Fantasy Eliteserien – Gameweek 20 Preview

This Gameweek will be the last ahead of another three week break, which involves Cup quarter finals and international matches.

The Norwegian transfer window closed this week(August 16th), although players can still be sold abroad so we’ll have to wait another two weeks before we know who stays for sure.

STOCK CHECK

Rising

Samuel Adegbenro (7.9, Rosenborg, midfielder)

One of the best Fantasy picks this season just got even better. A big move from Viking to Rosenborg could see his returns get even bigger and more consistent.

He faces more competition for a starting spot, but he do have an x-factor that other Rosenborg wingers doesn’t have (at least based on this year’s form). He’s been included in Rosenborg’s squad against Ajax in the Europa League tonight. If he starts  it could have an impact on his minutes on Sunday.

Krepin Diatta (5.6, Sarpsborg, midfielder)

Probably the hottest player in Eliteserien right now. He was a popular pick in pre-season, but hasn’t settled in until now mainly because of international duty – he’s  been away for U20 African Cup of Nations, as well as the U20 World Cup.

The last three games he’s been tearing opposition defences apart. A goal and an assist last time out, as well as a goal against Odd in the cup and an assist against Haugesund have made him a popular pick recently. In addition, the experts have awarded him five bonus points in the last two.

He’s been close to a move to bigger clubs twice this summer, but currently it looks like he stays for the season at least.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.2, Rosenborg, forward)

The lord Bendtner has finally started doing what we expected him to do at the start of the season.

Five goals in the last five, as well as maximum bonus points in the last two, brings him back into our thinking. As most other Rosenborg players, he could be a risk this week as they face Ajax tonight in the Europa League.

Joachim Olsen Solberg (4.7, Sandefjord, defender)

Seck who? The Seck bandwagon early on has probably not done Olsen Solberg any favours. As a lot of us already own Seck and have been reluctant to sign up for a  Sandefjord double up. But lately Holberg has shown himself as a better option than Seck, delivering attacking returns in each of the last four games, including two goals and two assist – mostly due to his deadly set-pieces.

Patrick Mortensen (7.5, Sarpsborg, forward)

Mortensen has slowly been coming back into our thoughts. Three goals in the last four means he’s now scored as many as Bendtner this season, a total of nine goals.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.8, Stabæk, forward)

He continues to score regulary and is Eliteserien’s topscorer with 13 goals in 19. He missed a penalty recently in his only blank in the last four.

Espen Bugge Pettersen (4.8, Strømsgodset, goalkeeper)

Two clean sheets, one assist and four bonus points in the last three means Bugge Pettersen is the last one on the rising list. A tally of 23 points in the last three has surely made his 1.3% ownership happy.

Falling

Tore Reginiussen (6.2, Rosenborg, defender)

What looked like a minor injury has kept him out of the last two games. Put in Rosenborg’s poor defensive form and you’ve got the most transfered out player this week.

Daniel Braaten (6.9, Brann, midfielder)

Much like Reginiussen, what looked like a minor injury has now kept him out of four games in a row. Brann have been looking really dire without him.

Piotr Liecjewski (5.3, Brann, goalkeeper)

Another pick who’s been out with a small injury for three games in a row. There’s been a lot of transfer speculation around him as well, but it looks like he’s staying now at least.

Amin Nouri (5.9, Brann, defender)

One of the hottest defenders in the game a few weeks back is now out of favour. He’s rejected a new contract and is leaving Brann at the end of the season. Brann has decided to give Jonsson the nod instead, as well as signing Teniste from Sogndal on a pre-contract for next season.

Milan Jevtovic (8.6, Rosenborg, midfielder)

Jevtovic has been up and down all season, but the arrival of Adegbenro probably means he won’t start every match from now (as long as everyones fit). He’ll surely get a lot of game time, but definitely not a sure starter anymore.

Fredrik Haugen (10.1, Brann, midfielder)

Just a single assist in the last five is way less than you expect from one of the most expensive players in the game. Definitely not in the same form as he was at the start of the season.

Tonny Brochmann (7.1, Stabæk, midfielder)

Six blanks in the last seven have seen his ownership drop a lot. Another one who’s not as red hot as he was a few weeks ago.

Mos (8.8, Aalesund, forward)

Mos is a hard one. He has blanked in his last four starts, but scored two goals in a 21 minute cameo against Brann. At that price you’d expect more, but he’s still one of the top scorers in the league.

Bjørn Bergmann Sigurdarson (10.2, Molde, forward)

After a great run of games with very few blanks, he’s now blanked three games in a row. Just when we though we had a reliable captaincy pick, he proved us wrong. With decent fixtures coming up hopefully he’ll return to form.

DIFFERENTIALS FOR GAMEWEEK 20

Krepin Diatta (5.6, Sarpsborg, midfielder)

Not much more to be said. He’s a level above most players in Eliteserien, low priced and low ownership (4.4%). He’s the ultimate differential this week.

Julian Ryerson (4.3, Viking, defender)

Viking had to fit in some new arrivals, which ment Ryerson was pushed forward to an attacking role last week. With the departure of Samuel Adegbenro I expect him to stay in an attacking role and give us a great, cheap out of position option. Viking have signed three new defenders (and eight players in total) this window, so it remains to see how much of impact the new signings will have. 8.4% ownership, but I’m pretty sure a lot of his ownership come from dead teams as he was a popular pick in pre season and the first few gameweeks.

Mushaga Bakenga (9.9, Tromsø, forward)

A deadline day move should mean regular minutes for Mushaga Bakenga. His price is too high for his potential in my opinion, but I fancy a debut goal against Aalesund.

NEW SIGNINGS

As mentioned the transfer window closed last night and I’ll do a short round-up of the transfers that has happened since the last article.

Rosenborg have made the most high profile transfers, as they’ve added both Anders Trondsen and Samuel Adegbenro to their squad. A lot of managers now are probably sitting with four or maybe five Rosenborg players in their squad, which means they have to sell one or two of them before doing any other moves. Mushaga Bakenga has left for Tromsø and Elba Rashanifor Odd. Fredrik Midtsjø remains a Rosenborg player, but a move to AZ Alkmaar still looks likely.

Sarpsborg have signed Danish player Nikolai Paulsen from Randers as a replacement for Trondsen. They have also signed winger Rashad Muhammed from Florø.

Brann made a deadline day move for Dutch winger Ludcinio Marengo, while Steffen Lie Skålevik went out on loan to second tier club Start.

Molde have also strengthened their squads, signing Mathias Normann on loan from Brighton, Martin Ellingsen from Kongsvinger and winger Ibrahima Wadji. Sander Svendsen have left for Swedish club Hammarsby and Etzaz Hussain went on loan to Odd.

Haugesund signed centre back Marko Cosic and defensive midfielder Aleksandar Kovacevic.

Stabæk signed Chinese midfielder Hongliang Too, striker Rubio Rubin and experienced keeper John Alvbage, while Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was released.

Strømsgodset replaced backup keeper Sosha Makani with Pål-Vestly Heigre from Aalesund. Aalesund replaced Heigre with Jan Urke. They also signed centre back Tero Mäntylä.

Odd have signed Etzaz Hussain on loan as mentioned, as well as Elba Rashani from Rosenborg. Vålerenga sold their backup keeper Aslak Falch.

Lillestrøm have added another young Nigerian in Moses Ebiye, while Bajram Ajeti has left the club.

Sogndal added winger Stanisa Mandic and centre back Mohamed Didé Fofana to their squad, while Kristiansund have added experienced midfielder Magne Hoseth.

Viking have added experienced centre back Andreas Nordvik to their squad, as well as the lost talent George Green. As mentioned a couple of time Samuel Adegbenro has left the club.

Tromsø added striker Mushaga Bakenga and Anzhi midfielder Shamil Gasanov in the final days of the window.

I'll probably activate my WC soon. I have not looked up to fixtures at all, but here is what I am considering:

    Bratveit - McDermott
    Ruud - Rosted - Lundström - Skjerve - Odegaard
    Haugen - Knudtzon - Adegbenro - Diatta - Tronstad
    Bendtner - Sigurdarson - Mortensen

Too much Haugesund coverage? Too little Rosenborg? Happy to hear suggestions.

What I currently have pencilled in:

        Rossbach, Kwarasey/Bratveit
        ODD, Rolantsson/FKH, Tollas, Solberg, Norbye
        Diatta, Adegbenro, Zahid, Jradi/TIL, Hussain/TIL
        BBS, Bendtner, Mortensen

Just a little heads up on Skjerve: Haugesund signed Croatian CB Cosic this summer. He got his debut straight away when Skjerve was suspended (and scored an own goal), but was benched for Skjerve when he returned. Next week Knudsen is suspended, so I guess Cosic will get another start. I don't know how good he is, but I guess he could be a threat to Skjerve going forward.

I'm going with Bendtner + Adegbenro myself I think, currently don't want anyone from the defence. You could also get Norbye (wingback at Tromsø) at 4.0 instead of Ødegaard 😉

Knudtzon started as a wide midfielder last time out though (but moved back to striker for second half). Tagbajumi is suspended for the next match, but I guess Knudtzon might not start every game as a striker now. He's not a good pick at that price as a wide midfielder. Worth a thought at least.

Tronstad is an interesting pick. Could be decent for the DGW at 4.7..

According to VG today there's a bidding war for B. B. Sigurdarson. Russian club Rostov is one of them, as well as two unnamed clubs.

Was planning to bring in Adegbenro for Jevtovic but now with Rosenborg qualifying for EL, shall i still do it, or keep Jevtovic or avoid any Rosenborg players because of rotation?

Was great to see Rosenborg qualify for the EL. They remind me of Bayern; I always want them to lose in the league but you can't deny their quality (even if they buy up all the rest of the talent in their league) and it's good to see them representing a cool league.

Adegbenro is great. I may wildcard depending on transfer moves, shouldn't have any problem fitting him in as I'll at least double up on cheap Tromsø players.

Another curveball. Rosenborg had some games moved (all of them stays within the same GW) due to Europe. One of their games was moved from Monday to Sunday, with Sarpsborg - Odd being moved the other way. This suddenly meant Odd had two games within three days, as they had their DGW fixture against Tromsø on Wednesday. That fixture has now been moved.

So DGW23 for Odd and Tromsø is now off. A new date has not been set yet.

How are the Vålerenga starting XI looking now? One of the reasons I wildcarded was to get Zahid and Bendtner in. No all of a sudden Zahid is gone. Anyone worth getting in attack?

Hard to guess the starting XI. Stengel should be starting every game but isn't getting a start because he hasn't signed a new contract. Guys like Kjelsrud Johansen, Holm and Moa are crooks that can't stay fit more than a few weeks. The only one I'd consider from the attack is Finne.

Thanks. Vålerenga are one of the teams I have least knowledge about. None of the cheap midfielders worth a punt for the DGW then? Can't find room for Finne unless Ohi leaves today.

I kind of regret wildcarding early now. Suddenly I have an open spot and loads of cash, but no clue how to spend it. Hajradinovic and Zahid sold, that's two great DGW options gone.

Grindheim if you want nailedness. Might be given a bit more freedom with Zahid gone. Seems like Juklerød is nailed after Lindkvist left but the problem is he's playing reverse OOP on the full back.

You could possibly punt on Ejuke but chances are he ends up as a SGW player in a DGW.

I'd stay clear for now and revisit before the DGWs. Which GW is VIF's DGW?

                              Fair enough. GW25.

In hindsight I probably should have kept the WC. Could bring in an Odd or Tromsø midfielder for DGW23 and replace before DGW25 with a Vålerenga midfielder.

Tromsø - Odd is moved to 21st of September, so either a DGW in GW23 or 22.

Vålerenga - Haugesund is being played on a Thursday and is included in the gameweek after the game. I assume it will be the same for Tromsø - Odd, it's still GW23 I think.

It's a bit different since that game is after an international break.

A DGW in GW22 would be better from a Fantasy perspective. Much better fixtures for both teams.

They said on twitter that they will move the match. Whether that mean just moving the date or the GW is unclear.

Tempted to take a punt on Rashani over Hussain for the DGW. I'm not sure if he's worth the price, but I've got so much cash floating around after Zahid was sold..

I don't expect any moves for Eliteserien players now, but it's still possible as some transfer windows are open a few more days. The Turkish transfer window is open a couple of more days.

Looks like I can save the WC. I am looking at using FT's up to DGW 23 and then in or out of GW 25.
So far I have only taken one hit in GW14 so I am tempted to do a -4 in GW21 -22.

                        Currently on

                        Bratveit ( Hansen )

Rolantsson Hedensted Seck ( Wormgor Rosted)

Helland Diatta Andersen Holm (Brochmann )

                        Ohi BBS Mortensen

                        1 free transfer 0.3 ITB

I am looking at using FT,s to get to DGW 23 and then WC for DW25
I have spent too much time on my FPL squad so now time to think about this weeks Eliteserien. Hedensted was a waste of my transfer to replace a now fit Melgalvis so him or Helland will go this week.
Getting Melgalvis back can wait for now so Helland to Adegbenro or Hedensted to Odd?
If I go the Hedensted option I can play Wormgoor and leave the Odd defender on the bench. I know nothing about Odd so Grogaard or Ruud are my thoughts at the moment..
K choice will be BBS at home to Odd, if I do not get Adegbenro who is away at Stromsgodset.
Ah well a week to mull things over will fly by.

Why get rid of Hedenstad? Haven't heard much about him, but wouldn't be surprised if he was back this GW.

Wormgoor have to play with such a good fixture IMO. Wouldn't be surprised to see Rolantsson benched, although I'm not certain he will. Hopefully we'll have more info before deadline.

Hedenstad is too much of a rotation risk ATM I think. I got him in as I thought he would be more nailed on, but he then blanked and was not injured. I have 3 RBK and need to part with one for Adegbenro. I guess Hedenstad and RBK do not get clean sheets so it is looking like him for now. I want an RBK attacking mid and Hansen at the least. Adegbenro looks awesome for the money, Helland is one to watch, I have lots of points in the bank from him and he will score big again. It is just the RBK rotation thing again.
Wormgoor or Rolantsson is one I need to work out. I will lose one or both of them for the double game weeks and look at bring one back after.
We do not see much football in New Zealand so you tube and streaming sites that do not block non European access are all I can watch. The highlights on the Eliteserien site are not bad but it does not give you a real feel for who is on form. I am in England at the moment but on holiday so not regular access to the internet.
Hope to get to Norway this trip to see a live game.
Sorry for rambling on it is the jet lag.

He's not a rotation risk. He got injured against Ajax, that's why he didn't play last GW. They haven't been getting many clean sheets though.

Helland is still injured I think.

Knudtzon though is not guaranteed an attacking position as he has been moved out wide a few times. DGW coming up for Odd and Tromso, followed by Valerenga and Haugesund so worth loading up on a couple of players from them. Janukieqicz to Bratveit maybe and Knudtzon to Odd

Been poor lately, except for one game where he scored against Odd. Also signed a new winger, Vega finding form and Braaten coming back from injury. He's an average player. Great form at the start of the season, but have faded over the season.

Cheers! Have 3 Rosenborg and considering Bendtner. Think both Adegbenro and Jevtovic are likely starters, or do Jevtovic to Diatta to make way for Mos to Bendtner next week?

                              Jevtovic to Diatta is good.
Jevtovic will be rotated IMO and takes up an RBK place for little return for his money now.
Bendtner is also a popular pick and not having him in my team will hurt but I am not convinced yet. He does take penalties though.
