The Stock Check – Gameweek 7 – Sunday

The Zlatan Ibrahimovic exodus is set to pick up pace after another blank at home to Stoke City. Dele Alli is in the goals as Spurs end Pep’s unbeaten run and Laurent Koscielny climbs the defender standings after a fortuitous clincher at Turf Moor.

On the Rise

Heung-Min Son
After notching a midweek Champions League winner in Moscow, the South Korean caught the eye yet again as Spurs ended City’s 100% Premier League record under Pep Guardiola.

Deployed as the lone striker, Son laid on the assist for Tottenham’s second and now has four goals and two assists in just four appearances – that’s already more than his output (four goals, one assist) for 2015/16.

Notably, Son also challenged Erik Lamela for Spurs second half spot-kick, missed by the Argentine.

Subject to over 56,000 transfers in already in the Gameweek – more than any player – he continues to look Spurs’ main threat in the ongoing absence of Harry Kane.

Dele Alli
Overshadowed by Son’s recent displays, the Spurs starlet has stepped up his consistency over the last few Gameweeks. After dropping from 8.5 to 8.2, Alli’s goal means he has scored or assisted in three of the last four, offering FPL managers yet another in-form option in the centre of the park.

Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman may have been fortunate with Sunday’s winner at Turf Moor, but his 15-point Fantasy Premier League haul has now catapulted him to the top of the defender rankings, 10 ahead of team-mate Hector Bellerin.

Koscielny has now netted twice in the last four, and with home encounters against Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth, allied with a trip to Sunderland in the next six, additional clean sheets look on the cards.

Theo Walcott
While Alexis Sanchez suffered a rare blank, Walcott earned the assist for Koscielny’s last-gasp winner to maintain his recent output.

Walcott has now scored or assisted in five of the opening seven Gameweeks and, at a price of 7.6, is just seven points behind the 11.2-priced Chilean.

Having also netted both goals in the midweek Champions League win over FC Basel, the Gunners winger is becoming increasingly influential.

Virgil Van Dijk
Overshadowed by full-back pair Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand in the previous two fixtures, the Dutchman served a reminder of his potential by grabbing the maximum bonus points away to Leicester.

Van Dijk has produced almost twice the number of clearances, blocks and interceptions than any defensive team-mate and also leads the way at the back for efforts on goal.

Claude Puel’s side now have six successive shut-outs in all competitions, though with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next five, the short-term schedule is somewhat taxing.

Joe Allen
The summer signing netted for the second successive Gameweek after bagging Stoke’s leveller at Old Trafford. Allen also scored at home to West Brom last weekend and, at a price of just 4.8 in FPL, is shaping up to be a viable value option as the fixtures turn in the Potters’ favour.

Daley Blind
Stationed at left-back once again, the Dutchman managed to pick up two bonus points at home to the Potters thanks to his all-round contribution. Blind has now produced 14 points in his two outings as a full-back, suggesting that a fit Luke Shaw will face a battle to regain a starting role.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
It’s one goal and a single assist in five for the United striker after Sunday’s blank in the stalemate with Stoke.

Ibrahimovic has dropped 0.4 in price in the last two Gameweeks and with the international break now upon us; the exodus is already picking up speed ahead of back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Over 56,000 FPL managers have parted company since the passing of yesterday’s deadline as the clamour for in-form midfield assets intensfies.

Aleksandar Kolarov
The Serbian retained his starting role despite an abject midweek display against Celtic. Sunday’s early own goal perhaps sums up Kolarov’s current lack of self-belief – with one clean sheet in seven now for City, Pep Guardiola will surely be considering a recall for Gael Clichy as he looks to bounce back from his first Premier League defeat.

Vincent Janssen
Dropped to the bench against City, it’s clear that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Heung-Min Son as the central striker in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. We may have been gifted an excellent new value option in midfield, but, in Janssen, we appear to have missed out on a new option up front.

Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy
While the goalless draw means that the Foxes have conceded just once in four home league fixtures, the Leicester City pair yet again failed to serve up the points.

Mahrez now has one assist in six and Vardy has netted twice in the first seven – both are still found in 14% of FPL squads, but we can surely expect extended sales over the break.

      1. Hasnt delivered much I'd guess. Mbokani deserved a chance.
      2. Neither, but Piet if you put a gun to my head.
      3. I think he is in Pochs best/preferred 11, but that does not mean nailed 100% of games. Only started 4 out 7 seven so far, thats too much benching for my liking.

    A. Baines/Rashford -> Kos/Austin -4
    B. Rashford -> Deeney

    Pickford Jakupovic
    Walker Baines Holebas Evans Amat
    Sanchez Coutinho Sterling Son Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

Not bad, but wouldn't sell Sterling. Ighalo to Deeney also looks a bit pointless. There's no need for a strong front 8, you can only play 7 of them.

The fixtures are just bad for next week. Most people are struggling with defensive fixtures next week. I planned the defs and the fixtures are decent till around GW13/14

I feel that Sterling's run is coming to an end and want to stay ahead of the pack. Ighalo looks like he will be dropped soon and replaced by Isaac Success. A strong front 8 allows flexibility with formation

True, but it wastes funds. Agree re. Ighalo, but I'd go for someone else like Defoe

Sterling will continue to perform imo

Defo don't get rid of Sterling. His run has ended? What does this mean? He is playing in the most offensive, high scoring team in the league and with KDB out is nailed on as one of the focal points in their attack...

I've got a coupple of questions concidering the shift in fixtures.. Iæve currently got this team:

    Foster / Jaku
Bellerin \ Alderweireld \ Clyne (Amat \ Kingsley)
    Sanchez \ Cazorla \ Firmino\ Antonio (Capoue)
    Costa \ Lukaku \ Deeney

I d like to replace Caz and Antonio with Son and Wallcott, but i need to get a goalkeeper aswell (wba has horrible fixtures). And of course Aguero...

    Mitb: 0.6
    FT:1

    A) Antonio -->Son
    B) Cazorla ..>Son\ wallcott
    C) Kingsley--> 4.7 defender and bench Clyne this gw
    D) others?

  8. Pirlø's Pen

    7 years, 7 months ago

    Pickford
    Bellerin Smith Holebas
    Sanchez Mane Firmino Son Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku

    1FT 0.5ITB.

Anything need a change or are we looking good?

Took a hit last night before price changes as I would have been priced out of the moves if I didn't act fast.

Went Antonio, Redmond-> Walcott, Son (-4). Walcott is essentially 9.5m mid mid when first choice and Son looks electric. He's averaging 4.5 shots a game and over 3 SiTB per game. Played up front vs City.

    GW8
    Heaton
    Valencia Evans Pieters
    Sanchez Payet Walcott Son
    Kun Lukaku Rashford

Pickford Hojbjerg Collins Amat 0.0m (-4)

Really liking the look of this now. I don't think the moves were kneejerky myself, what do you all think?

I think the moves were good. Just have to hope that Wenger doesn't mess it up with Giroud and possibly Ramsey coming into the side, which are both very possible.

Also don't be surprised to see Antonio biting you (and Redmond for this week in particular)

        Wenger doesn't usually change much.

Walcott has been Arsenal's best player this season so far. And RW looks his spot to lose. Long term, he is not nailed but so long as his form is good he will be.

Antonio is a much bigger risk to lose his place than Walcott. Two poor performances in a row and Lanzini and Zaza were both benched last GW. Redmond has a good fixture but his end product looks dire, I've kept the faith so long with him.
Agreed it has a lot of backfiring potential but I can see a lot of upside aswell.

Reckon you should be happy with the moves, but it's not that clear cut of a decision is all. Quite possible it could turn out to be bad

            • 12 Years
            7 years, 7 months ago

Definitely agreed. Ideally I would wait on the Redmond to Son for Gw9 instead but I'd be forced to take a hit then anyway. So thought why not catch the rise, form and free up my transfer for GW9 where it would likely have been spent on removing Redmond anyway (even if hes does well vs Burnley, fixture turn bad).

    2. Professor Red

Thats a highly knee jerk move mate.

      1. Nabs Kebabs
        • 12 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

How so? Walcott is as good as any mid in the game, infact he is the best mid in the game historically on PPM, in form and currently clear first choice RW for Arsenal.
Antonio has had two poor performances in a row. He would have to be a rotation risk once more.

The Son move is potentially knee jerky. But I had eyed him up even before the City game with his excellent stats. Redmond is not ideal to lose before BUR but his finishing has not improved under Puel as I first thought it would. Soton attacks looks a bit off in general except for the West Ham game (worst defence in the league so far).

Antonio hasn't played badly in either game, just not been in the points (mainly due to a general lack of team form).
He was also up front last game

Adrian, Reid, Kouyate, Noble are all nailed. Attack is a lottery, there are so many options: Payet nailed so fighting for three spots are: Zaza, Antonio, Lanzini, Feghouli, Tore, even Calleri/Fletcher could play upfront.

          Firmino over a defender surely.

I'm thinking about keeping Ibra tbh. Benteke (or anyone in for him this week seems so meh!) Wish we had a fit Kane to go for

Well getting Firmino means I'll have to keep Collins and play AoA and have no money to get an Arsenal defender so not totally clear cut.

I'd also get Kane as well if he was back. A shame indeed!!

Bellerin fot threat, but Mustafi was killing the BAPS yesterday, if Koscielny didn't score, he would have gotten 3 bonus points.

I have the same dilemma, trying to figure out which ARS defender to get.

Missed the Walcott rise so I'm now looking at a probable hit if I want him. Current team:

    Heaton - Pickford
    Baines - Lovren - Holebas - Johnson - Amat
    Firmino - Sterling - Antonio - Bolasie - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibra - Lukaku

I'm tempted by Ibra, Bolasie, Baines to Costa, Walcott, 5.4m defender

Could also not get Costa and get someone like Benteke/Deeney, still bring Walcott in and upgrade Baines to Bellerin/Kosc.

Or am I crazy to be going without Sanchez?

Wouldn't get Costa now. The lad is on amazing form, yes but fixtures not on his side after LEI. 4 yc's too. Maybe Ibra, Bolasie, Baines to Deeney, Sanchez, Arsenal def?

Think fixtures are okay and he's in great form. I'm thinking he gets a yellow card in the United game to serve his suspension in league up.

I have no money in the bank so can't do the move you mentioned. Would have to be Deeney and Sanchez in for Ibra and Bolasie with 0.6 found elsewhere.

Not sure I want to downgrade Baines that much. Other option is Antonio to Snodgrass / Shaqiri - something like that.

I think you need to avoid the Theo train tbh. It looks great atm, but Giroud will come in at some point, that's a definite. Ramsey return also imminent. Wenger won't be happy with the same XI again imo.

Costa fixtures (and 4 yellows) put me off too

I've always said to myself in this sort of predicament, prioritise getting out the failing players. I am in a similar predicament this week too..

    Morning all. Quick question.

    Sell one:
    A) Lovren
    B) Baines

    Replace with
    A) Bellerin
    B) Koscielny

    Will be for a -4.

Need a bit of advice here guys, w/c is in effect current draft is

    Heaton - Pickford
    Vertonghen - Holebas - Evans - A Smith - Amat
    Sanchez - Firmino - Sterling - Son - Capoue
    Aguero - Benteke - Defoe
    0.9m ITB

I want to double up on Liverpool players for the upcoming run, so most likely will be taking out Sterling for Coutinho (although Alli and Lallana for Sterling and Son is a second option)

Do I then Swap A) Benteke & Defoe for B) Lukaku & Austin or use the extra 1m do c) beef up the defence (A Smith to 5.6m or Vertonghen to Koscielny?)

Any other 4.5m DF I should be considering?

      • 10 Years

Defense is weak. Ship Evans out , West brom has very tough fixtures. Holebas only if u think attacking returns.

Capoue has had his run, can downgrade him.

      benteke Defoe both are inconsistent.
