The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – First Round Draw

This evening we roll out the first round draw of the 13th instalment of our open to all Fantasy Premier League cup competition.

This follows a qualification round, which saw 1017 managers join previous winners Jonty, Gribude, Ninja_Fit_Saints, Mch, Wild Rover, Mark and our reigning champion I Casillas Winning in this first stage of the competition, which takes place in Gameweek 12.

The cutoff score was 53, with rank deciding entry for those who scored exactly that tally in Gameweek 11. The rankings threshold was 73,759.

For this latest contest there are more than £1,000 worth of prizes for UK based entrants courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well as £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers at the end of the competition.

All UK entrants who took part in qualifying were also sent details of how they can receive a £10 free credit when they play their first FanDuel game. This is still valid and can used anytime during the competition.

Among our former winners Mark will take on Buzzedagain, who is ranked 362,422 places below him, while I take on Bash Villa, whose top 10,000 rank makes a mockery of my lowly sub one million placing.

Wild Rover has drawn another well known community opponent, Stilicho, in the first round, Gribude will face Optimus Clyne and Ninja Fit Saints takes on R32omon.

Elsewhere among our winners, MCH has a match up with Sporting, while I Casillas Winning faces Sticky Toffee Pudding, who is in the top 20,000 in the overall rankings.

Other notable match ups include Scoutcaster andy85wsm’s draw with Gamez Rodriguez and Torres Magic’s match with jimbob.

Parm and Baines on Toast will be going head to head in this first round, as will two other community regulars Kings of Lyon and Pompeyfan.

Others taking on our moderators and contributors include Mata is the Juan, who faces Spencer, and Jafooli who takes on Ryan.

The highest ranked manager in the competition is F.C Harlech, who will be thankful of his 120th placing as he gained the cut-off score of 53 in Gameweek 11. His highest overall ranking this season was 10th in Gameweek 7.

Another who is familiar with a high rank is 2012/13 FPL champion Tom Fenley, who takes on Pink Unites.

The full first round draw can be found here.

Good luck to those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

    Who to bench?

    1) PVA (HUL) - good fixture and attacking threat. Not playing for a team win a great defensive record.
    2) Pieters (BOU) - good fixture and playing against a team that often blanks away fro home.

My other two defenders are Alonso with attacking and clean sheet potential. And McAuley who also has both attacking and clean sheet potential and playing (BUR) who have concealed the most headed goal attempts in the last four GW's so Gareth has to play.

I hate benching PVA with his impressive attacking threat, especially against Hull. But it hard to really bench Oieters when he has a good chance of a clean sheet.

Bench posters easy. Zero attacking threat and stoke will likely concede.

Alright chaps, I may be in a bit of a predicament. What to do with this lot:

    Chadli (50%)
    Shaqiri (50%)

Tempted to keep as I think they will both be fit but I also have callum Wilson (sigh)

      From a Shaq owner.

Even with the fixtures Shaqiri has?

Who would you replace him with?

Siggy looks good in the long term along with Snodgrass but I planned to do Capoue to snodgrass so would look at someone else

I was planning on doing capoue to snodgrass as he's dropping like a stone.

My long term plan is downgrade 3rd striker to 4.5 then get a midfield 5 of:

Firmimo, Hazard, chadli, and two of Snodgrass/Siggy/ozil/Walcott

BPS magnet Lallana is not too far behind and could conceivably catch him. Plus the £1.5m saving goes a long way.

I wouldn't put my ownership of Lallana as a seal of his quality. He is what he is - good value source of the occasional haul in an attacking Liv side.

Coutinho is the main draw ( I own him too 🙂 )

                  I'm
Not keen on A or B questions - too restrictive. There's always a C. And also need to consider loads of other issues like what other players you have and what other players you want.

My team is linked if you have a cheeky 2 mins for a gander.

I'm trying to leave £1m in the bank to get Kane for Lukaku in GW13.

Would love some new defenders a'la Jamaat, Brunt, Alonso but that might be a bridge too far.

Everyone has said A. I'm tempted to go B. Sometimes you get the biggest rewards by challenging the groupthink.

Siggys price drop makes him very tempting. I'm just worried that Swansea will be beyond hope by GW15 under Bob Bradley. They're starting to look like Hull and Sunderland.

Could Emre Can be a worthwhile fifth midfielder? Seems to have fired in quite a few shots over the last few weeks and only 4.8.

Not sure how guaranteed his minutes are.

Not sure I particularly want to triple up on starters. Have Coutinho and Firmino which is enough for me.

The last time I had both a goalkeeper and defender in my starting team playing in the same team on MNF its was a great Monday night. The Swans hosted Watford last season.

Fabianski got a cleansheet, save points and I think a bonus point.
Ashley Williams got a cleansheet, goal and 3 bonus.

This GW I'm playing both Foster and McAuley. Come on Gareth, get your head on it.

Who should I replace Bellerin & Shaqiri with?

Brunt (Have Foster but BUR at home)/ Alonso (mid but then TOT, mci)

        And

Chadli (After price drop), Lallana (Have Coutinho, Firmino LOL but they have the fixtures and are on fire), Gundogan (ML Leader already has him), Snodgrass? (Decent fixtures I guess but its Hull.. And it will be for a hit..), Walcott (But I'd have to go with Brunt instead of Alonso..)

        Or any other suggestions? Thanks..

Really depends on your 3 defenders. If you can upgrade a GK, you could see an instant improvement there as it's harder to hide an average GK.

Speaking of Benteke. It's Swansea next week for Palace, that must surely be a game that the Swans need to try and win, it could be exactly the sort of game that turns into a goal fest....mainly for Palace. Zaha and Benteke for the week.

Any KDB owners out there? Looking to move him on GW14?

        Tempted to move:
        KDB, Cameron, Amat >
Walcott, Alonso, Cedric (3FT ideally, in GW14-15)

Might change between now and then, but do they look like good moves?

I'll have up to 8.2 and GW14 to decide who I want.
That should be enough time to see if Walcott keeps his spot with everybody returning from injury.
