The ScoutCast – Episode 238 – Spooked

Whether it’s Pep’s rotation, Jonty’s runaway facial hair or a rogue horse in Andy’s front garden, the ScoutCast crew are decidedly spooked in this week’s Halloween episode.

Downed by a bout of Labyrinthitis – which is as nasty as it sounds – I’m forced to duck out as Jonty, Andy, Granville and Az run riot.

Your community questions help to keep them in check, forcing the quartet to once again assess City rotation, while giving views on Chelsea’s big-hitters, a Foxes revival and a slew of budget defenders.

Jonty rolls out his “ghouls imminent” table, while Andy unknowingly mocks my affliction from afar with back-to-back ear puns; in between they preview the weekend’s action to reveal their captain and transfer picks.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Budget not an issue - who do I take out for Kane:

    A) Firmino
    B) Jesus
    C) Vardy

Leaning towards Firm out, as already have Salah, but wondering if Jesus' lack of security swings it.

1FT burned but I'm fine with that, made the move Haz > Alli. Sorry Alli owners, blank incoming. Not confident however that Chelsea would return much over the next three compared to Spurs.

    Eliot
    VVD Otamendi Duffy (Ward Mbemba)
    Alli Salah Sterling Choupo (RLC)
    Joselu Kane (c) Kun

Yeah, seen the clean sheets in the big matches this year? Besides, you don't advocate dropping of a big defender for a hit, if you don't know the rest of the lot since you have to assume the defender can be benched.

Also RLC and Carrol so playing 4 ATB and Carrol would be the best option to bench kola for

You have 3 playable defenders this week with half decent fixtures to not take a hit on Kola. You would need a banker clean sheet from anyone you bring in on a hit to break even. Not sure there's many besides Spurs.

Looking at Arsenal's Europa League squad, Coquelin and Elneny played 90 mins, while Mertesacker didn't play at all. This strongly suggests that Mertesacker will play at the weekend, while Xhaka and Ramsey will be going up against KDB and Silva - hardly a comforting thought as an Arsenal fan.

Was really hoping that Wenger would bring in one of the DMs at the weekend to mark KDB out of the game, which now looks unlikely. As a result I am now captaining Aguero. Anyone thinking similarly?

Kane still a great shout for sure, but still slightly apprehensive about Spurs vs defensive teams at Wembley. Dare I say it I feel there's greater upside with Aguero. Could well be 3-0 down within 20 mins.

Hmm, yeah, I already own Kun. I just want him long term, since I can easily see him bracing with some of those fixtures. No money for Kane this week (silly WC error), so debating either Lukaku next week or Kane. Lukaku has the better fixture though.

Brighton away have mostly been crap except against West Ham. Swansea should do well and shut them out. Bournemouth are still an attacking side who mostly don't care about conceding. Could be a more open game.

Could get another 6 pointer, has been very consistent, just not sure if I trust Swansea to shut him out. That's the good thing about having an attacker playing a defender you own, more likely than not you benefit from whatever goes down

What are everyone's plans on city attacking assets in the long-term, heavy points potential but the risk of rotation is hefty.

    1. We Will Klopp you

Keep them, having 2 playing bench players to cover them, and perma captain Kane most gws to avoid a waste of captaincy

By them who lol? I've left money in the bank to do Jesus -> Lukaku next gwk. Sterling will be my online city attacking asset left and his constantly going to be rotated.

Sane & Aguero, lol. I just feel the upside outweighs the rotation risk and considering I can permacaptain Kane for about 14 gws out of 15 I can afford to accomodate them. Would be more inclined to get rid of Jesus if I had him though. Sterling has been consistently returning off the bench so probably worth keeping until he slows down. Sane & Aguero seem more secure atm.

Currently have pencilled in holding Aguero till gw15 to see how Lukaku looks & how much Aguero plays, may then switch at gw17 but that isn't set in stone yet

After this GW it will officially be longest I've held onto my WC. Will have 2FT's over the international break so there is no need to use it in the short term. Can anyone think of a good time to use it between now and GW19?

Of your team is that good use it for GW 19.

Yeah possibly. The other time could be before fixture congestion strikes to load up on rotation proof on players.

Not sure if there is a fixture swing at all.

      Depends on your team

My team's defense expires in GW13, so I'm planning to WC before GW14

They've looked pretty decent defensively in the recent games. I'd take a couple of cleanies in the next 5, plus he always has an upside of attacking returns. I'd happily get him in my team at that price.

I did TC Lukaku against Palace. I have Kane now, and if I still had, don't think I'd use it. There have been 3-4 dgws last 4 seasons so plenty of room for tc, fh, WC.

Bournemouth started the year horribly but looked better of late. 3 goals conceded in the last 4 which includes games against Spurs and Chelsea.

If you have any faith they will turn things around then Daniels is worth a shout at 4.8m in my opinion given the fixtures. He'll be my Cedric replacement next week if everything goes to plan.

Agreed. I’d rather go with a £4.5m option for a more solid team (Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle, Leicester) and save the £0.3m.

busy week and being a lazy a** .. short of 0.1 for Morata >> Kane

    Fabianski
    Otamendi | Davies | Jones
    Salah | Alli | Silva | Atsu
    Abraham | Morata | Jesus
    Elliot | Mee | Bellerín | King

    1 FT & 2.4 ITB

    A. Morata + King >> Kane + 4.3mid (-4)
    B. Morata + Bellerin >> Kane + Moreno (-4)

    Please suggest, thanks.

Long term it's better I think anyway. Chelsea have great fixtures soon and Morata hopefully regains form, could be great. I'll be losing Jesus next week but I already have Kane.
