The ScoutCast – Episode 250 – Cupset

With our end of season plans now at the mercy of the FA Cup fifth round, we slot in an extra show to absorb all the post Gameweek 27 chatter, in anticipation of another bumper episode to come.

Given Sergio Aguero’s 21-point impact – and the fact that the ScoutCast crew all missed out – we just couldn’t neglect the opportunity to front up and give our verdict on the Kanexit#2.

Jonty, Andy and Az join me in attempting to justify our actions and dismiss our disappointment before we debate whether the Argentinian should be now ruthlessly ejected from squads.

Meanwhile, your questions steer us to assess Mohamed Salah’s relentless consistency and captaincy credentials, while I make excuses for my own armband misdemeanours by blaming my reckless awards on a lack of season heroes.

We dabble in some early Gameweek 31 musings, while Jonty has 31 attempts at pronouncing Luka Milivojevic.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

What Tottenham did to Juventus was mind-blowing. Epl teams arent given credit when its due. We often put great results down to luck or the opposition having an off day. just because english way isnt attractive doesnt mean its ineffective

I was introduced to football by a Chelsea fan who made me watch Chelsea vs Liv. Dint like it. Next on was Manutd vs Arsenal. Manutd came back from behind in that one. That was 14 years ago 🙂

I fully agree with you. Was our best performance of the season. Dembele in the last 4 games has been outstanding the way he controls the midfield he’s class. Hopefully we get the job done back at Wembley and move on to the quarter finals.

What English way? All the clubs in Europe have foreign managers and predominantly foreign players.

They've been given plenty of credit by the British media but maybe wait until the end of the competition to toot your own horn. There is a reason the La Liga is ranked far higher than anyone currently.

        Two reasons, actually:

That’s not what I am saying at all, I’m saying that the clear definitions and stereotypes between countries that were apparent 10-15 years ago are no longer there..I.e only
Spanish clubs attack by keeping possession, only Italian clubs had strong defences and counter attacked and English clubs played route 1 or crossing tactics...
now you cannot really say ‘it’s good to see the English style of football doing well in Europe’ as it doesn’t exist anymore. It was always going to happen with the international exchange of coaches going on all over the world. A good example is China, think of the European coaches over there.

I can see you don’t get the point just for the fact you talk about zidane as ‘french’ style of football when he spent the majority of his career in Italy and Spain.

I have a feeling Huddersfield might actually get a few goals with their run of fixtures, confidence will be high after last league match, even more so 'if' they get a result against UTD in the cup. I'd wait on that decision for now.

Save. Wilson could get a hatty at home to Newcastle. Loves a hatty at home v poor sides.

    Ederson/Elliot
    Bauer/Jones/Chilwell/Bardsley/Dunk
    Sterling/Can/Eriksen/Chopo/Pogba
    Aguero/Kane/Ayew

    2ft 0.0itb
What would you do with this lot?
Was thinking of doing Ederson to Fabianski to free up some funds.
What should i do with aguero stick with him? Or get rid off him with unfavorable matches coming for City?

Hazard worth keeping for united away, city away? He then has palace home but Barca second leg a few days later so will probably be rested/reduced minutes

    Get firminho and VVD

Or load up on triple attack with Firmino and mane?

Get Firm, wait and see how Mane plays before deciding whether to go him or vvd.

It was a crappy hatty, mostly luck. I'd wait and see if he can use this to get some confidence back. He's been absolutely rubbish in PL last matches.

Second goal was an easy one imo. Last one was class. Before that, Mane has had 1 shot on target last 4 gws in PL. I'd still wait and see, but I hope he's confidence is back. Nothing would please me more than a great diff. in gw31.

I expect Agüero to score v Arsenal, I just don’t know how many.

As for Salah. A minimum of a goal and an assist is very likely.

Rish is too high for me not to cap Salah. He will be massively captained, and I'm not planning to fall 100k in OR now just before the blanks and doubles.

If I was chasing on the other hand, I would maybe be willing to take the risk.

Any early ideas on what to do with my team?
I'm thinking of taking a -4, taking out Otamendi Lingard Kun and getting Frimino Walcott and 7.6 for a defender

    DDG Adrian
    Otamendi Jones Bauer Ogbonna Kenny
    Salah Mane Sterling Lingard Ibe
    Kane Kun Ulloa

Never take Agüero out for a hit either. Especially off the back of the seasons biggest haul.

Who represents the best Arsenal investment after this week?

    Monreal, Ramsey, Mkhi, Aubemeyang?

Or will you just leave it?

    1. ☆Khaz

Think Mkhi looks great, but unless you plan for FH31, I wouldn't waste a transfer on bringing in players likely to blank.

Can't really settle on an Alonso replacement. Who are the stand out candidates in your opinion?

    1. Karan14
      • 8 Years

      Van Dijk
      Robertson
      Mee
      Mawson
      Maguire
      Monreal

Depends if you’re looking for a non blanker or not.

Assuming you want to downgrade for cash, I'd say Vertongen, Monreal, VVD, or even Dawson/Hegazi for max cash 🙂
