The Stock Check – Gameweek 8 – Monday

A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning all....looking for some opinion fellas:

    Heaton - Foster
    Bellerin - Walker - Holebas - Pieters - Amat
    Sanchez - Walcott - Firmino - Antonio - Fletcher
    Aguero - Austin - Rashford

2FTS and 1.1m in the bank.

    How does these moves look:

    Antonio ---> Lallana
Rashford ---> Bony (or other striker)

    D) Coutinho (-4)
    E) Alli (-4)

Already on Arsenal double up Sanch & Wal. No Tadic as I have Austin. Arnie 4 YCs is a no go for me right now.

Hey guys, have come out with 20 points this gameweek, my worst ever!

Despite this, I'm not too worried about my team, any necessary changes?

    Foster | Pickford
    Koscielny | Walker | McAuley | Smith | Amat
    Son | Firmino | Sanchez | Sterling | Capoue
    Benteke | Deeney | Aguero

Also were people aware Aguero/Son weren't going to start this week, or did that surprise everyone? I wasn't on here over the weekend.

Haha. Well. He did gave a thorough reason why. Taking a look at Pep's track record with Bayern for his treatment on Lewa during international breaks and the fact that Aguero has a minor injury in one of these games.

But yeah, if that penalty goes in, it doesn't matter if he starts or not. But, personally, I feel his penalty taking is in a mess. I think he missed like 4-5 already this season?

Valencia, Williams, Holebas, Evans, Amat - 2FT, 0 idb

    A) Williams -> Clyne

    D) Evans to 3.9 and Williams -> Vertonghen, keep Capoue for now

Antonio to Allen gives me Austin/Rondon at best.

Isn't Antonio a better option than that?

    Morning gents,

Just a quick update to let you know the data has been refreshed to include GW8.

    https://public.tableau.com/views/FantasyPremierLeaguePlayerAnalysis/PlayerAnalysis?:embed=y&:display_count=yes

One thing I just realized, I'm not sure how the fixture ticker at the bottom will cope with double gameweeks so may have to spend some time fixing that when the need arises.

Aside from a lucky captain on Walcott, not an amazing week for me! 🙂

    Cheers,
    Ryan.

Would you do Sterling->Walcott with this team for free?

    Cech
    Williams - Holebas - Walker
    Firmino - Sanchez - Snodgrass - Sterling
    Aguero - Lukaku - Defoe

    Pickford - Evans - Gooch - Smith

I need some advice guys. Basically I've got 2 options this week, don't want to take a hit to do both.

    A) Courtois >>> Cech, and play Capoue this week.

    B) Redmond >>> Son/Sterling/Liverpool mid (any help deciding which would be awesome!), meaning that I keep Courtois for the United game.

Front 8 looks like this at present -
    Redmond, Capoue, Ozil, Walcott, Antonio
    Deeney, Lukaku, Aguero

    Thanks!

B for me with one of LIV mid, by the way Courtois against ManU is almost certain CS 🙂 have you seen yesterday's game?

Yeah I watched the whole game - I don't think Mourinho will set his stall out like that against Chelsea at home though.
Think I will go with B though, thanks!

    There's 3 moves I want to make...

    A) Ozil to Walcott - frees up cash to upgrade the Def or 3rd attacker..
    B) Antonio to Allen - Toni cooling off and playing def? - also frees up nice cash to upgrade all round
    C) Valencia to clyne/lovren- Chelsea away v great fixtures for LIV.. would prob go Clyne..

    Grant,
    Valencia, Jagielka, Mustafi,
    Sanchez, Ozil, Sterling, Antonio, Capoo,
    Kun, Lukaku

Jaku, diomande, Kingsley, Love (needs upgrading this bench!)

    Thoughts ?? Thx

How many free transfers have you got? How much cash in the bank?

0.1 ITB and only 1 Ft

And to below, yes that's why I want to downgrade so I can upgrade the bench!! 🙂

As there's hits involved then, I'd probably just do C.

      So you're playing 3-5-2?

Horrible idea to have capoue and Allen playing as 4th and 5th mids

He's just said that if he takes out Antonio for Allen then it would free up the cash to upgrade his third forward...

Yep.. and potentially upgrade a def too! Needs more balance for sure

    Morning all,

So had a mare last GW like a lot of folks around here, made worse by opting for Alexis over Theo (for hit), and putting armband on Kun. Feel like I'm still too hacked off to make a rational decision fo next GW, so could you guys please help by selecting a letter as below?

A: Baines > Kos (my original plan, so have exact coin)
    B: Antonio > Wally
    C: Something else?

    Many thanks.

    Baines, Pieters, Evans, Friend, Amat
    Sanchez, Sterling, Antonio, Firmino, Fletcher
    Costa, Aguero, Rashford
    1FT; £0.8 ITB
