Team Analysis – Assessing Ramsey’s QPR

After taking time out to assess Tim Sherwood’s impact at Villa Park, we analyse the performances of QPR under Chris Ramsey as both clubs prepare for a double Gameweek 31. In terms of results, the new man in charge has been unable to arrest his side’s decline – aside from a win at fellow strugglers Sunderland, the R’s have lost six of seven fixtures since the departure of Harry Redknapp.

Although they’ve failed to score in just one of those encounters, the Loftus Road outfit have notched more than a single goal in only one match since Ramsey was installed – that victory over the Black Cats. In terms of defensive prospects, QPR have one clean sheet (yet again courtesy of the Sunderland match) and have conceded at least twice in each of the last five matches of Ramsey’s tenure.

With trips to West Brom and Villa on the horizon, then, we delve into the data to see whether the underlying numbers can afford a little more optimism.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Thats just not true, There have been few games when you have not had 2 of Evans, Jones, Smalling or Rojo available. Remember Blackett played a lot at the start because of the 3 CB formation.

we played Carrick or Blind a handful of times in defense even and blooding Blackett/McNair doesn't really count as having a CB available when this is the Premier League

I thought we'd come second. Still a bit annoyed with all the mad scientist tinkering. As crap as the league has been at the top we really should've put more pressure on the Chavs.

Aye, there should have been more pressure put on. I guess my expectations were somewhat lowered based on how the previous season had gone, there was a need for an overhaul etc. In theory, if they hadn't f**ked around with formations as much it would have worked out much better. As long as they don't cock up and get CL this season, that'll be okay for now.

I think LVG has been somewhat lucky in how he has got there but United look to have the makings of a very good team now he has players in their right positions.

Carrick returning appears to have really helped too.

I suspect Falcao and RVP will go and that United will sign a top young striker (possibly even Kane) and a top defender. They won't be far short if they do that.

Chelsea will also spend in the summer, we have actually made net profits on transfers over the last 2 seasons and £80m or £100m is perfectly feasible under FFP for next season if Mourinho wants to spend it. But although most don't believe it there actually is a thrust at the club (and supported by Mourinho) to try to bring some of our youngsters through over the next 2-3 seasons. So there is a balancing act to do there. But I'd be surprised if we didn't make a couple of big signings.

I think City are the ones in trouble. They are already struggling with FFP and have an ageing squad that needs refreshing.

I agree with you, I do think City are the ones that are facing some serious trials ahead and I fully anticipate a bit of spending from Chelsea and United in the Summer.

Very disappointed about Falcao, would like him to come good but resigning myself to the inevitable.

Torres. Bad knee injury, never the same player afterwards.

The only difference is that Liverpool were able to scam Abramovich (who was still in fantasy football mode back then) whereas Monaco weren't able to scam the Glazers (who have never been in fantasy football mode).

The season starts later in Italy and Germany. They were only just beginning pre-season.

Liverpool's CL performance this season was a total embarrassment. Fortunately they shouldn't have the chance to embarrass the PL in the same way next season.

Most of the predictions I saw had Chelsea and City 1st and 2nd in either order and United, Arsenal and Liverpool fighting for 3rd and 4th. Pretty much as it has come out. The only team that has seriously exceeded expectations this season is Southampton.

Really stuck this week. Lots of options across the park. I currently have:

    Krul (Foster)
    Ivanovic, Clyne, Rose (PVA, Bellerin)
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Cazorla (Boyd)
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane

    2 FT, 0.0 ITB.

    I see my options as:

    1) Foster to Myhill or Davis
    2) Bellerin to Naughton
    3) Cazorla to Mane or Siggy
    4) Aguero to Austin (then Austin to Costa next week)
    5) Cazorla + Bellerin or PVA to Mane or Siggy + Alderweireld or Bertrand or Terry
    6) Other?!

To provide some 'risk context', I'm sitting on top of all but one of my mini leagues. All of these are close except for the one I am 2nd in - I am 60 points off the pace in that.

What do you reckon out of 1 to 6?! Any thoughts much appreciated.

thing is he plays Burnley after Liverpool. You'll tell yourself you can't sell Sanchez when he plays Burnley

Meh, I think his antics aren't really good for the club or the other players. More important is how they spend the money.

Wouldn't mind losing him for 60M. I think he'll come around though.

-Sturridge, Henderson and Ibe are like brothers to him
-Rodgers helped him develop into the player he is
      -He's settled in Liverpool
      -He's contracted until 2017
-He only has one kid to feed, not three

mainly because he's being more valued for his speed in defense than he is ability in offense IMO..

I think he's not worth a penny over 35m right now..
