The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – First Round Draw

This evening we roll out the first round draw of the 13th instalment of our open to all Fantasy Premier League cup competition.

This follows a qualification round, which saw 1017 managers join previous winners Jonty, Gribude, Ninja_Fit_Saints, Mch, Wild Rover, Mark and our reigning champion I Casillas Winning in this first stage of the competition, which takes place in Gameweek 12.

The cutoff score was 53, with rank deciding entry for those who scored exactly that tally in Gameweek 11. The rankings threshold was 73,759.

For this latest contest there are more than £1,000 worth of prizes for UK based entrants courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well as £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers at the end of the competition.

All UK entrants who took part in qualifying were also sent details of how they can receive a £10 free credit when they play their first FanDuel game. This is still valid and can used anytime during the competition.

Among our former winners Mark will take on Buzzedagain, who is ranked 362,422 places below him, while I take on Bash Villa, whose top 10,000 rank makes a mockery of my lowly sub one million placing.

Wild Rover has drawn another well known community opponent, Stilicho, in the first round, Gribude will face Optimus Clyne and Ninja Fit Saints takes on R32omon.

Elsewhere among our winners, MCH has a match up with Sporting, while I Casillas Winning faces Sticky Toffee Pudding, who is in the top 20,000 in the overall rankings.

Other notable match ups include Scoutcaster andy85wsm’s draw with Gamez Rodriguez and Torres Magic’s match with jimbob.

Parm and Baines on Toast will be going head to head in this first round, as will two other community regulars Kings of Lyon and Pompeyfan.

Others taking on our moderators and contributors include Mata is the Juan, who faces Spencer, and Jafooli who takes on Ryan.

The highest ranked manager in the competition is F.C Harlech, who will be thankful of his 120th placing as he gained the cut-off score of 53 in Gameweek 11. His highest overall ranking this season was 10th in Gameweek 7.

Another who is familiar with a high rank is 2012/13 FPL champion Tom Fenley, who takes on Pink Unites.

The full first round draw can be found here.

Good luck to those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

Morning dzzz, thinking whether to take a hit for a defender and if so, which one...have 1.5m itb

    Heaton -- grant
Fuchs pieters Amat --- smith holebas
    Walcott firmino coutinho hazard
    Kun Kaku Austin

    A: Amat >> McCauley or 5.6m def
    - removes a non starter
    - given my other defenders, need a defender with a good gw15 fixture which wba don't have

    B: smith >> alonso
    - plan was to bring in a Chelsea def in gw15 so might as well bring now
    - Bournemouth have tough fixtures so probably a good time to get rid
    - always a small chance that Amat will become a starter again
    - if not, will need to spend another transfer later to remove Amat

Surprised, would think the pref would be to remove a non starter if taking a hit and esp since Chelsea have two tough games where I don't see them getting a cs

    Fuchs Pieters Holebas Amat Love
    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Allen Rodwell
    Kun Tekkers Costa

    1.1 itb and 1FT

    1) Love > Mcauley/Brunt
    2) Sanchez + Tekkers >> Hazard + Lukaku for -4
    3) Sanchez + Love >> Hazard + Alonso for -4

Tnx! That does sound the best, it's just that at the start of the season I thought it ain't a bad idea to double up on WBA in the back.. nowadays I think it would be a miracle if they kept that cs... let's see that happening this gw !

It happened to me before this year.. both time mcauley scored I had him benched ... so yeah maybe mustafi time to do that..

I could actually play with 4 in the back but would need to bench gundogan against cp..

    Alonso / Brunt / Cedric
    Firmino / Hazard / Coutinho / Snodgrass

Next week is it mad to do:

Sanchez Firmino Costa to Ibra Wally KDB
It looks sideways but i have Chelsea and Pool cover. I just think Ibra is going to go large very soon.
My alternative was this week to Do Costa to Victor and Capoue to KDB

There is a simple way to resolve all this flagging and price protection stuff. Stop protecting prices when players are flagged. Why should a player's price be protected? If people want to buy let them buy and bump up the price. If people want to sell then let them sell and push down the price. If you want it to be a marketplace make it a proper marketplace. If a company announces bad results you don't see the stock exchange and regulators protecting that company's stock price do you.

I know mate. I'm running with it. Lukaku and Costa have been very consistent and Ibra and Kane could start firing consistently at any point also which makes it hard to swap funds to get one of those in. In saying that my midfield is currently Sanchez, Hazard, Firminio, Coutinho and Allen as fifth. These mids have been just as consistent, even better than those strikers.

I have that right now. I quite like it tbh. Both Austin and Defoe are better than midfield options at the same price, and there are a few midfielders at Lukaku's and Costa's prices I prefer over the pair.

Do they? West Ham have dropped off remarkably as an attacking force. Bournemouth is probably the best of the bunch. And Spurs have a far better defence than your 3 cheapies

    Team:

    Pick
    Kelly Walker Fuchs
    Firmino Coutinho Alexis Redmond
    Lukaku Aguero Deeney

    Grant Fletcher Amat Holebas

1,2m in bank. The plan was to do Haz in for Alexis, but because of the turn of events I´ve backed from it. The plan is to bring Hazard in for Redmond in 3 gw's by downgrading Lukaku.

So what would you do this week?

    A. Save transfer
    B. Kelly to Evans
    C. Something else

Chadli v Milner v Snodgrass (v Lallana) for those of us skimping on a 4th midfielder.

Thoughts on Walker to Alonso this week for a hit? Earlier in the week I was leaning towards doing it, but now I think it's a bit unnecessary. It would be a long term move as I think I'd have Alonso in my team for a while, and I don't want to own Walker around Christmas rotation time. Thoughts?

    1. Respect My Authoritah
      • 10 Years

Done similar (Clyne to Alonso). Obviously avoiding a hit is preferable, but I'm really squeezed for funds and I have too many transfers that need doing over the next few weeks so a hit in another week was inevitable

      1. President John F. Keninnsie
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

Yeah my thinking was similar. Also, Alonso having a couple of hard fixtures after this week means if I'm getting him in I'd like to have him for the Boro game...

Granted Chelsea do look good for another clean sheet at Boro, but then the next 2 fixtures are very difficult to bank on.

Also, it's a Spurs side, which are the strongest defence in the league and have been for over a year now. It could all backfire.

Its a transfer you will be making so why might as well do it now. Another CS and his value could go up another 0.3. Guess it just depends if you want to have players in place. Been more proactive myself this season and it is doing ok. Feels that the way things are taking the risk to get in early is key.

Is it worth my while getting Bellerin out for a -4 this week. pretty annoying that Chelsea have tough fixtures coming up. No immediate obvious replacement

Probably if it means you can only field 10 players?

Is it scoutcast tonight? How do we submit a question for the community questions bit they do? I've actually got one this week

Look for a Hot Topic to be created.
Ask there. If there isn't any, chances are high that there won't be any scoutcast on the evening

        Good stuff 🙂

I tested it a few days ago and loved the sidebar on the right now. Hated having to go back to the homepage to see new comments etc

Aside from no visibility over upvotes (Ryan already fed that back)

Morning Andy. All good on the mobile, big improvement!

Still hate the ticker on the desktop though, losing the hold and drag function (and having to use multiple arrow clicks instead) annoys me no end.

That's been requested a few times now (to bring back the drag function), I know some of the other mods have been on about it behind the scenes too.

I'm pretty sure it's on the list of things to change but that list is quite long 🙁

You're a mod - shuffle it to the top of the list! 😉

      in mobile looks good.

Only needs the sidebar in desktop (when we are checking an article, like this one, and we only have the site open in half of our computer screen). it doesn't appear. we need to go to home page

            Hmmm okay.

But that's only happening because you don't have the full desktop showing right?

Is a good team value important? I know it's handy to have more money for the second WC but do consistently successful players chase TV or just end up with it from good early bandwagon picks? The best place of the top five valued teams is 2.8m.

1ft and happy with my team, 2 bench players that have lost their place, is it worthwhile sorting 1 out?
