Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Man United

After Alexis Sanchez ended Double Gameweek 37 with a season-high 27 points, Wednesday night’s meeting at St Mary’s has a lot to live up to.

Southampton entertain Manchester United in the penultimate showdown of a seven-day round of fixtures, and it’s fair to say that Claude Puel and Jose Mourinho both owe us a favour after their recent penchant for rotation scuppered many best-laid wildcard plans.

The Saints’ boss reinstalls a number of regulars after the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Snapped up by 40,000+ and 27,000+ respectively for their second successive Double Gameweek, Jack Stephens and Manolo Gabbiadini return to the first XI along with the likes of Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond and Cedric Soares.

Despite mustering just a single assist in his last six league outings, Gabbiadini is his side’s most captained player, with 15,000+ handing him the armband for the Double.

Fantasy faith in United is at a low as Mourinho looks to keep his main men fresh with one eye on next week’s Europa League final against Ajax.

Marcus Rashford continues to be used sparingly on the domestic stage and is handed a third successive appearance on the bench, though Wayne Rooney is named in the first XI for the fourth successive league outing.

Having found the net in three of his last four Gameweek appearances, the Red Devils’ skipper is the most captained FPL asset among Mourinho’s starting line-up, with almost 28,000 affording him the armband.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Would you go Caba over Cech if you already had Kos in your back line?

Yeah I'd probably split the chances. If Kos is definitely fit.

Hazard owner and I can't decide. Considering bringing in KDB for him but would be for -4. Stops Gabbi coming on off the bench if Haz is a no show.

I'm going to keep and if he is rested, I don't see the point in them bringing him on, so just take someone coming in off my bench.

That's a lot of money on the bench though. Depends who you've got coming on though.

I'm selling hazard and keeping Costa. don't want to take a hit and hazard seems most likely to be rested. will probably get coutinho but also considering alli or erikssen. what do you think?

    Cech (Pickford)
    Alonso, Bavies, Stephens (Bailly, Holgate)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Alli, King (JWP)

Which one would you bench: Alonso, Gibbs, Ben Davies or Stephens?

They all have a CS in them, but then again the last round could be a goal fest. Also feel one of them could get rotated.

Just be prepared to have a couple rested this gw. Taking hits is risky unless you have something to play for. It's hard to second guess managers and players.

Who would you rather keep when playing AOA this week?

    A) Carroll
    B) Gabbi

Both would mean taking a -8.

    Alonso - Davies - Monreal

    Kane - Jesus - Gabbi

Any changes required or gtg? Concerned about Chelsea rotation (and Gabbi obviously)...

    Caballero
    Alonso Monreal
    Sanchez Alli Sane Hazard Albrighton
    Jesus Kane Anichebe

    Pickford Lowton Stephens Holgate

1 FT, 0.2 itb. Plan to go AOA but with Anichebe not sure if I should?

    a) Hazard + Anichibe to Coutinho + Origi (-4)
    b) Hazard + Alli to Coutinho + Ozil (-4)
    c) Alli + Anichibe to Siggy or Lallana + Origi (-4)
    d) Hazard + Alli + Anichibe to Firmino + Ozil + Origi (-8)
    e) Haz or Alli to Coutinho (0)

If Hazard doesn't play against Sunderland, he'd go 12 days without a game before the final.

Considering he had a rest recently, and he's generally been one of the fittest players in the league over the years, it seems unlikely he won't play against Sunderland. It's the last home game of the season and Chelsea fans paid money to see Hazard.

6 days is plenty of rest, no?

It's plenty of rest but I'm still not confident of a start.

He's been brought off a lot this season before 90 and then goes and plays 90 in a nothing game. I'm waiting for word from Conte but I'm not hugely confident he starts.

To keep him sharp? Match practice is important.

I could understand that reasoning if he was someone like Sturridge, but Hazard is hardly going to break anything in a non-competitive game.

            I dunno, I'm probably wrong...

      C) Alli to Coutinho
      D) Kompany to Matip

or a combination of the 2 for -4. Not really feeling a hit as I dont want to give the AVERAGE a head start

Gabbiadini might well be the worst signing I have ever made in fantasy league history.

I once transferred in Lord Bendtner. Things could always be worse.

That's cos you jumped on the bandwagon late. If you had got on early you would have done well out of him.

        You signed Bendtner... on purpose??

        Yeah far too late.

Vardy is a great option for GW38 imo.

Coutinho only owned by 3.6% of the top 10k this week.

I wonder how many of the 82k that have brought him in this week belong in the top 10k 🙂

Every time we expect a haul from him he disappoints

This seems like the worst week for early transfers. Pressers may give us hints of rotation, and inform us of any "holiday injuries" that have popped up for the final day. HOLD!

Ditto. I don't understand the rush to do early transfers in GW38. It's not as if team value can be carried to next season.

Chelsea are willing to pay Eden Hazard £300,000-a-week to sign a new contract and insist he will not be sold this summer. (Telegraph)

For 300k per week he must offer to Che at least 20 goals & 10 assists per year.

Apparently Tianjin Quanjian are ready to meet Dortmunds €88m asking price for Aubameyang whilst offering him a €1m a week salary!
