The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – Fifth Round Draw

With a break in our open to all Fantasy Premier League cup competition during the midweek fixtures, we spend some time this evening to see who has made it through to fifth round, which takes place during Gameweek 17 this coming weekend.

A reminder that, for this latest contest, there are more than £1,000 worth of prizes for UK based entrants courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well as £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers at the end of the competition.

In addition the highest scoring manager each round wins a £30 FanDuel credit, with community regular Moin earning this prize after his 65 point Gameweek 15 haul. He next faces msq22 in round five.

The next four highest scoring managers in round four win a £10 FanDuel credit. These will be handed out to Pinky Unites, who scored 63, DJDave1979, who scored 61 along with twobitgooner, and BC1, Bashvilla, Hagop, who all hit the 60 point mark.

The highest placed manager left in the competition is 216 ranked Bacuna Matata, who along with Pink Unites, won a £30 FanDuel voucher for the top highest score back in the third round.

The unfortunate manager to face this early frontrunner to win the competition is lowlifegimpe, who is ranked 337,555.

In a closely fought contest, our only remaining Fantasy Football Scout staff representative, TorresMagic, has made it through to round five, after squeezing past Zambhino10 by just a single point.

The moderator has another tough encounter in store when he takes on Smooth Rossi, who at 6,687 in the overall rankings is more than 7,000 places above him.

Other eye catching ties taking place in round five include Funkyav’s clash with Big Phil Soccer Team and Cobberlsnz taking on Bash Villa, who incidentally sent me packing back in the first round.

The fourth round results can be found via this link, while the full fifth round draw can be found here.

Good luck to those still involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

Yep it was never going to anyone else because of that. Personally I'd rather it was purely based on how well the player played not what the team achieved. They already got their trophies for that.

Ronnie will want one more so he can equal Messi's five balloon doors.

What really annoys me is how players like Modric and Iniesta don't even make the top 20. Even as a Barca fan, Modric was unbelievable last season. Would have him at any team in a heartbeat.

Award is too focused on stats and not on actually how someone plays in each and every game.

    Morning all,

Thought I’d add my two penn’orth on the captaincy debate for this week.
I’ve currently got a choice of five big hitters in my team, and, I think, probably all the players anyone is seriously considering this week – Kane, Costa, Ibra, Alexis and Hazard.

The ownership figures for each are: Costa 52.2%, Haz 38.5%, Alexis 35%, Ibra 27.5%, Kane 19.4%, so straight away its clear that if you want to play safe, Costa is the way to go. He’s also been the most consistent player in the game this season, hence the high ownership. For me, he’s replaced Kun as the auto-captain option, and even if that fifth yellow happens this week he’s still likely to get you points in the game.

Despite the apparently high ownership amongst the community here, Kane is still the biggest differential of the bunch with the lowest ownership, so you might want to look at him if you like a gamble or need to play catch up.

Hazard’s general lack of form and particularly away form rules him out, and I would have liked Ibra to carry on his scoring streak against Spurs before I handed him the armband.

Finally Sanchez, with the best form of the five. I captained him last week and, yes, it wasn’t a total disaster, but its clear that despite his OOP goodness he is still the same streaky / explosive player we know and love / hate. For that reason I figure you either have to captain him all the time and take your losses or just ignore him, because I don’t think anyone can reliably predict when his hauls will arrive.

For what it’s worth I’m going with Kane (c) and Costa (vc) this week, because I like a gamble and, lucky me, if it doesn’t pay off I think the other four will cover the risk…

    Best of luck!

I think Kane is the obvious captain choice this GW. I brought him in specifically to captain him vs. SWA HUL BUR & he's delivered in the first of those.

    Spurs defenders re-visited:

Toby 6.3 - does he worth the extra funds? Said to have higher goal threat but so far this season on par with Walker/Rose re attacking returns. Less rotation risk, but Vertongen as well at a cheaper price.

Walker 6.1 - similar attacking return as Rose, more a passer than a finisher.

Rose 5.9 - attachtive price, goal threat and likely to win penalties therefore assists. Save for games he was injured and suspended, he actually didn't get rested much in EPL games?

Vertongen 5.7 - cheapest and less rotation risk, but almost zero attacking return.

    Who do you prefer?

West Ham have been hopeless and he's not been much better. Doesn't look like he wants to be at West Ham, probably hoping for a move in January.

He only scored vs Liverpool because Karius is a plonker. Think there are much better options than him

Most of what you say is pretty true. For his price bracket his returns are not good enough. West Ham have been hit by injuries and they don't have a proper striker. Eriksen was similar when Kane was out. Payet's stats is actually better than Eriksen. Give him a couple of matches.
