  1. The final day drama may be restricted to affairs in North London but in our world, every pass, shot and goal that takes place can make an impact. With both the title race and relegation battles settled, Fantasy managers face an uncomfortable scenario, a new brand of uncertainty. There’s little need to stretch every sinew [...]

It’s like we’re being prepared for the inevitable: slowly eased into a life without football and the spills from our Fantasy lineups. Okay, there’s the small matter of an FA Cup final but, without the sight of Norman Whiteside playing poker on the coach, helicopter arrivals and Question of Sport special, that lost it’s magic [...]

When we finally make it over the line in just over a fortnight’s time, it’s likely that many of us will look back on the decisions made this week as the deciding factors in the final outcome. Very rarely are we handed such an opportunity to “make or break” and while, on paper, such an [...]

We really should savour this. While the sun beaming through my window helps to banish the grey, wet and windy, it’s also a reminder that the clock is ticking on another Fantasy season. In just over a month, thumbs will be entering twiddle mode and suddenly our Saturday morning heads won’t be congested with concerns [...]

    The Pre-Match Preamble

Filed under: The Preamble - Posted by: Mark

There’s nothing quite like a double Gameweek. The build-up generates such anticipation, the promise of a points avalanche often drowning out logic and sense to create a tide of optimism. It’s all too easy to start surfing this, particularly when this hope arrives so late, offering up players that, even in a regular Gameweek, are [...]

Once again the duties of real-life have deprived me of the opportunity to spend my Saturday mulling over transfer plans and the morning press, whilst jotting down a stream of consciousness in the “Preamble”. Instead, these words are written on a Friday evening – a dangerous period of the week that can often be spent [...]

  7. March

Fantasy managers were finally roused by the middle of this week, rudely awakened to find ourselves thrust into a Gameweek that once again rests on the whims of the Premier League managers and their teamsheets. Coming off an international break is always dangerous. Deprived of Premier League action to spark our Fantasy football thinking, it’s [...]

“I love to attack and I love to go up front...It is a little more difficult than when you are playing centre-back. If you play the way that I want to play, I think my influence is better as a left-back. For the team, it is best that I play as a centre-back. I like to bring the ball out. You need to move the game quickly, and that is one of my qualities as well.”

Jan Vertonghen outlines what he feels is his best position for Andre Villas-Boas
