Dugout Discussion – Everton vs Burnley

After Arsenal eased past Brighton at the Emirates, we now make our way to Merseyside as Everton welcome Burnley to Goodison Park.

The Toffees’ start to the season has been far from convincing yet they have scored seven goals in their last three home matches across all competitions.

Budget frontmen Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin – at 5.0 apiece in FPL – are both handed starts but Wayne Rooney’s 11% FPL owners are left disappointed as Ronald Koeman drops him to the bench for the first time this season.

Elsewhere for the hosts, Gylfi Sigurdsson looks to stake a claim for our five-man midfields ahead of clashes with Brighton, Leicester, Watford and Palace in the next five.

But Burnley’s away form will worry the home side.

Sean Dyche’s men have claimed points on the road at Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool, with Robbie Brady and Chris Wood looking their likeliest source of attacking points.

Like their hosts, the Clarets also have fine upcoming fixtures – they entertain West Ham, Newcastle and Swansea and travel to Southampton in the subsequent five.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Was anticipating a Firmino benching. Took a rash hit to bring in Niasse and Ramsey. Still hasn't worked out. Atleast the WC is active.

This is the problem. Who would you bring in this week for him? Vardy - flopped. Chicarito - flopped. Rooney - benched. Giroud - flopped.

Vardy is a decent choice if mahrez played maybe would of been goals in that game and when Leicester score you know who is involved

Kane, Morata, Jesus for me. If Morata is not fit, then Vardy. Don't see any other way around this.

On 70 points with Salah to come, smashing my weekly ML - AND YET I'm going to WC.
Keeping faith my in trusty 5-2-3, how does this look:

    Ederson, Elliot
    Azpi, Monreal, Trippier, Jones, Ward
    Salah, Sterling (Fellaini, RLC, Carroll)
    Kane (perm-cap), Jesus, Morata

Yes, that no Kaku and Fellaini to come off the bench when Ward has a tough fixture. That would make my entire starting XI from the Top 6. RLC's fixtures turn soon in time for Zaha's return, so I'll be happy for him to cover rested players.

You don't want Trippier with Aurier around...go Bavies.

Get some Maguire in there too.

Other than that, I like it

      1. Andy_Social
        • 11 Years
        6 years, 7 months ago

After Aurier's last game I think Trippier is fine. Have Bavies and Kolasinac at the mo but can't afford them in the WC squad (due to going from 2 to 3 strikers).

I can do Pope/Stones rather than Ederson/Ward; however the reason for my original decision was Pep's rotation - Kompany and even Danilo could lead to Stones or Otamendi being rested, whereas Ederson and Ward will play every game.

Let me see re. Schmeichel or Maguire ...

        1. Andy_Social
          • 11 Years

Schmeichel would allow me to restore Bavies.

Loathed to drop Jones when he's earned cleanies in every match bar one.

Question is, will Leicester keep as many cleanies as City? Possibly.
