The Big Numbers – Defence – Last Four Gameweeks

We roll out the first in a series of three members articles this week, analysing the player data by position over the previous four rounds of fixtures. Everton and West Brom’s right-backs arrive on our radar along with Swansea’s skipper, whilst we also cast an eye over the recent defensive displays from Liverpool, Chelsea and the Baggies.

Ranked 650k (highest rank of the season 400k). Is it differential time? 12k my worst finish in the 4 previous seasons I've played. Any chance I could get up there? 150 points back so that's 10 points on the top 10k average every week

    De Gea
    Smith, Evans, Cresswell
    Mahrez, Alli, Sanchez, Ozil, Payet
    Kane (C), Afobe

    McCarthy, Aguero, Moreno, Simpson

2FT and 0.4 ITB and thinking Moreno > Stoke defender this week and benching Smith. any other ideas?

quite like Afobe in there (as bad as he's been in his last 2 games). He's more than likely to have a game in GW30 as well

      a lot like my team.
the problem is with that front 8 (Afobe aside) you're not going to be closing any gaps unless you get some captaincy diferentials. too many players have the same midfield + Kane + Aguero.
with the defence you haven't got many options that are going to produce big enough points either.

      1. Mr. O'Connell
        • 11 Years

Kane this week, then Sanchez next week for captaincy are decent differentials I think (hoping Sanchez can be the one to propel me up the rankings as he has a haul somewhere in him, even though I can't see it currently). And I agree, my defence is poor and has very little goal threat

Not much of a differential but it's a good move. I think you should focus on getting past gameweek 30 and then your options will open up.

Probably sensible. GW31 WC packed with differentials and DGW players. Maybe I'll have crawled up a couple of hundred k places by then

Hazard looked good. May be back in the starting lineup soon. Willian has to be the only option tho, only one who's nailed on

Pedro looked lazy and never tracked back which was frustrating to watch

      1. TheTinman

Pedro ran a lot. Shame it was headless. Charging 30m to close down the keeper for absolutely no reason... Then too tired to track the LB

    3. TheTinman
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 2 months ago

Hazard made one or two good dribbles, but never really threatened. Didn't get in the positions he used too. Pedro ran around a lot and probably looked more dangerous, but looked a bit headless.

By far the best player in that Chelsea attack is Willian. Oozed class, plus he is on all free kicks and most corners. Costa looked great too.

Townsend if Newcastle can improve. Hit the post the week before and scored last week. Plus got a game in GW30. He's on my radar. Problem is he will probably only be useful in toon home games.

Lanzini could be a shout although west ham's very good schedule is behind them. I would just be a little bit worried about game time for west ham mins atm. And would probably look for someone, who will have a game in GW 30 for you fifth mid spot.

5,5 is a tough price. For a 5th mid Lingard could be a shout after the ARS game (and of course if you believe Man U will get scoring goals at all.

Are you in favour of the FA Cup becoming a midweek competition with no replays ?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35588745

It would make the second half of the FPL season much easier to negotiate, by drastically reducing the number of blanks and DGW matches, although we will probably still get at least one, thanks to the League (Capital One) Cup final.

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Certainly spices up FPL but from a football fan's perspective, yes because it reduces the fixture congestion and havoc.

It would free up a couple of winter weekends for PL fixtures (current R3 and R4 weekends), and all but ensure that every side has a PL games every available weekend

That'd be sad to see, though I do think they could make the semi finals one-legged, maybe like the FA Cup playing them on a weekend at Wembley if they're worried about home advantage.

Spreading the Champions League round of 16 over 4 weeks ought to be the first thing on the chopping block.

Or better still, cup replays should be allowed to take place in the same midweeks as European matches.

😆 Honestly as an Arsenal fan priced out of the Emirates I would soo buy one of these!

I doubt that concern for elite FPL players will come into the decision though tbh

Could effect the number of PL games fans can attend, until recently I could only make midweek games, and many others can only make weekend games, due to work commitments.

    Lloris
    Borthwick-Jackon Bellerin Cresswell
    Alli Payet Mahrez Ozil
    Ighalo Kane Vardy (C)

    Elliott Firmino Moreno Simpson

    0 FT 7.1 ITB

    Anything worth a hit?

Looks okay, bit worried about having clashing defenders with Bellerin & Borthwick.. but that's why I asked.

Ok. Wanted to know your concerns. It will be a tight game and I would certainly not hit in that situation.

    Firminho to Sanchez or Arnie?

Current midfield Ozil, Mahrez, Alli, Payet, Firminho.

Sensible option I guess is Arnie as he is guaranteed a game in GW30? Also has good fixtures next 2 GW's and seems to do well against top teams?

If you have Ozil then I wouldn't go for Sanchez. Ozil involved in over 50% of Arsenals goals this season. When Sanchez scores it will probably be from an Ozil assist.

Yes, will wait until the cup games at the weekend and decide. I'm leader in my cash mini league but the top 5 all have Sanchez except for me at the moment, worried he will explode! Also not sure I like Ozil/Sanchez double up and have a lot of money tied up in Ozil...

Thanks for the advice everyone! Will wait for the Cup games this weekend, before making a decision!

Looks like Arnie is most popular and edging it for me so far!
