The Weekend Team News

Dele Alli is suspended for Tottenham’s final three league matches. Philippe Coutinho is doubtful for Liverpool’s trip to the Liberty due to illness, Everton’s defence is hit hard by injury and suspension for Bournemouth’s visit, whilst Santi Cazorla is back in the frame as Arsenal entertain Norwich at the Emirates.

Dele Alli will miss the rest of the season after he was handed a three-match ban by the FA for his altercation with West Brom’s Claudio Yacob on Monday evening.

Mamadou Sakho has been handed an initial 30-day suspension by UEFA whilst they begin to investigate the Liverpool defender’s failed drug test. The Reds are sweating on the fitness of Philippe Coutinho for Sunday’s trip to Swansea after he was forced off due to illness in last night’s Europa League loss at Villarreal.

Wilfried Zaha is rated as “50-50” for Palace’s trip to Newcastle due to a hamstring injury.

Everton are without injured trio Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman and Gareth Barry for the visit of Bournemouth. Ramiro Funes Mori serves the second of a three-match ban for the Toffees, whilst Roberto Martinez has revealed that teenage attacker Kieran Dowell could be handed a first-team opportunity after scoring a hat-trick for the reserves on Monday night.

Ciaran Clark is back in training ahead of Villa’s clash with Watford tomorrow. The defender will be included in the squad if he comes through training without any problems today, Erik Black confirmed. Kieran Richardson remains sidelined with a calf injury, whilst Gabby Agbonlahor has had his club suspension lifted and will be available for selection from next Monday.

Sunderland have a fully-fit squad for their visit to Stoke after Jeremain Lens recovered from the illness that ruled him out of last week’s goalless draw against Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic confirmed that West Ham have a clean bill of health for their trip to the Hawthorns.

Santi Cazorla is available for Arsenal’s home match with Norwich and “might be involved” after an extended period on the sidelines. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in first-team training but remains a major doubt.

Swansea are without Alberto Paloschi and Leroy Fer for the visit of Liverpool. The duo have been sidelined with hamstring problems amid reports that they may not play again this season.

Etienne Capoue is unlikely to play again this season after being forced off in Watford’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Palace with a knee injury. Quique Sanchez Flores has revealed that Odion Ighalo rejected the chance to fly back to Nigerian following the death of his father and is will be available for selection.

Adam Smith and Harry Arter remain sidelined for Bournemouth’s trip to Goodison, Eddie Howe confirmed earlier this morning. The Cherries boss also revealed that Max Gradel is “improving slightly” and is hopeful the winger will step up his fitness after missing out last weekend with a leg problem.

Tony Pulis is hopeful that Ben Foster will return to training today after missing Monday’s draw at Spurs with an ankle problem. Saido Berahino is back in training after missing out with a similar complaint, though Pulis will make a late decision on his availability. The Baggies boss went on to reveal he hopes to hand some minutes to youngsters such as Jonathan Leko, and Tyler Roberts before the season is over.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

How many hits are you taking this week? With Liverpool rotation continuing, Alli suspended, Gameweek 34 flops like Mitrovic and Gabriel continuing to be rotation risks and DGWK 37 players to stock up on, arguably hits are needed for many.

Who is in and who is out for you?

Or is everything fine and no hits are needed?

For me I've all sorts of problems.

      Alli out for the season
Sakho out for even more than the season
Mitrovic and Gabriel out of their starting line ups
Coutinho ill and unlikely to play in the league anyway
Firmino worryingly playing 90 minutes so a rotation risk.

For me an -8 hit is on the cards, but with the likes of Fabregas, Payet and Defoe in my sights I think that could pay for itself.

I'm .1 out of being able to get Carroll, Payet and Fabregas. Also with Lanzini and wanting to get Payet I'm not keen on tripling up in defence. I think Reid or Cresswell more likely to be my third.

This is a decision that only you can make as how that move sits in your team is key. If you have Payet and Lanzini then the triple up could be a bit much? Do you want Cresswell as well?

Also Defoe's lower price could allow a better move elsewhere.

                Lots to consider.

The simple fact of the matter is that both look great prospects for the double and both have cons as well.

Carroll has more competition for starts. Defoe is in a team that is not as attacking.

                  team as follows

                  Dalrow
                  PVA Bel Kosci

                  Sturidge Mitro

                  Robles Martial Ota Small

liking the carroll move a lot
but defoe too on fire and playing for their lives

on the mother hand WHM playing for europa spot and last few games before they shift to their new stadium .. so they might as well play for their fans

He can do damage as a sub....but with Liverpool rotation as well and no double I can't really afford to carry bench players like him, esp. when the likes of Defoe are starting and looking threatening.

Fab looks very reliable for the dgwk...nice and dull points accumulation. I'm looking at possibly Haz and Fab...but want to see one more game of Haz to see if Bou was a blip or not. I'm fairly certain Fab will do well though - I think he's already proven himself.

I'm 0.1 short of bringing in Fabregas for Ali

            Current team is
            Robles Darlow
            Gabriel Bellerin Fosu-Mensah Otamendi Lovren
            Milner Sanchez Lanzini Milner KDB
            Defoe Aguero Kun

I've got 2.1 ITB - my FT this week was already taking out Mitrovic for Defoe.

I can't see a way of taking out Ali with a player I want, I may stick for this week and make changes next week. Although that leaves me with a bench of Gabriel, Fosu Mensah and Alli.

            With doubts over Milner/KDB/Kun.

Even with a -8 I can't replace Fosu Mensah/Gabriel and Ali with players I want unless, I bring in Brady, but wouldn't want him this week anyway.

I'm thinking the same Jonty, at least over the next couple of weeks. How do these options sound?

        A) Alli, Coutinho -> Payet, Willian (-4)

Gabriel, Coutinho, Mitrovic out for Van Aanholt, Hazard, Defoe for a -8. Sakho and Alli will rot on bench for now.

Rationale for dropping Gabriel over Sakho is it frees up an Arsenal slot should I choose to triple up for Villa GW38.

I currently have 3 Arsenal players so want to free up a slot so I can get another midfielder for 38. Alli just doesn't have the value for an upgrade to a Chelsea mid. And I'm sick of Mitrovic 1 pointers!

Hello Jonty, It sounds like all of your line up issues are the same as mine! I am wondering how few transfers I can get away with cos there is little point in having a solid 15 player squad these days given we are near the end of the season. I'll probably take a -8 hit this week to ensure that I have 1 sub given the Firminio, Mitrovic and Gabriel risk. Sakho, Coutinho and Alli have to go cos Payet is worth 8.4 and Alli is nowhere near that; Coutinho is the only player that can free up the cash! My watchlist consists of Cresswell, Azpi, Aanolt, Payet, Barkley, Wilian, Mahrez, Hazard, Lukaku, Ighalo, Deeney, Defoe and Carroll. I feel I have to gamble on all the players with a DGW just to boost me past the players that did not wildcard a week before GW34.

That's why I did the hot topic, with Alli and Liverpool mids so well owned I suspected many others would be in the same boat.

As I said above - Basically anything that involves taking out suspended players and rotation risks for nailed on players with two games has to be a good move.

If whatever moves you make take that into account then you should be fine.

None. Did not stock up on Liverpool save for Migs, and didn't get Gabriel or Mitrovic.
Got badly burned taking players out early for hits in last few GW so will leave it til the DGW itself.
Will take a hit net week to get 7 DGW out, no more.

No hits, Sakho to PvA transfer, going to bench Gabriel and Cout and deal with them next week.

Going without hits last couple of GW's was good for me, escaped some traps like Ali, RLC and i'm happy atm that i kept Lukaku since i was strongly considering getting rid of him for a hit last GW.

      Out: Sakho
      Risk: Coutinho, KDB (Iwobi, Lanzini)

I think I will do KDB, Sakho -> Payet, PVA (-4)
not sure on Coutinho to Fabregas / Firmino just yet, I think i will wait and see after this GW.

      My current team is:
      Darlow
      Bellerin Smalling Simpson Rose
      Sanchez (c) Iwobi Lanzini
      Aguero Sturridge Kane

      Robles KDB Coutinho Sakho

Also, not many good options to replace Alli and Cout...don't see any good choices for DGW beside West Ham boys...i see people getting CHE players in but that could easy backfire, hard game vs Spurs this week and then i think there will be a lot rotation for DGW, with first team playing Liverpool game. Also, i think a lot of CHE players won't play 100% and will try to save themselves for EURO.

If you can field 11 this week, i would keep Cout for DGW because he should play CHE game, and i would rather have Cout + 4pts then Fab, Haz or Pedro.

-12 for me - tripling up on Sunderland with Mannone, PVA and Defoe coming in and taking a punt on Townsend - with two kind fixtures that they must win and win well, that's as good as a DGW for me. Killed Rose, Forster, Mane and Pelle - that triple Southampton tactic at Villa Park didn't quite pay off thanks to Koeman!

I have a fully fit team except Coutinho, and a starting bench so no probs this end.

Plan was Dann>PvA barring Liverpool injuries. I might do Coutinho>Payet instead now and get a sure fire DGW starter in early and cover a Payet points explosion..

The Dann transfer would have given me the money for Hazard If wanted next week though. Tough call...

Uff - I had Sakho, Coutinho and Alli and elected to remove Sakho for PvA before Alli turned into Cassius Clay.

Sadly all my decisions are now based on my minileague - ML leader is 3 points ahead, so it doesn't seem worth a hit.

Will keep Coutinho and hope he plays some part in the DGW, and move out Alli and Gabby (yet more deadwood) for Payet and Kaboul (doubling down on Sunderland) next week.

Hate holding but just seems the best course of action.

      Hey Jonty,
You think I should get in Defoe/Carroll in this week along with Pva for Sakho
AIS, my defene is: Sakho* Gabriel* Bellerin Delaney Simpson
Or should i get in Defoe and Fabre as I have the exact funds for both of them
Cheers and best of luck with your team for this weekend 😉

Already on -4 with PVA and Defoe IN, Mitrovic and Sakho OUT, waiting for Klopp's presser to decide on Coutinho so it will be -8.

Already got Defoe in for Pelle using my FT.

GW 36: Planning to get Chelsea mf and PvA/Cresswell for Alli and Sakho for -8.

      DGW 37: PvA/Cresswell and chelsea mf/costa for KdB/Martial for -4.

cout=payet so far, maybe gabriel pva -4 and kdb-fab-8
may just bench gabriel and hope kdb gets some game time
also got mign and lovren, but cout gabriel and kdb think need to be first to go

I've had to do Sahko to PVA.

Also got Alli and Gabriel, but won't be taking a hit as I have enough bench cover and don't see any standouts who will give me back those points.

Also I know if I take Gabriel out Wenger will bring him back into the starting line up, queue the CS & probably a goal to make it even worse! (hence why Gabriel will be in my starting line up this week)

      Alli --> Townsend for me.

May also take a -4 for Gabriel --> PvA (I'll only be doing it next week anyway)

      Current team is:

      Gomes
      Monreal / Simpson / Dier (??)
      Sanchez (c) / Ozil / Mahrez / Lanzini
      Defoe / Kun / Kane
Subs: Migs / Clichy / Coleman / Alli
      1FT, 3.9M ITB

Do we think Dier and/or Clichy will start? Sensible option would be Clichy -> PvA to pretty much guarantee 11 starters without a hit.

The more punty/interesting option that I'm leaning towards is Alli -> Townsend since I can see him outscoring Lanzini and Kun -> Deeney as I don't think Kun will be playing many minutes.

Following week could then be Haz or Fabs for Ozil depending on how they get on this week. Steering clear of all Liverpool outfield and also not convinced Carrol will keep scoring off the bench.

Kun KDB Coutinho Milner Coleman Sakho Gabriel all varying degrees of risks in my team.

Doing KDB/Sakho->Payet/PVA this gw for -4.
Benching Coutinho in favour of Lanzini, monitoring Liverpool situation in Europa.
Have Delaney to come in for Gabriel in the likely event he doesn't start.
Benching Coleman in hopes he's fit for 37.
Looking at Gabriel->Cresswell and maybe Coutinho->Fabregas -4 next week.

      -4 this week
maybe -4 next week also 🙁

      No hits, just Sakho->PvA
Took a hit last week and will probably end up taking another next week so I thought it was best I just did my FT this week

Alli, Rashford & Coutinho out for Iwobi, Defoe and Payet, (-8).

All in the plan. Set up for GW37 as well with a single transfer.

        8 years, 6 days ago

-4 last week (Alli & Defoe in for Lanzini & Lukaku)
-4 this week (PVA & Payet in for Sakho & Alli)
Probably a -4 next week (Carroll/NOR/CHE in for Gabriel/KDB/??) - too muc to decide on for that still.

        Mignolet (Darlow)
        Bellerin, Gabriel, Smalling (Simpson, Delenay)
Sanchez (c), Payet, Firmino, King (Alli)
        Kane, Kun, Carroll

I think I'm good for GW36 so saving my FT for DGW37

Not too keen on Aguero out for Costa, especially with Hazard in there as well.

Could you downgrade Haz to a Fabregas or somebody? Then keep Aguero? Either that or I think Sturridge for Costa is a better pick.

I'm on Aguero, but it feels like a default option. Ozil a decent option?

Although Ozil's returns haven't been great recently, it would be tempting after watching Kun midweek. He looks desperately in need of a rest or having his minutes managed at the very least. Also was grabbing at his knee early on Tues night? I think we'll see more Kelechi/Bony this weekend.

Very tricky aren't they. 2&3 for defenders. Can't call the mids but Milner could well be benched/rested so perhaps Lanzini is the better pick. Milner though if you think he'll start.

      De Gea, Darlow
      Bellerin, Rose, Fuchs, Sakho, Gabriel
      Sanchez, Firmino, Payet, Mahrez, Alli
      Aguero, Kane, Martial

      1FT, 0.5 in the bank

      A) Alli -> Townsend, play AOA chip (since defenders don't have great fixtures)
      B) Sakho -> PVA/Moreno (preparing for double, though neither have great fixtures this week)
      C) Save FT (have 2FTs for double and use this week for further scouting of DGW players, in light of rotation etc)

Very tricky one - tough to sell an Arsenal attacker before a home game to Norwich, but his minutes and form are a concern.

I'd probably make the move if for free. Sunderland look like they want to stay up and Stoke have been conceding a lot.

Could well be an option, actually. London derby, they need to keep up pressure on Leicester... hmm

I saw somewhere that without Alli, Spurs haven't won a game or something?

I'm not sure about that, but I'd imagine Eriksen will be moved more central now which can only be good for Kane..?

Sad times... Cout and Firm doubts for this gw, so is Gabriel. Not keen on taking a hit. What is the general thought about these two?

            Oh i see!

Cout is a player i didn't want to sell but the pool rotation is just frustrating. Lots of people thinking sell for Haz/Fab and be done with it.

Not sure whether cout will pay, fit up not. Certainly don't see Gabriel starting. They'll want mert up against moukani and have two clean sheets in a row with him in side.

He should start. 60/70mins max though.

Still enough time for him to do his thing and peace out.

Why all the love for Fabregas over Willian on here? Willy has much better stats.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm badly out of the loop with the house move and all.

      Sanchez Iwobi Lanzini KdB*
      Aguero Sturridge Defoe

      Robles Rose Clyne Coutinho
      0FT. 1.1m itb.

      A. No hits play KdB or Rose
      B. KdB > Hazard (-4)
      C. KdB > Payet (-4), but ML leader has Payet and I am chasing him
