Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Gameweek 36 – Friday

Double Gameweek 36 gets up and running at the London Stadium this evening as West Ham United entertain title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

The visitors roll up knowing that a win would take them to just one point behind Chelsea at the summit, with attacking trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen playing a prominent role in many Wildcards selctions over the last few days.

All three have merited our attention.

Kane – who has already picked up 13 points against the Hammers in Gameweek 12 – has seven goals and three assists in his last five starts and is second only to Alexis Sanchez in our Gameweek 36 Captain Poll, with 11% backing.

Eriksen has delivered double-figures in each of his previous two road trips, while Alli’s run of eight returns in the last nine Gameweeks has taken him to nine points off the top of the FPL player standings.

Devoid of a Double Gameweek, Fantasy interest in West Ham’s assets is minimal at best – the main impact will be their ability to breach a defence that’s conceded just once in their previous six.

Slaven Bilic’s side will take some solace in their 3-2 loss at White Lane back in November, though – that was one of only five times that Spurs have conceded more than a single goal in the league this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not having Kane was considered heretic on here and the Scoutcast, but it has been possible to exceed his points with Alli and Eriksen while saving 2 to 3 million.

We can get a bit rigid at times with who is essential and who is not. Safety in numbers maybe.

I ditched Kane for Costa and hoping it pays off, Kane will want to put on a show for last match at the Lane though and his home form is a lot better as we know. I think I'm still comfortable with Alli & Eriksen....I think !

I've played Alli and Eriksen over King here, so it's going to be squeaky bum time for me tomorrow.

We have a bit of a decision to make now, as do we continue to double up on Spurs attacking players when Chelsea and Man City have very favourable DGW's? I can see me dropping one next GW.

I dropped him in my wc this week. I don't usually listen to the scoutcast until after the gw is over as it can influence your decisions.

Strong move that, Dino. Many on here have said Spurs are much stronger at home; I saw Jonty posting something just today.

It's Baja to the wall time in fpl now with just three gws to go so why not gamble. I reckon Costa will easily outscore him over those gws.

was the reason i went costa jesus gabby. spurs grind out results away in the main. they are a different beast at WHL and the Wembley business will really mess them up in the same way West Ham have struggled

Couldn't agree more. Did Kane to Costa given fixtures and with Chelsea having the bit between their teeth to get the league wrapped up.

Also gone with Ozil another sworn off move here and hoping it pays off.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 36

    *** APOLOGIES - I DIDN'T REALISE THERE WAS A GAME ON TONIGHT ***
Please do not pick any Spurs and West Ham players - they'll score zero.

    GW33 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/15588693

    GW35 results tomorrow guaranteed.

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Saturday 6th May 11.30am.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

Costa instead of Kane was so obvious

Not obvious, Andy, that's a bit harsh. But having Alli and Eriksen means you can have at least Costa and Jesus up top.

I went Kane and my above post was tongue in cheek.

I did consider Costa instead but ultimately didnt want to wildcard and give my rival a free Kane differential #NegativeTactics

To be honest, I didn't even consider it, and I still won't do it. Costa's recent form is a worry besides that game against Southampton, and he is flirting with a red card lately. I don't even think he will play all remaining games tbf

How do you know that when Costa hadn't even played yet though ?

Could easily get a yellow card and blank.

Looks like there are a lot of players that are set to rise tonight according to FPL Statistics website. Is this likely to be true or will all the wildcards have skewed their figures?

I want to bring Jesus in for Gabbiadini but only have the exact money now and a price rise will put me out of the transfer. Really don't want to do the transfer without seeing all the games for both Gab and Jesus however.

I get the impression fpl stats knows it's not accurate tonight, however if I was intent on that transfer I would do it. Still massively risky obviously.

Some food for thought. Managers tend to win their first Premier League within their first two full seasons in charge of a club. If they don't win it in the first two seasons, forget it!

There should be more voices of reason here in times like this. Adrian doesn't make that triple save to deny Kane twice & once Alli and we've got a totally different outcome on our hands. I don't think this should change the results drastically in the future, Eriksen always looks very lively, Kane can score any time and Alli might just lose it soon, but still looks dangerous.

The players aren't robots. Before West Ham, the Spurs side thought they had a good chance of applying pressure on Chelsea and maybe winning the league. Now that is out of the window, it would be normal for their performance to dip by 5%. That's all it takes for Spurs to take a downturn in form.

If they stay at it with the same intensity, then fair play to them.

      1. Pariße
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 12 months ago

Surely, their performance dipped by 90% this time last year, however I think it's reasonable to expect them not to do that in an identical situation just a year later, they look a much better side this season.

Who wins on the double with these.

    Jesus ,gabbiadini ,Kane

    Jesus , Vardy ,Costa.

I have bench boost and TC-ing this wk on Sanchez.

He has no bench boost and has saved his TC for one of those guys I'd say.

Sanchez blank this gw and I won't be winning my ML I fear.

Might have to trade Kane to Costa to cover ...

    Scout Pick Scores.

For those that track Scout Picks here are some stats...

I have been tracking Scout Picks each GW and tracking its scores - no captain points and using subs when needed.

As of the completion of GW35 Scout Picks total score is 1936 with no additional captain points. In comparison my score is 1639 (no additional Capt points) (currently ranked at 86,732 OR). I think Scout Picks is doing exceptionally well.

To compare your season total deduct 1/2 of you capt scores from your total. Your Capt scores can be found at: http://fpl.guru/#/

all the best for the rest of the season...

    Pete.
