PL game. Of those, he started two and got 30 mins in four.

There's no clear answer but my take is that he's more likely to be benched than to start. But you could conclude that the last episode signaled a change of heart from Koeman and he will now trust him to play after international duty.

There are quite big disparities between game times there. From 3 days to a full 7. That wba one would be a concern for those worried this weekend, given there was a week to recover.

Not to pour scorn on this one, but it would also be useful to know where he's travelled back from. It's an 8 hour flight from the bottom to the top of Africa alone, so Madagascar will be tougher to recover from then Egypt, I imagine.

There are differences for sure but since they didn't fit any pattern of starts/benches, I didn't call it out.

There's definitely more info that could be layered on, like flight times and as Ecuadorian Ziro pointed out, squad strength. Be my guest 🙂

Yeah crazy patterns aren't they! Starts when only four days between games, doesn't when there's seven.

Like you say, Koeman may be less reluctant to leave him out after a few bad results in the previous attempts to rest him. Or he may be getting better at recovering.

I think fit replacements has a lot to do with it.

Currently, JRod is injured. Long is just back from injury. Its really only JWP who could play on the right instead of Mane.

How's this for plan of action over next 2 GWs?

GW 12: Payet > Alli (bench)

GW 13 (-4): Mane > Lanzini (alternates well with Alli for 4th Mid spot) or 6.7m Mid
    ------------------Pelle > Aguero

I think that's a pretty solid plan to be honest. Not convinced by the Alli pick, but in that price region, there's not much better IMO.

Almost the same route as I've taken!

          This week Payet --> Deulofeu
Next week Ayew --> Alli and Pelle --> Aguero if there are no other injuries.

          Currently:

          Butland / Schmeichel
          Bellerin / Coleman / Moreno / Evans / Ward
Sanchez / Mahrez / Deulofeu / De Bruyne / Ayew
          Kane / Pelle / Vardy

          £2.7m ITB

I have to say, Lanzini is tempting me for Ayew, with a "downgrade" of Coleman to Rojo or similar to free enough cash instead of going to Alli but done over one extra week. It also depends how Aguero looks as to how quickly I need to go with this.

I get the feeling with Deulofeu that you either need to get on now or not at all as his purchase all comes down to the fixtures. Alli is more a case of "best for that price" but annoyingly is more than a budget fifth mid but less than Lanzini/Bolasie whom are the start of the 4th mid player prices. I just can't bring myself to buy Wanyama/Surman and never want to play them so a little more for Alli makes sense to me but would I want to start Lanzini? For that matter, how confident would I be with Deulofeu once his fixtures get worse? I've gotten him though as the fixtures turning is about 7 GWs away so worth a gamble.

2FT - get Lukaku in surely? Pellè seems only option as Ighalo helps me get Aguero in (WC backup).
Payet --> Bolasie / Deulofeu / Lanzini with 2nd FT?

    Butland
Azpilicueta - Kolarov - Van Dijk
    Sanchez - KDB - Mahrez - Mané
    Pellè - Ighalo - Vardy

    Ruddy - Payet - Huth - Francis [2FT + 0.9m ITB]

    1. FantaCity
      • 11 Years

I would just sell Payet this week, then go into next GW with 2FT to decide if you still want Lukaku, or would be better off going straight for Aguero .... or even Kane

      1. The Count of Monte Cristo
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 5 months ago

That's true, but I really fear Lukaku going big this GW against Villa and is due to rise too.

Who would you sell Payet for? Bolasie?

At the moment I'm looking at Alli, although now he's scored for England, everybody is probably watching him. I think it's too early to make a good decision from the cheap midfield choices, but you're stuck with 2ft and need to use one ... good luck 🙂

    Hi all

    Front 8 of:

    Sanchez Mane KDB Mahrez Hoolahan
    Pelle Lukaku Vardy

    2FT, 3.5ITB

I want to do Mane, KDB, Vardy and Pelle > Lanzini, Ozil, Aguero, Kane.

Which, if any, should I do this week?

Currently leaning towards Mane, Vardy > Ozil, Kane, mainly due to Vardy's injury.

streaky player who has just embarked on a new streak.

or, imo it's pretty much just a slip and a penalty that have got him going. think abdi has looked a bigger (plus cheaper and non striker spot gobbling) threat recently

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.

I say he doesn't but the amount of time he gets off the bench depends on the situation. 45 if losing, 30 if drawing, might not even be risked if City are ahead.

Looking at your team, the other option is getting rid KDB when the time comes

Risky i know, but with Silva Aguero Sterling all back, it'll be hard for him to be the main man always.

Sanchez is a keeper because he has the potential to explode. Oezil...i don't have him but his form means you have to keep
