A successful 2011/12 promotion campaign saw Southampton rack up the goals as Nigel Adkins’ side finished second in the npower Championship. Having found the net 85 times last term, the Saints immediately placed Fantasy managers on alert and on the lookout for new blood for their squads. The most obvious and popular pick was Rickie Lambert who notched 25 goals in the Championship, while Adam Lallana and new arrivals Jay Rodriguez and later Gaston Ramirez have also been touted as potential Fantasy options. Even Morgan Schneiderlin – who had just two goals in almost 150 appearances coming into the season – has received some attention after his goal against Man United in Gameweek three.
with berba out for a couple weeks am forced to play michu
Open ControlsEver since I started asking whether a Bale to Cazorla switch was worth a 4pt hit, I've noticed an increasing support for the Spaniard ahead of this weekend. I've no illusions that I have played any part in this mini-bandwagon but does this not give me a more conclusive answer to the question
"Should I take a hit to take out Bale for Cazorla?"?
If you have time, do you think Baines is a better captaincy choice than Pienaar?Open ControlsDon't take a hit to get rid of Bale, no. Do it after next week for free.
Yeah, I'd rather captain Baines than Pienaar.Open ControlsI agree with this. Possibly no Valencia, and definitely no Vidic means United will be more vulnerable. I wouldn't be surprised if Bale scored well, even if I think United will win...
Open ControlsSo you think Bale will outscore Cazorla this week?
Open ControlsI don't think Cazorla will outscore Bale by more than 4 points in the next 2 GWs.
I didn't say I think Bale will outscore Cazorla this week.Open ControlsI was planning to make the transfer next week anyway which is one reason why I am particularly interested in this weeks points. If the 4 points come over three weeks then I will be happy enough
Open Controls
I think we're getting close to the situation where the best teams will not be worth anything close to £100m. For example, look at this team:
Jassk - Begovic
Baines - Gibbs - Demel - Clyne - Gorkss
HBA - Fellaini - Cazorla - Pienaar - Puncheon
Berb - Fletcher - Ba
Total: £93m
I'm suggesting doing this, but it would be a competitive team IMO.
Thoughts?Open Controls*not suggesting 😉
Open ControlsWord. And you could sell Ba for Lambert and get Sterling for Puncheon (If you don't want to double up on Southampton) and suddenly you're even cheaper. The defense is brutally bad though. Southampton/Reading/West Ham ain't Swansea. I doubt they'll get 10 clean sheets between them this season...
Open Controlslol, how many have west ham gotten on their own already?
Open Controls
Good point - even adding RVP for BA gets you to around $98m
Open Controls
Alcaraz out for Wigan!!!
Is there no ESCAPE from all theses withdrawals?!Open ControlsAm I better off starting Sterling over Morrison this weekend? I know Morrison is 50/50
Open ControlsTough call, id actually go with Morrison as if he wont start than he likely wont play at all
Open Controls
The Ba over Berbatov transfer last week seems a masterstroke in hindsight.. gotta feel bad for the Berb owners though. Good thing thre's no lack of options though
Open ControlsTevez, Berba, Jarvis > Jelavic, HBA, Lambert
Madness?Open ControlsI got hate for HBA, otherwise not so bad. How big of a hit?
Open Controls-8.
I need to ditch Jarvis before he plummets in value and I'm left holding him so resigned to losing -4 there. I was going to ditch Tevez but it seems stupid to keep an injured striker and ditch a fit one. So I may ditch both.Open ControlsHi Scroob - somehow the players coming in here don't seem quite exciting enough to warrant an 8 pt hit. I know each is a good player but if there was a, say, Suarez or Podolski in there (in other words a captaincy option and a long-term option to play against anyone) - I'd be more tempted.
Open Controls+1
Some numptey on twitter called Billy Mac is proposing the same 8 point hit... i wonder if they are related 😉Open Controls
Double up on Pienaar and Fellaini and decide which one to keep in a few weeks, or just go with Pienaar and HBA now?
Open ControlsDouble up.. 3 weeks swap
Open ControlsThats what im thinking, cheers
Open Controls
I think Pienaar/Fellaini/HBA are all in the same group of players and there is not a lot to call between any of them.
That said, fixtures for Everton look very good while those for Newcastle just good. Personally, I would look for someone else to take out for Fellaini as the three mid-price midfielders are the pick of the bunch.Open ControlsCould also do Michu to HBA in gw 9, good avdice actually.
Open Controls
am i the only one on a wildcard with pineaar but without fellaini?
I have the extra cash too but prefer pienaarOpen ControlsThought long and hard about it. I've gone Fell, but still worry about him picking up cards. Just can't ignore his form though.
Open ControlsI'm with you. Happy with Pienaar, just think he is going to give a moe consistent return over the longer term. Berba's injury is makiing me consider Jelly now though
Open ControlsI'm happy to have both and will choose one to get rid of later. Not sold on Fellani for more than a couple of GWs in advance though.
Open Controlsyeah, peinaar could do equally as well. stick with your gut
Open Controls
Which one to play:
A. Noble (qpr)
B. Dyer (stk)
Thanks.Open ControlsB) never play noble (note.. Noble has however made 12 key passes this season and is on penos. )
Open ControlsDepends on the rest of the team.
I'm playing Noble over Dyer, but I've also got Graham upfront that covers Swansea, so I'm spreading my risk.Open Controlsfaith in noble i see.. is it just cause you have a game to root for on Monday night 😉
Open ControlsTis nice I will have a Monday interest yes. Normally I would play Dyer, but with Graham in my team, and with Stoke usually tight at home, I'm going to give Noble a run out.
Open Controls
Why isn't Dyer banned. Did he only get hit for one match?
Open Controls
Baines to keep a cleanie.. hmm or Ba capt
Open Controlsid go baines (but am a toffee fan so a little bias)
Open Controls
Have Lambert and no Pool.
Guthrie -> Sterling is a no brainer, right?
Assuming yes, play him or Michu (stk)?Open Controlswhy is Dyer not red on fantasy he was sent off against everton???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Open Controlsim guessing because he played in the cup midweek
Open ControlsOr that he didn't???!
Open Controls
Calm down!
Suspension over in the League Cup midweek.Open Controlshow'd you do that?
Open ControlsHe served his suspension in the Capital One Cup midweek.
Hope this isn't going to be this season's Bosingwa incident!Open Controlshello?
anyone
help
pleaseOpen Controlsthanks
Open Controls
Why so many ?marks.... He served his ban in cup match,
Open Controls
Ha. Berba was in my WC team. Who should I get instead to cover the next two games? Fletcher only has a good game this week. Lukaku? Or get jelavic, and downgrade one of my everton mids?
Open ControlsSuarez
Open ControlsHmmm not sure after that. Ba, Lambert or Jelavic i suppose
Open Controls
I'm in the same boat China and must confess I am considering Suarez
Open ControlsHow do you fancy a cheeky risk on Dzeko? 😉
Open ControlsPodolski?
Open Controls^ Good shout ^
Open Controls
Has SAF spoken? what time is it if he has'nt?
Open ControlsPienaar / Foster
or
Fellaini / Begovic
(my other GK is Jussi, fwiw)Open ControlsThe former.
Open Controls
Lateriser is going to be so upset. Biggest mancrush I've ever seen!
Open Controls😆 True!
Open Controls- Open Controls
James Morrison returns to training for West Brom.
https://twitter.com/WBAFCofficial/status/251672722034266114Open ControlsSo glad I'm proving myself right by thinking Hazard will not be a regular source of points this season. He was a very hit and miss player in Ligue 1 and he will likely be the same here. First 3 GWs for him were certainly a one off. Expect another 2 pointer tomorrow Hazard owners 🙂
Open Controlsthey did enjoy his first 2 GW's points though.
Open ControlsI would have to if I had him!
Don't get me wrong, I fully expect him to have more 10+ point weeks but, at the same time, expect 2s and 3s a lot more often.Open Controls
Expect disappointment when he scores... 🙂
Open Controls
1 free transfer this week need to ditch 1 of Berbs or Tevez any idea how long Berb is out for
Open ControlsAm in the same boat speccy - looking at Tevez to Podolski and benching Berba for a few weeks.
If not I can only afford 7.7m striker = Lambert / Fletcher / Defoe and I'm not keen on Defoe away at ManU.....don't like the other 2 either.....despite their points recentlyOpen ControlsI was tempted to do Tevez-Jelly but unsure of him starting so unsure of what to do now
Open ControlsAye plus the comments below is making me want to hang on to Berba. I think I am happier dicthing Tevez who may / may not start for Podolski who has a great run after Chelsea.
In addition, Jelly should be a good shout, so go for it....maybe wait until later tonight in case any more info comes to light?Open Controls
I`m not convinced Berbs will miss the Southampton game
"“Unfortunately Dimitar is injured now and can’t play on Saturday so that is the disappointing thing,” Jol told the gathered media. “He will be out for the next two weeks.
“In his session he was looking good, as usual, and then his final shot he felt something and he had to go in and stop training. It appears he had – not a tear – but a sort of problem with his hip and upper thigh so we couldn’t take the risk to involve him against City."
He says could not take the risk to involve him v City, I think his two weeks is a dutch way of saying he `ll be back for Southampton. Something has been lost in "translation"Open ControlsAye, i think i am keeping and seeing what Jol says next week. 3-5-2 this week.
Open Controls
hi guys . a little help for the (c) kun vs fletcher ?
Open ControlsAnd i'm one of them 🙁 So, play Guthrie or Demel, or trade Berb for someone.....
Time to put the thinking hat on!Open Controlsdifficult not to laugh right! 😆
Open ControlsHilarious stuff there Captain Hindsight.
Open ControlsFor once I agree with you
Open ControlsNow all we need is for Alan Pardew, with the new found sense of authority his 8 year contract has brought, to bench Ba.
Open Controls+1 megalolz
Open ControlsPeople were still getting him in after the news broke. Red flagged now so presumably they'll stop
Open ControlsYup, that flag went on fast.
Open Controls
245 net transfers in, in the last hour.
Open Controls
My lineup for this week:
Foster
Gibbs Baines GJohnson
Cazorla Pienaar BenArfa Sterling
Defoe VanP Jelavic
Bring it on boys!Open ControlsEurope ftw.
Open ControlsAfternoon lads, do we think Perch will play at RB again or is Simpson fit enough to start?

Both my h2h opponents this week have Berbatov, hopefully they'll take hits to cancel out mine. GreenWindmill is back in the game 😀
