Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Bournemouth

Just a few weeks ago, today’s opening fixture at Old Trafford would have been the main attraction, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the sole focus of our attention.

But rivals City and Sergio Aguero now dominate Gameweek 27 – our thoughts already running ahead to Sunday’s encounter with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

For now, we need to concentrate on Saturday’s events with Ibrahimovic still capable of making a major impact on our weekend.

Again the most popular captain pick and surely skippered by the majority of those who have ignored Aguero, his owners will be willing the Swede to translate recent cup form – six goals in four outings – back to the league.

A goal and an assist in his last four Gameweeks is a modest return by Ibrahimovic’s standards but, in Bournemouth, he now faces an ideal opponent.

The Cherries arrive at without their captain Simon Francis, having failed to stem a relentless tide of goals. Without a clean sheet since Gameweek 19, Eddie Howe’s side have conceded 20 in the seven matches since.

The scene is set for Ibrahimovic to deliver a big return to kick-start Gameweek 27, as Fantasy Premier League managers begin the chase for a three-digit tally.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Good thing this is a DGW, otherwise Ibra would have been the obvious captain choice.

I started following that rule when Benteke went off injured against Norwich a few seasons ago.

But Bou(Home) is a very good fixture.

Penalty should not be taken low imo. Smash the net at mid air.

The middle height is where the keeper has most chance of saving it

Yup. Prefer high rather than low on the ground. Not middle height. Similar to King's earlier.

Let's be honest (particularly my fellow non Ibra owners)

If city didn't have a DGW this week, we'd almost certainly have entrusted the armband to Ibra

He'll blame the ref about them not being down to 9. The irony being he needs Bournemouth to be down to 9 men at home to win. Then he'll absolutely massacre Mings.

Benching Herrera was always a bad sign going into this.
Rooney has no business being in a Prem starting 11 right now.

On the brightside though Pogba > King which seemed crazy at first paid off nicely

Agreed. Mings has been hung out to dry on here by some. He could have meant it but equally it could have been accidental. People too quick to judge. Brexit, Trump, Ranieri! The knee jerk masses shall have their way, logic and reason are mere memories and the world is a lesser place for it.
