The ScoutCast – Episode 202 – Delirious

Hands up, this ScoutCast is a bit scruffy.

Signed off work and delirious with man flu, we had to coax Granville to keep him from his sick bed. Fortunately, the fact he had a decent Gameweek helped persuade him.

However, he did insist on an early kick-off, with no pre-match warm-up. So Jonty and I were ill-prepared and it also meant that, head frazzled by a Lemsip overdose, Granville forgot to lock his children in the cupboard before we started.

Imagine the horror when they wandered in to hear Granville gloating about Yannick Bolasie.

Of course, you don’t have to imagine – you can join Jonty and myself as we risk contracting Granville’s affliction in order to talk about Fantasy Football for an hour.

Steered by another round of community questions, we also dip into Stoke assets, the captaincy, attacking defenders and, inevitably, with his transfers out stats climbing quicker than Granville’s temperature, we discuss Aguero’s fading star.

If you can bear to brave the chaos of this latest germ-ridden episode, then you can view the Google Hangout version, first published on our YouTube channel, in the second player below.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for news on future live episodes.

You can restrict your sensory experience of Granville’s cold to just audio by clicking here or streaming using the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Theo-Firmino-Capoue-Coquelin-Fletcher midfield (yes, I know it's rubbish, planning on freeing up defensive funds next week).

    0.2 in the bank.

    Theo>Alli/Redmond/Shaq/Allen?

    Lost on last page:

Team as below. I have 2 FT and 0.1 in the bank.

    Should I:

    a) Walcott and Snod ---> Lallana and King
    b) Snod ---> King
    c) Walcott, Snod and Williams ----> Firminho, King and Pieters

I bought Theo @ 7.5 so would lose half the gain.

    Cech (pick)
    Williams, Holebas, Clyne Daniels (amat)
    sanchez, walcott, mane, bolasie (snod)
    deeney, aguero (defoe)

keep walcott and switch snod out . you could also switch clyne + snod out for shaqiri and a cheap defender

You wouldn't lose half the gain, a player is only worth his selling price. Your effective gain would be 0.3. That's good business, bank it and move on

        • 14 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

sorry, yes that is what i meant. but if i ever want him back it will cost me the extra 0.3 is what i was saying.

        1. Wardinator
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

He's likely to drop in price if he's missing this weekend and then the fixtures toughen. So if you ever want him back chances are he'll be less than 8.1, and even if that's the case, you'll at least have a higher selling price next time round.

I'd just do Wally & Snod -------> Firmino & Allen

Should have just enough money right?

agonisingly 0.1 short so would have to do couthinho or even lalana and strengthen up front next week

C here mate, you need to remove Snoddy and you can get rid of Wally as you have Sanchez to cover Arsenal going forward.

Which King do you mean? Lei or Bou? Not sure about either to be fair - how much do you have to play with for your extra mid if you do Wally + Williams out for Firmino and Pieters?

      1. razmo
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

I meant Bournemouth King. They have great fixtures. i wanted stanislas but too risky as not sure if he will play (i suspect he will).

Id have 5.6 left if i did firmino and williams in.

I am top 5k currently so i feel like this is a huge decision!!

Nice! I know what you mean about it being a big decision; I've got it wrong so far this year in terms of when I've had to make a call for transfers, but it's a marathon and not a sprint hehe

Erm, cool. Do you have any Stoke cover? Allen might be worth punting on for the time being in that price range?
I've been shopping around in that area for a while but there's really no value there lol - Allen is good because he gives you cash ITB and seems to have the stats to merit short-term inclusion in the team. Other than that, yeah King is a good option too, but I wouldn't be expecting returns from him either. So I'd be tempted to take the cheapest option and keep back the 0.3 or whatever it is for later use...

Def up to you, though! Seems like you're doing well without any help from me.

im an agonising 0.1 short for that! would have to do coutinho which doesnt excite me quite as much.

Alternatively could do Lallana and look to strengthen up front next week.

Coutinho is a no-brainer! He's looking awesome, and Liverpool have a great run. I've got Firmino-Lallana by circumstance (chose Firmino on WC and I'm not going to shift him for Cout) but he's a great option!

    Slaven Bilic:
"We have a few knocks and all that, but nothing bad, so all those who played should all be fit and available for Sunday."
"Andre Ayew is very close to being able to start. He had a long break. It's great to have him back. He came on and did really good."
"We changed the system a bit. OK, it's important, especially when the results come, but it's more about the players' movement."
"Cheikhou Kouyate helped to stabilise the defence and also helps us to create from the back."

    Foster (Pick)
    Walker, Holebas, Lovren (Cameron, Amat)
    Sanchez, SON, Mane, Allen (ANTONIO)
    Kun, Lukaku, DEENEY

As things stand, banking this week's FT to do -4:

    b) Hazard, Redmond, Gray/Llorente/Vokes

Very unlikely, but what I normally do if I'm in your situation is try to keep on here to see what the rumours are saying on Twitter (unless you tweet, in which case that's obviously the best place for it), then I guess use your judgement on whether you move or not!

Obviously take the rumours with a pinch of salt: one guy (@AFCamden) was being bandied around here as authoritative on who was playing for Arsenal 2 weeks ago, but never said anything in the run up to the game when everyone was unsure about Sanch starting post international break

                        Backline needed surgery.

So a bit of a boring move. Collins -> BainesV2.0 (Holebas)

                        Leaves me with this lot.

                        Pickford
                        Valencia Pieters Holebas
                        Sanchez Payet Walcott Son
                        Kun Lukaku Austin

                        Heaton Evans Hojbjerg Amat

Armband is on Sanchez but with the Cazorla doubts I may take a punt. Either Son or Lukaku if I don't go with Alexis.

Nice. Problem for me is I'm losing the 0.5m that I earmarked for a defensive upgrade.

Might have to downgrade Williams next week to raise funds for a Valencia upgrade.

Looking at your team, it would make sense to do a defence transfer next GW due to the poor fixtures.

I'd plan to do Williams to Francis(SUN).

I'm planning on holding Valencia but he can be upgraded in the next few GW's since the fixtures are a bit tough. But for now I'd just have the Williams move planned.

Love the Arnie diff btw. Can see a nice haul for you this GW from him.

just feel overall Coutinho will get me more points has more shots than any other Pool player plus Firmino seems more focused on the defensive side

do not like it at all as a -8. Maybe not even if it was -4!

I planned next week to do Walcott -> Chadli even if Theo had a big game tomorrow. Do it now for -4? Chadli against MCI defence could easily score at least 4 points more than Capoue (despite playing vs Hull his 0,5 shots on goal per game are not intriguing enough) Or stick with Walcott(Capoue) for now and do it tomorrow evening without a hit?

      Wouldn't do it for -4

If you think he will outscore him by at least 4 points, then yes do it.

I don't think he will though.

In light of the "should be ok for Tuesday" terminology, would you consider Walcott -> Sterling for a hit worth while?
Sterling has the fixtures over the next 4 games.

Could look at Ozil as a replacement for Walcott - but then 2 tougher games than the city fixtures.
Can city continue their poor streak?

Be tempted to do Ozil, but we (Arsenal) tend to have a bad November as injuries + fixtures pile up!

I like your Sterling idea, but be warned that he's falling in value, and is susceptible to rotation with Navas, Nolito and co in the frame to play in that role.

Any scope to get (another) Liverpool mf in? Seems - apart from Stoke - to be the team with the magic form+fixtures blend to double down on...

Arsene Wenger's press couldn't have gone much worse for us.

Walcott very unlikely to take part this weekend.
Cazorla a doubt which means Sanchez(c) could easily fail. Arsenal were toothless last weekend due to the midfield partnership of Elneny and Coquelin which provided no drive or smooth transition to attack.
