Dugout Discussion – Liverpool vs Spurs

Saturday’s action concludes at Anfield with Liverpool attempting to halt a wretched run in 2017 with victory over fellow title hopefuls Spurs.

From a Fantasy perspective, our focus will mainly be with the visitors, with Dele Alli and Kyle Walker boasting 27.2% and 36.2% ownership respectively. Harry Kane (19%) and Christian Eriksen (15.9%) also go into the tea-time kick-off heavily backed, despite suffering significant sales: Kane was shown the exit by more than 127,000, second only to Liverpool’s Adam Lallana ahead of Gameweek 25.

Jurgen Klopp’s assets have slumped, both in terms of output and popularity with Philippe Coutinho (17.4%) and Lallana (16%) still the top owned on show. The latter is without a goal or an assist in his last five Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hope loads sell him, I am keeping. 2 home games next Stoke and Everton, with Rose likely back for the latter and a shift back to 3-4-1-2. Still will be a big threat at home and free kicks/corners.

Very similar to when many sold Firmino after 3-4 blanks and he scored in double figures or when many sold Hazard before Arsenal and he scored the goal of the season...

      Class player Eriksen.

He is but look at his goal scoring, one little spurt of three or four games and ZERO for the entire season.

        SELL HIM.

        Eriksen last 3 home scores, 11-10-3. 24 points / 8 ppg.

Has two home fixtures against mid table sides next. Not sure why anyone would drop him now. Surely the time would have been prior to this match (at Liverpool) where he hasnt been as productive (on the road).

          • 14 Years
          7 years, 3 months ago

But they've changed tactics which seems to be killing his returns? The two home games you mention that he got returns in were a month ago at this point.

Tactics change was forced due to injuries (Vermaelen / Rose). Both are back at end of month. They will go back to 3-4-1-2 in March and anyway even in this formation Eriksen is dangerous from free kicks and corners, he has proven it for ~4 years in FPL that he is EXACTLY the type of player who can explode after three or four 2's because he has the underlying class. Not a great sell in my opinion or a buy (due to gw28) but a definite hold with two home fixtures to come.

Yes forced by injury, Rose expected back sooner than Vert who will miss the Stoke fixture at the very least. I did watch the Boro game, and he was decent, probably could have gotten something, but still didn't. He'll now price drop, very possibly by 0.3 over the upcoming two weeks, which would be problematic for me to hang onto him. I'm very unsure about him at the moment tbh, as I am about Spurs attack in general, until I see them revert back to their old formation. Whenever that happens he's an awesome choice again imo.

Fair enough - each team has their own issues.

For me, I would never consider selling him with 2 home games to come, but it's a moot point as I have 4 players out next week and 2 free transfers:

                Ibra, Sanchez, Yoshida, Amat.

I will of course move out 2/4 of those aforementioned players and field a full side next week so Eriksen will be staying in my team, price drops or not.

Not too concerned with price drops for him anyway as he is a player I don't mind holding for a long time even if his price drops, he will provide value in that mid priced range and have a game with multiple goals or assists before the season is over.

Did you also watch the game he got 3pts (last week against Boro?). Was tremendous in that game with four at the back and unlucky not to score/assist multiple times in the 1-0 win.

Same. Don't really want to do a -4, although dare I say if I do it with one eye on a GW28er it could pay off.
