The ScoutCast – Episode 237 – Catnap

Pep sunk his teeth into our Gameweeks, while an old moggy took a chunk out of my partner’s arm, depriving me of my appearance on this week’s ScoutCast. I’m not sure which was more painful.

At the mercy of the local A&E, Jonty, Andy and Az became my other emergency service as they stepped up on this latest episode.

Inevitably, Guardiola’s Man City teamsheet dominates your questions and the ensuing chatter. Elsewhere the boys re-appraise Kane after his Wembley haul, revisit Liverpool with their fixtures about to swing and consider whether the heavy-hitting midfielders are poised for a renaissance ahead of Gameweek 10.

As far as I know, I’ve edited out all the “pussy” jokes.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

    Quick poll.

If you didn't own Salah / Coutinho, would you buy either for -4?

      Good question

I’m sleeping on whether to do Eriksen to Salah for a hit.

Gives me the flexibility for jesus to Aguero as well next week

I like transfers that enable further upgrades in your squad next week. It feels like you're working towards something lol.

Eriksen is a tough one to sell but could be a good move over the short term, and maybe get him back later.

-- A) Duffy vs. Kiko Femenia
I see most people going for Duffy. Why? Fixtures/Watford injury? Kiko's stats are better.

    -- B) Hunemeier vs. Rangel
Rangel might get a couple of games, but once he stops, will his price plummet further?

    How to get Daniels in?

    -- 1) Ward > Mee
Mee will score eventually. Prefer Ward on the BAPS, though.

    -- 2) Sterling > Pedro
Sterling is better, but I have both him & Kun on a WC. 120 mins from both at midweek are scary. Probably a temporary move.

    -- 3) Duffy/K Femenia > Dunk
This would make me sad as the former register better for BAPS

Thanks all. I'll be gutted if Watford grab some cleanies, but I suppose it is a similar issue to Chelsea, where injuries are affecting the defense.

Would love to get Duffy, but worried about dropping Sterling. (Pedro's minutes aren't great, although I believe he's the preferred starter). Might be easier to just get Dunk.

Either way, I'm worried by a Sterling rise.

      Daniels, just fall already!!

Ok so aguero may be rested , Kane may not play . Have 0 arsenal cover for this week but don't want them after this week . Also 0 Liverpool cover but canndonstering to salah for free is it crazy to go for the free hit and get a team of

    Pope
    Vvd bellerin Monreal
    Hazard rich sanchez(c) salah coutinho
    Vardy firmino

    And 4 useless players .
To me seems logical feel Liverpool may crush huddersfield and arsenal may crush Swansea who have no left back and might have to play naughton on the left and Rangel on the right on Sanchez.
Is this logical or stupid , opinions would be much appreciated

      Keep that chip for blanks.

    2. Virgil Hilts

      It's football, anything can happen.

Odds are better (imo) when there are blank and double GWs

On a SGW you are gambling on one off results, whereas blanks and doubles you have players either not playing, or probably playing twice.

This may not make any stistical sense by the way, it's just how I feel the free hit chip can be better utilised later in the season.

GL if you play it, hope it goes well.

My only issue with that is I'd rather play the bench boost and triple captain on double gws and can't use more than one chip also don't think the crazy double gws will happen like last year . The only reason to keep it would be December rotations and honestly sometimes you can't even predict the squads an hour before in December

Just think of it as the blank gameweek chip to avoid any temptation, think back to all that bother to prepare for it... We'll with a single chip all your problems are gone, no 7 men, no funnelling transfers through the lens of that gameweek, all gone. My advice is to save the free hit chip for the blank gameweek

Davies + Atsu out for me. Ward + Richarlison in.

Wasn't 100% on Ward but I've talked about him before so had to get him. Kiko and Mee very much in consideration. Defence is cheap now.

    Elliot
    Jones - Ward - Suttner
    Sterling - Eriksen - Salah - Richarlison

They all are. It's based on Pochettino saying "we'll see" when asked if Kane is fine for Man Utd.

He came off a few minutes early against Liverpool massaging is hamstring. That's all we know.

Ok, I've just read the link, and the link to the Mirror article. If anything football-talk.co.uk is hyping up the Mirror article, but the Mirror article is only quoting the original "we'll see" comment.

The only other information is "intensive treatment" and the rest is speculation.

I don't even own Kane. Maybe he has damaged his hamstring, I don't know, but we'll hear more tomorrow.

City is the only team threatened with rotation . If anything I believe salah will be rested vs Maribor at home after winning 7-0 away they'll probably play solanke and Sturridge and stuff. Chelsea and city have tough away fixtures in Italy but sit pretty comfortably in their groups don't think they'll worry too much

Choose the best for next week (I'm on my Free Hit):

    a.) Kiko Femenia (STK)

    b.) Fonte (cry)

    Price is not an issue.

Is Jesus a poor (c) choice? My other big hitters are Sterling, Kane, Lukaku, Eriksen...

    I'm even considering Yoshida.

lol Yoshida. If I had to choose out of those 5 then I would go with Eriksen. I have a feeling he'll do well next week.

Yoshida is playing Brighton, great chance of a CS and he gets BPS easily too. Be a last hurrah before I sell him by GW12. If he brought in good returns as captain, he would join other heroes such as Morten Gamst Pederson and Amr Zaki in my ATG FF team.

Somebody talk me out of this because I'm seriously considering it..

Already on -4 so won't be making any other transfers. Might have to brace myself for one of those low scoring weeks

Is anyone captaining jesus? Think I am.

What are Eriksen owners doing? His stats have regressed since GW 1-4 when he looked a must own. Fewer shots in the box than the likes of Salah and no assists since GW2........ but the 2nd highest midfielder in terms of points.

From the eye-test, he has looked a little more tired lately, imo. Has a busy schedule with Denmark and CL also. I'm still likely to keep him as he's bringing in consistent points still.

Beat the KneeJerkers XI, results for GW9 and squad for GW10

GW9 was brutal, maybe the worst yet for popular transfer targets. Sterling (c) and Jesus (vc) burnt many, and the rest of the Kneejerkers XI team did not fare much better, with only Trippier (6), Richarlison (5) and Babayoko!!! (5) emerging with any sort of credit. Altogether, the eleven most-transferred-in players of the gameweek managed a measly 28 points (GW rank 5m+) and so finished dead last behind all remaining 31 competition entries.

    https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/team/4112369/event/9
    https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/leagues/standings/907919/classic

For GW 10, transfer activity focused on three big strikers, a couple of Watford mids and, again, a full set of Man City musical chairs. Greed is still more powerful than fear, it seems. To fund such a heavy-hitting lineup, the Kneejerkers’ bench also features a bunch of dubious cheapos who will hopefully never be called upon. May the Pep be with you.

    Elliot (28)
    Otamendi (161), Ward (91), Monreal (88)
    Sané (VC, 209), Richarlison (185), Doucouré (127), Salah (82)
    Aguero (C, 304), Kane (120), Morata (108)
Bench: De Gea (25); Mbemba* (21), Mariappa* (19), Colback* (17)
