Fantasy Eliteserien – Gameweek 20 Preview

This Gameweek will be the last ahead of another three week break, which involves Cup quarter finals and international matches.

The Norwegian transfer window closed this week(August 16th), although players can still be sold abroad so we’ll have to wait another two weeks before we know who stays for sure.

STOCK CHECK

Rising

Samuel Adegbenro (7.9, Rosenborg, midfielder)

One of the best Fantasy picks this season just got even better. A big move from Viking to Rosenborg could see his returns get even bigger and more consistent.

He faces more competition for a starting spot, but he do have an x-factor that other Rosenborg wingers doesn’t have (at least based on this year’s form). He’s been included in Rosenborg’s squad against Ajax in the Europa League tonight. If he starts  it could have an impact on his minutes on Sunday.

Krepin Diatta (5.6, Sarpsborg, midfielder)

Probably the hottest player in Eliteserien right now. He was a popular pick in pre-season, but hasn’t settled in until now mainly because of international duty – he’s  been away for U20 African Cup of Nations, as well as the U20 World Cup.

The last three games he’s been tearing opposition defences apart. A goal and an assist last time out, as well as a goal against Odd in the cup and an assist against Haugesund have made him a popular pick recently. In addition, the experts have awarded him five bonus points in the last two.

He’s been close to a move to bigger clubs twice this summer, but currently it looks like he stays for the season at least.

Nicklas Bendtner (12.2, Rosenborg, forward)

The lord Bendtner has finally started doing what we expected him to do at the start of the season.

Five goals in the last five, as well as maximum bonus points in the last two, brings him back into our thinking. As most other Rosenborg players, he could be a risk this week as they face Ajax tonight in the Europa League.

Joachim Olsen Solberg (4.7, Sandefjord, defender)

Seck who? The Seck bandwagon early on has probably not done Olsen Solberg any favours. As a lot of us already own Seck and have been reluctant to sign up for a  Sandefjord double up. But lately Holberg has shown himself as a better option than Seck, delivering attacking returns in each of the last four games, including two goals and two assist – mostly due to his deadly set-pieces.

Patrick Mortensen (7.5, Sarpsborg, forward)

Mortensen has slowly been coming back into our thoughts. Three goals in the last four means he’s now scored as many as Bendtner this season, a total of nine goals.

Ohi Omoijuanfo (7.8, Stabæk, forward)

He continues to score regulary and is Eliteserien’s topscorer with 13 goals in 19. He missed a penalty recently in his only blank in the last four.

Espen Bugge Pettersen (4.8, Strømsgodset, goalkeeper)

Two clean sheets, one assist and four bonus points in the last three means Bugge Pettersen is the last one on the rising list. A tally of 23 points in the last three has surely made his 1.3% ownership happy.

Falling

Tore Reginiussen (6.2, Rosenborg, defender)

What looked like a minor injury has kept him out of the last two games. Put in Rosenborg’s poor defensive form and you’ve got the most transfered out player this week.

Daniel Braaten (6.9, Brann, midfielder)

Much like Reginiussen, what looked like a minor injury has now kept him out of four games in a row. Brann have been looking really dire without him.

Piotr Liecjewski (5.3, Brann, goalkeeper)

Another pick who’s been out with a small injury for three games in a row. There’s been a lot of transfer speculation around him as well, but it looks like he’s staying now at least.

Amin Nouri (5.9, Brann, defender)

One of the hottest defenders in the game a few weeks back is now out of favour. He’s rejected a new contract and is leaving Brann at the end of the season. Brann has decided to give Jonsson the nod instead, as well as signing Teniste from Sogndal on a pre-contract for next season.

Milan Jevtovic (8.6, Rosenborg, midfielder)

Jevtovic has been up and down all season, but the arrival of Adegbenro probably means he won’t start every match from now (as long as everyones fit). He’ll surely get a lot of game time, but definitely not a sure starter anymore.

Fredrik Haugen (10.1, Brann, midfielder)

Just a single assist in the last five is way less than you expect from one of the most expensive players in the game. Definitely not in the same form as he was at the start of the season.

Tonny Brochmann (7.1, Stabæk, midfielder)

Six blanks in the last seven have seen his ownership drop a lot. Another one who’s not as red hot as he was a few weeks ago.

Mos (8.8, Aalesund, forward)

Mos is a hard one. He has blanked in his last four starts, but scored two goals in a 21 minute cameo against Brann. At that price you’d expect more, but he’s still one of the top scorers in the league.

Bjørn Bergmann Sigurdarson (10.2, Molde, forward)

After a great run of games with very few blanks, he’s now blanked three games in a row. Just when we though we had a reliable captaincy pick, he proved us wrong. With decent fixtures coming up hopefully he’ll return to form.

DIFFERENTIALS FOR GAMEWEEK 20

Krepin Diatta (5.6, Sarpsborg, midfielder)

Not much more to be said. He’s a level above most players in Eliteserien, low priced and low ownership (4.4%). He’s the ultimate differential this week.

Julian Ryerson (4.3, Viking, defender)

Viking had to fit in some new arrivals, which ment Ryerson was pushed forward to an attacking role last week. With the departure of Samuel Adegbenro I expect him to stay in an attacking role and give us a great, cheap out of position option. Viking have signed three new defenders (and eight players in total) this window, so it remains to see how much of impact the new signings will have. 8.4% ownership, but I’m pretty sure a lot of his ownership come from dead teams as he was a popular pick in pre season and the first few gameweeks.

Mushaga Bakenga (9.9, Tromsø, forward)

A deadline day move should mean regular minutes for Mushaga Bakenga. His price is too high for his potential in my opinion, but I fancy a debut goal against Aalesund.

NEW SIGNINGS

As mentioned the transfer window closed last night and I’ll do a short round-up of the transfers that has happened since the last article.

Rosenborg have made the most high profile transfers, as they’ve added both Anders Trondsen and Samuel Adegbenro to their squad. A lot of managers now are probably sitting with four or maybe five Rosenborg players in their squad, which means they have to sell one or two of them before doing any other moves. Mushaga Bakenga has left for Tromsø and Elba Rashanifor Odd. Fredrik Midtsjø remains a Rosenborg player, but a move to AZ Alkmaar still looks likely.

Sarpsborg have signed Danish player Nikolai Paulsen from Randers as a replacement for Trondsen. They have also signed winger Rashad Muhammed from Florø.

Brann made a deadline day move for Dutch winger Ludcinio Marengo, while Steffen Lie Skålevik went out on loan to second tier club Start.

Molde have also strengthened their squads, signing Mathias Normann on loan from Brighton, Martin Ellingsen from Kongsvinger and winger Ibrahima Wadji. Sander Svendsen have left for Swedish club Hammarsby and Etzaz Hussain went on loan to Odd.

Haugesund signed centre back Marko Cosic and defensive midfielder Aleksandar Kovacevic.

Stabæk signed Chinese midfielder Hongliang Too, striker Rubio Rubin and experienced keeper John Alvbage, while Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was released.

Strømsgodset replaced backup keeper Sosha Makani with Pål-Vestly Heigre from Aalesund. Aalesund replaced Heigre with Jan Urke. They also signed centre back Tero Mäntylä.

Odd have signed Etzaz Hussain on loan as mentioned, as well as Elba Rashani from Rosenborg. Vålerenga sold their backup keeper Aslak Falch.

Lillestrøm have added another young Nigerian in Moses Ebiye, while Bajram Ajeti has left the club.

Sogndal added winger Stanisa Mandic and centre back Mohamed Didé Fofana to their squad, while Kristiansund have added experienced midfielder Magne Hoseth.

Viking have added experienced centre back Andreas Nordvik to their squad, as well as the lost talent George Green. As mentioned a couple of time Samuel Adegbenro has left the club.

Tromsø added striker Mushaga Bakenga and Anzhi midfielder Shamil Gasanov in the final days of the window.

Dilemma: Should I change Mos with Willhjalmson or Mortensen? Don't think Mos will score at Alfheim.. Is it likely that Willhjamson will play more than 60min? Dont think that Mortensen will score against Godset..or?

So still got 2 FTs and my dilemma is do I bring in Adegbenro this week or not

If yes - then is it

    A. Straight swap for Jevtovic?
    B. 2FTs Brochmann to Adegbenro and address Hedenstad injury?
    C. Wildcard - no flags but hearing Hedenstad, Seck, Moe all injured?
    D. Save and wait for Europa fixtures to pass and deal with next week?

    Lie
    Rolantsson Hedenstad Seck
    Haugen Jevtovic Brochmann Knudtzon
    B Sigurdarson Omoijuanfo Mos(K)

    Bratveit Schulze Moe Gregersen

    Cheers!

I don't think Seck is injured. Personally I would bring in Diatta and Adegbenro for Jevtovic and Brochmann.

But there is a chance Jevtovic could start. I could easily see Adegbenro starting over him against Ajax next week. Helland is probably out.

Ugh.... the more I look at the DGW's, the more uncertain I become.... looks like a Tromsø and Vålerenga combo is the way to go, but I don't really fancy the fixtures overall.... Vålerenga should have the best bet of all of those though, with 2 home fixtures against what normally should be beatable teams.

Going for a punt for next weekend though, Grossmüller at Sandefjord has shown some class in his few sub-in mins lately, think he is close to a starting XI spot now.

Opinions on who people are going for in the DGW's?
          I'm considering:
          GW23:
Sigurdarson, Bakenga, Åsen or a combination thereoff
Might punt on an Odd defender, they need to convince though.....

          GW25:
Only Zahid and Tollas catch my fancy tbh, I'll keep hold of Stølås but not hoping too much there...

On the other hand.. There are so many players blanking in this game and we so often end up with 30-40 scores. A DGW player is almost certain to give you 4+ points.

Tromsø have many cheap options, so it's easy to find room for three. Vålerenga are harder, but they have good fixtures so I should find at least two. Haugesund have decent fixtures, so I'll get at least two there as well. Odd on the other hand.. Two away fixtures in the DGW and high prices compared to what they have delivered. I'm hoping to find room for two, but I'm not sure..

Only fkh fixtures particularly appeal to me in terms of holding for rest of season (odd/vif ok for last 5).
Not sure how many I'm willing to get in for one/two GWs.

Hajradinovic apparently suspended by the club for an indefinite amount of time. Time to get rid then I would think.. http://www.eurosport.no/fotball/eliteserien/2017/haugesund-profil-suspendert-pa-ubestemt-tid_fot_sto6294580/story.shtml

Going no Rosenborg (apart from Hedenstad) or Omo is high risk but not too bad a tactic this week, got 25 from my first three players. Relying on the bench this week but thankfully was prepared for that.

Change in formation for TIL seems to be paying off. Anyone know where Sigurdarson was today? Injured or is it to do with him wanting a move, or just tactical choice?

Will watch highlights but anyone know how Bakenga did today? I imagine his pace helped stretch the defence, will be interesting if this makes Åsen or Lehne Olsen (or even Hani Alves) viable options.

Sigurdarson injured. He played out wide it seems.

The problem now is they are playing three up front. Who do they leave out when Sigurdarson is back? Eying up either him or Åsen as a cheap midfield option, but I don't have a clue who they will drop.

I might be wrong, but maybe it was Lehne Olsen out wide and Bakenga as a striker? Didn't watch the game.

I think Lehne Olsen has played on the left before so it's possible. Him, Åsen and Sigurdarson have all played pretty much all the time so yeah, tricky to see who'll be dropped

It's interesting to watch the transfers out this round. Many teams are be overloaded on Rosenborg players, so many are forced to sell the least attractive ones.

Fair point. Shipped Hedenstad and Reginiussen on my wildcard. Doubt I'll get any Rosenborg defenders as they've such a disappointment for me. I've had two Rosenborg defenders as well for a long while and I've barely got any clean sheets from them.

Will probably get Bendtner in addition to Adegbenro and maybe consider Skjelvik if they don't go through in the Europa League. To be fair I might drop Bendtner too if they go into the group stage in EL.

I have Hansen, Helland and Hedenstad and will be holding them atm. Ajax at home this week for them so tired legs apart I am not holding out much hope for a consistent RBK team to pick from.
Helland price drop coming up makes my wild card more urgent than I hoped.

My team needs some serious fixing , 2 ft and 0.3 itb

                Bratveit McDermott

                Remmer Hedenstad Seck Rolantssen Moe

                Knudtzon Jevtovic Jradi Haugen Storbaek

                Mos Siggy Flo

I ended up with only 2 playing defenders + Jevtovic didn't play as well + Flo , only saved by captaining Haugen this week

So is it better to make 3 transfers for a -4 or wildcard?

No need to panic. There's a three week break now.

Bråtveit, Rolantsson, Remmer and Seck all have good fixtures next GW. Rolantsson was ill, so should be back. He could be benched, but I think he'll start. Hedenstad and Moe could easily fill in if not.

Haugen has a great fixture, Jradi could do well against anyone. Knudtzon is a great pick when he plays up front, but he started out wide this GW. Was moved up front at half time though, so I'm not sure where he'll start next GW. I'm not a big fan of Storbæk as a FPL pick, but he has a good fixture next week and could fill in if needed.

                  Mos and Sigurdarson good picks.

I'd say ship Jevtovic. I would look at upgrading Flo, but it's depending on your budget. You could also upgrade Storbæk or replace Knudtzon.

Conclusion: No need for a knee-jerky -4 unless there are new injuries during the break.

I think i will be replacing both Jevtovic and Knudtzon for now and replace/upgrade Flo later when i activate my WC

Any recommendations on who to get for Jevtovic+Knudtzon + 0.3 itb ?

Diatta + Adegbenro or Zahid would be my picks (Zahid obviously depending on sale value for Jevtovic + Knudtzon)

Probably some other decent picks too.

Etzaz Hussain scored a goal and three bonus as a sub. Not the most exciting midfielder for fantasy, but maybe a decent fifth midfielder at 5.5 for the DGW.

Våge Nilsen two bonus as well and Semb Berge. Will probably shift Ruud for one of them. I was all set on Våge Nilsen until Hussain signed. Is he still nailed on? I would expect Samuelsen, Hussain and Nordkvelle (who's likely to return after the break) to be starters, but they'll probably need Nilsen for the balance? He could play left back as well. Anyone have more insight?

Knudsen two bonus today for Haugesund. Knudsen vs. Stølås going to be a tough one. Stølås most attacking potential, but Knudsen is picking up loads of bonus points this year.

Kassi has really been flying under the radar this year. He's consistently been racking up points. Nine points today and fifth among the midfielders overall.

Papazoglou scoring again and picking up two bonus points. Three goals in his three first appearances now. Norbye 4.0 right wingback with a bonus point. Nilsen 4.0 left wingback as well.

Høiland has done the same as Papazoglou. Three starts, a goal in each game. A bonus point this time out. Ryerson in an attacking goal for the second game in a row. Scored a beautiful goal. Haugen finally get attacking returns.

Zahid got an assist and two bonus points last night. Vålerenga not in good form right now though.

Unlucky Niemi with your 1st sub being Reginiussen - but at least you called Ruud & Bratveit!

At least he didn't get a negative score. In the end it didn't matter as Rolantsson didn't play, would have got him off the bench anyway.

We'll have more on Rosenborg as there's a three week break now, so we'll know about Rosenborg two weeks before deadline.

I've already pulled the trigger, but the plan was to get rid of all my Brann assets. Might have been better to wait another week as they got Sogndal at home coming up next GW.

I really hope Ulland Andersen starts though. He did go off with an injury, but didn't look too serious. Not read a word on it afterwards. He was on a show where they previewed the gameweek as well, but they didn't ask him if he was injured. No mention of any injury at all, so I'd guess they would have mentioned it at least if he was out. If he doesn't show up I'll get a one-pointer from Mendy.

Deyver Vega was MOTM for Brann and the new winger Marenga had a good debut. I'm not totally convinced Rolantsson will walk straight back into the team. He's been pretty dire lately, although he did well last GW against Odd. If they had any competition he would have been benched a long time ago. Not saying he'll be benched next GW, but he's much less safe now. Braaten could be coming back from injury too after the break (although they didn't give a time frame on the latest update), giving Brann four decent options for the two spots.

I feel like my WC team is almost settled already. Goalkeeper, four midfielders and three strikers all settled on. I know which teams I want my five defenders from, but some headache on price vs. attacking/bonus potential. Also not settled on my fifth midfielder, although I've cut down the choice to two options.

Rosenborg going through to Europa League group stage could bring some further headache as well. I'm currently on Bendtner and Adegbenro, but they could be prone to rotation almost every week as the first five group stage matches will be played midweek between Eliteserien games.

                              Something like?

                              ODD/FKH/VIF
                              ODD, FKH, VIF, SAN/TIL, TIL
Diatta, Adegbenro, Haugen (to Zahid), SIF/TIL, FKH
                              Bendtner, BBS, Mortensen

At least that's what I'll probably do closer to the gw23.

Currently I'm 0.1 short of the team I want, but hopefully Seck will rise another 0.1 before deadline. Also got in Olsen Solberg hoping for a double rise, but probably unlikely.

The balance is tricky. SIF, RBK, SAN & S08 have generally great fixtures til the end but no dgw. I need to work through some rotations.

I've got rid of all Strømsgodset and Sandefjord on my WC. Kept two Brann assets (replaced Rolantsson though) for short term fixtures, but might sell ahead of GW25 (or GW23)

Strømsgodset fixtures aren't that good for the next three gameweeks and EUA haven't had the previous great form lately. They have shown before they are fixture proof though. Fixture clear up too, so I might jump back onto one of their midfielders in a few weeks if they are in form.

I'm currently staying away from Tromsø midfielders, although I'm open to selling Haugen for one of them ahead of GW23 if they are in good form. They have three spots for Sigurdarson, Åsen, Lehne Olsen and Bakenga. I was eying up two of the former, but I'm fearing rotation. Åsen should start the next few, but what if he underperforms?

SIF - nice games for a mid from GW23, particularly at home where they're a lot better.

SAN - not great for clean sheets but after S08 probaby have best remaining fixtures on papaer (if Solberg can capitalise on them).

BRA - in no hurry to lose them yet as seem to have remembered how to score. But Rolantsson won't remain in wc given alternatives.

TIL - not ready to revist a Tromso attcker yet. A.Sigurdarson's stats & highlights were always impressive but under-delivered. Need to see more than one win as don't like their fixtures/form even with a double. One of the main factors delaying my wc. A 4m defender for a dgw maybe worth it as gw23 doesn't look the best for overall clean sheets anyway. I don't have an informed view on individuals beyond public stats as I've never even seen a full Tromso game.

Just a quick note on TIL. They have been looking better under their new manager, but not the most exciting team and not the best fixtures. This league is random though and I'm getting Kongshavn as my McDermott replacement and Norbye as a fifth defender. Kongshavn get two points most weeks, which would mean at least four points in the DGW. I'd take that over a SGW keeper that week. Same goes for Norbye. Two points most weeks, some attacking potential as a wing back and a small chance for CS. Both easy to place on the bench for the remaining weeks.

Thanks for the info. Not sure about rationale for Kongshavn, but guess if the logic works for a defender it works for the GK. I'm thinking Rossbach for that spot based on GW22 + 26-29 (occasional rotation with Kwarasey/Bratveit - I know you don't like rotating) but not much in it and admittedly uses up more funds. The Sigurdarson quandry makes me more inclined to wait atm.

Rossbach is a better option, but I want Bråtveit as my main keeper (great fixtures + DGW). Both is too expensive for me. Bråtveit do have Viking at home when Kongshavn have a DGW though, so I'm not 100% sure I'll play him. We'll see. Rossbach is a great option too as Odd have good home fixtures before and after the DGW.

Boring 0-0 match. Not a lot of chances, both sides looked good in defence. Can't see any bonus for attacking players.

Tagbajumi received his 3rd yellow card against Vålerenga, so Knudtzon might survive a bit longer in my team.

Godset will miss both their centre backs, Madsen and Glesnes, to suspension. They don't have a 4th CB in their squad.

Lasse Nilsen should be suspended. His 4 yellow cards from lower league play should count.

Zachariassen, Danielsen, Demba Bindia(2+), Knudsen , Wangberg, Landu Landu and Sørli are also suspended.

Kirkeskov might have his one match suspension rescinded.

Seck was my only defender to play more than 25 minutes this week. Assume A is the priority to get rid of, but are the rest ok?

Hedenstad and Kind Mikalsen should be fit. Rolantsson was ill, so he'll be back for next GW. Vega was MOTM and new winger Marenga did well for Brann, and Braaten could be back. I still think Rolantsson will start, but there is a small chance he'll be benched.

Nouri seems to be out of favour. Jonsson has done well in a few games, but he was horrible against Viking so I wouldn't completely rule out Nouri starting.

Humblebrag: currently ranked 2164th overall. Transfers made: 0. Changes to starting XI: 0.

According to the rules it is, since transfers are a deciding factor in case of a tie. I just find it funny that I'm leading my mini league even though my rivals are making transfers (and have all the information about my team). 🙂

I remember there was someone in FPL a couple of years ago who was ranked 17th overall around Christmas (Mahrez cap and Vardy as well). But I think she ended up around the 2million mark or something.

Best replacement? Mortensen the obvious one, but tempted to take a punt on Papazoglou.

Høiland tempting too, but Papazoglou better fixture and slightly better team. Høiland have penalties, I guess Papazoglou won't take penalties with Mos on the pitch.

Barely know anything about Papazoglou though, so it's hard to make a good judgement. Stats looks good, but only based on three matches so I don't know if he can keep it up. Høiland stats okay, but not that good.

Fair enough. Mortsensen hasn't been very inspiring to watch in games I've seen, but he takes shots, more often than not gets himself in the box for any wayward opportunities, the team are ok, and fixtures appeal (except rbk gw24).

A dgw23 fwd would be ideal, but none yet consistently form & fixtures appealing.
