New Polls Arrive
Tuesday is poll update day - well at least it is this week. The usual FPL captains poll has arrived to stroke Ronaldo’s ego that little bit more ( I know he is a keen visitor to the site ). Will anyone get close considering that United take on the Gunners? Maybe.
As for the second poll - with Defoe and Torres topping the “strikers most likely to do the damage over the remaining five games”, it’s time to test out your views on defences. So who has the best chances of reaping those clean sheets over the final five? Not so easy given the injuries to Vidic, Ferdinand and Cech. There are some dark horses here, so this one could be pretty pretty close.
ContinuedHost Transfer For The Scout
You may experience some downtime in the next 24-48 hours as I transfer the site to a new server host. I’ve not been happy with my current hosts and today I’ve migrated the site to a new one that should result in some faster speeds and greater reliability.
We may lose some comments in the move as I’ve had to migrate the database earlier today. Apologies for this - I may be able to add lost comments once we’re fully up and running with the new host.
Hopefully they’ll be no problems aside from this and downtime will hopefully be kept to a minimum.
Ta for your patience.
*Update* It looks as though the promised downtime was avoided and that the site is now fully transferred to the new host - complete with much faster page load times. There are a few text bugs to sort out in the Database but nothing major. Fingers crossed for no problems going forward. Again, thanks for your patience.
ContinuedA Couple of Polls
No, not a typo in a news story on some last minute signings by Harry Redknapp, instead two brand new polls for the site over in the left-hand menu.
For starters I’ve added one to canvas opinion on what’s likely to be a deciding factor over the rest of the fantasy season - just which striker will perform best. It’s funny, when you take Ronaldo out of all fantasy football equations, there’s suddenly a far more difficult decision to be made. When it comes to finding that goal machine for the last six games there’s actually more than a few reasonable candidates. It will be interesting to see how this one goes.
The usual FPL captains poll meanwhile includes Ronaldo of course so all bets are off on the winner. Those who get close to him though? That will again be interesting - there’s a couple of tasty looking fixtures about this weekend that could just tip the balance for a few contenders but I’ll shut up now and leave the voting to you.
ContinuedNew FPL Captain Poll
All quiet on the injury front so far today - no confirmed news as yet on Torres, Ronaldo or Cahill - so I’ve updated the FPL captain’s poll (scroll down the left menu) for the current gameweek. Could be interesting again this week, with just the merest threat of rest/rotation hanging over Ronaldo. It will be interesting to see how worried you lot are about that prospect and just who will get close to him.
ContinuedOh Sidebar where art thou?
There’s an issue with the site in Internet Explorer today whereby the right-hand menu has disappeared. In Firefox the site is performing as normal.
I’ll restore the sidebar back to an earlier version later tonight which should hopefully fix this. Right now though, I’m at work without my backups so IE users will have to make do for a few hours. Normal service will hopefully be resumed very soon however.
ContinuedEditing Comments Is Go
I made a few changes to the site on Saturday evening/Sunday morning, the most signficant of which is the edit comments feature. I’ve also made some fancy-dan colour changes and added a nice little ticker at the top of the page listing some useful stats. Read on for a description on how to kill comment spelling errors dead once and for all…
ContinuedNew FPL Captains Poll
The FPL captains poll for gameweek 28 is now active in the left menu. Without prompting your votes, it will be interesting to see how close the Liverpool lot with their double gameweek, can get to Ronaldo this week.
ContinuedPlayer Rankings Changes
From this week on, I’m changing the way in which the player ranking tables in the right-hand menu work. A number of you have requested player recommendations over a longer period of time, rather than weekly scout picks. To cater for this requirement, the player rankings will now be based on the next five matches, the same five that are listed in the forthcoming fixtures table in the same menu.
ContinuedThe FPL Captain Poll
I’ve been meaning to do this for weeks but with the FA Cup break, I’ve finally got it off the ground. I’ve added a new permanent poll to the left panel menu, underneath the existing poll, which can be used to canvas opinion on the Fantasy Premier League captains for the coming gameweek.
This poll will remain and be updated each gameweek so you can see at a glance who visitors think are the best candidates each week. Yes Ronaldo will doubtless top the poll each week but hopefully, it will give some opinion on other choices.
Addtional polls for those not playing the FPL game will appear above this as normal.
Get voting.
ContinuedSome Site Tweaks
Okay, you may have noticed some subtle tweaks to the site. I’ve made a couple of key changes to the front page that will hopefully tidy things up, give visitors a little more control over content and keep you all more up to date with the goings on that concern fantasy managers.
