Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs Bournemouth

After Stoke’s narrow win at Vicarage Road, we now make our way to the Emirates as Arsenal entertain Bournemouth at 2.15pm.

Having led the line against PSG in midweek, Olivier Giroud drops back to the bench, despite netting five times in his last five appearances across all competitions.

Alexis Sanchez is stationed up front, then, with his 22% FPL owners looking for an improvement on the form that has seen him score in just one of the previous six Gameweeks.

Certainly, we need the Chilean to step up in a weekend where Liverpool pair Philipp Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, along with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, failed to deliver the goods.

Utilised off the bench against PSG, Theo Walcott returns to the starting XI, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also finding a place in the hosts line-up.

      How do the automatic substitutions actually work? Is it the case that a player can only be substituted for another player of the same position, or does the formation automatically change?

      This week I played a 5-3-2 formation, but both Shawcross and Stones didn't play. My first to substitutes are Son and Benteke. At the end of the game week, will my formation automatically change to a 3-4-3 to accommodate the two fit substitutes?

        Yes, it'll change to 343.

        The formation will always adjust, but you always have to play 3 defenders.

        Son and Benteke will come in. Auto subs will change your formation. You always have to have at least 3 defenders, which in this case, you do.

        Yes, it will.
        Any subs can come on for players who didn't play if you at least have 3 defenders, 2 mids and 1 striker in your final squad

          Yes. Substitutes are for any positions, as long as you end up with at least 3 defenders, 3 midfielders or 1 forward in each scenario.

          (and 1 keeper of course!)

                I'm planning Lukaku to Kane. Already have the above 3. So tempting to get rid of the high priced big hitters. But keeping them and shuffling your team around them never fails to pay off in my experience. There's enough lower priced talent to make it work.
