Yes, we know this week’s battle for the armband is done and dusted. With 86% of the votes cast, Luis Suarez is the undisputable favourite as Liverpool prepare for the visit of Cardiff on Saturday. The Uruguayan is hunting his fifth successive double-figure haul at Anfield and it’ll be a brave, or perhaps desperate, Fantasy manager who goes against the grain. Once again, our midweek regular for members sifts through the statistics to ascertain whether there really is anyone else worth considering:
Lukaku isn't that small
Open Controls
Here's what I have for this gameweek. How does it look? Brunt, Vlaar and Clyne will become Cabaye, Mertesacker and Ward in the next few weeks.
Krul
Chester, Flanagan, Coleman
Brunt, Ramsey, Hazard, Ozil
Lukaku, Rooney (v), Suarez (c)
Subs: Harper, Bannan, Vlaar, ClyneOpen ControlsI'm very much reaching to find a positive gloss to this Rooney news in light of my uncharacteristically early transfer, but could the flag be a blessing for owners? If I'd held fire on my transfer I certainly wouldn't get him now, and bringing him in this week could still be the right move. It's just a shame we're unlikely to get any reliable info before the deadline.
Open ControlsMy gut feel is.... He'll play.
PS -I also did the early trade 🙄Open ControlsSo did I. After getting rid of him for Lukaku last week. 🙂
Open ControlsHaha. I know.
Felt it was the right, if not the popular, move at the time. I still think Lukaku will out score Rooney over the next few games. But yeah, sore one having to use a transfer to bring him straight back in.Open Controls
To be honest, I don't even think he's injured. I think Moyes was just covering himself in case they didn't get a result without him. I expect him to play at the weekend. I could be wrong of course, just my take on it.
Open ControlsYeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all smoke and mirrors
Open Controls
I think he will play and i am happy that his flag will prevent further transfers in. People are removing him already which is good 😉
Open ControlsYou're not realistically going to captain him this week anyway so that's not worry and there's a good chance there's nothing to this injury.
I wouldn't worry.
I do feel a lot better about not having him now though!Open ControlsUsed the early transfer too but I think he'll play. If Moyes had said he was resting him and then we'd got beaten all hell would have broken loose. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but it still feels ok to me although I would be happier if Clyne was fit as that would make my bench a little stronger.
Open ControlsI am another who did the early transfer. I don't need the stress of him maybe not playing !! 😆
Open Controls
I don't think anyone would have held back considering the 0.5m swing with Aguero dropping and Rooney rising. Will just have to see what happens, Aguero > Negredo owners the only one who can be positive really. I personally think Rooney will play anyway.
Open Controls
With aguero injured , who should i bring in for these gameweeks, i have suarez n lukaku ... can anyone suggest ? 🙂
Open ControlsI brought in Negredo
Open ControlsNegredo looks like too much of a rotation risk to me. City mids look like better choices.
I'm looking to get Yaya in as he's on pens and is nailed on.Open ControlsYeah not a bad shout. I still think he's the best option for goals and the extra money from not getting rooney allowed me to have Walcott over Bacuna so it was kinda win win for me
Open Controls
narrowed my kosc replacement down to 2
jags....double up on eve def (have coleman) for great fix, baps machine
rafeal......also great fix, better attacking threat, great diff, but is he nailed on starter?
who gets your vote?Open ControlsI'll be interested in smarty pants top 1k stats this week...
Captain.
Suarez - 100%
I can't imagine anyone in top 1k not having him and throwing him the armband.
Could this be the week of the maverick captain differential ???Open ControlsI had an accumulator on to return £450 had there been a 3rd goal in the Madrid game last night which never happened. I just realised it was 5/1 for no 3rd goal at HT. Those of you who like a punt would you have automatically placed that bet to cover you? Feel like I missed out there.
Open ControlsI do like a punt but wow £450 is outa my league. Too right I would have covered that bet, it would be crazy not too, in fact I always look at fix to work out my bets and on the Sunday 4PM game cover if my acca is winning.
Open Controls
Assuming there are no other injury scares at the weekend is Williams to JEvans a good move.
Rest of the team is
Howard, Davis,
Mert, Coleman, Chester, Clyne, Williams
silva, Hazard, Wally, Ramsey, JWP,
Suarez, Lukaku, Rooney
Or should the priority be to replace JWP with WhittinghamOpen ControlsBenchees correct? Anything worth a hit iyo?
.
Pantilimon [ful]
Coleman [swa] - Bardsley [NOR] - Gabbidon [NEW]
Hazard [ars] - Silva [ful] - Michu [EVE] - Ramsey [CHE]
Rooney [WHM] - Suárez [CAR] (c) - Berbatov [MCI]
Lewis - Redmond [sun] - Shaw [TOT] - Chester [wba]
+4.9m, 0ft
.
Next week I'm doing the obvious Michu->Wally. Then maybe get Baines for a hit because of the cash...Open ControlsThat would be breaking the rules 🙂
You don't think Spurs will score? Setting up with two strikers last night kind of shows a new attacking mentality.Open Controls
Baines def back for game after?
Open ControlsHe could be back this weekend. So I assume he'll be playing next week. Obviously I'll monitor.
Open Controls
Consider Redmond to Mirallas if youre concerned about Rooney as an alternative for next weeks transfer. I think he'll outscore berba thisvweek too but probably not worth the hit.
Open ControlsBerba (where's the slaps forehead emoticon?) 🙂
Open ControlsWe'll see. Boxing day onwards, he'll be a machine 😉
Hey, you're a member! You should know how strong an option he is 😉Open ControlsI am and think he has a chance just not this weekend. Even so I don't think he'll outscore Wally over the next 7/8 game weeks.
Open ControlsYeah, he's great at penalties. But will he get one every GW? 😉
Looking for a cheaper option I'd have gone for J-Rod or Hooper. They can find the back of the net from open play:)Open Controls
Current attack is Suarez, Aguero, Remy
Deciding on an Aguero replacement is doing my head in. I finally decided on Rooney but now he's suspect. Not really keen on Lukaku as he looks pretty ineffective lately. The next best option is Negredo but with Fulham away this week I'm having 2nd thoughts & not 100% convinced. That leaves the lower priced options like Hooper, Welbeck, Chamakh & Rodriguez & out of those I like Welbeck but people have warned me off him. I might not do anything & play 2 up front.Open ControlsAguero's price is dropping like a stone, though. What about a punt on Hooper and free up loads of funds so to bolster your midfield ?
Open ControlsI don't see the attraction of doing nothing personally, I like the idea of Hooper and playing five good midfielders but took the easy way out and went for Rooney earlier in the week and now am hoping there's nothing wrong with him.
Open Controls
hav Suarez as Cap n Rooney as VCap ..... just imagine the joke given Rooney has 75% chance n Suarez is rested
Open ControlsSuarez has 0% chance of being rested
Open Controls
Villa expect Rooney up front, make plans to deal with him, then he's played in midfield. Get's thrashed.
West Ham expect Rooney out...
Seems tactical to me 😉
(desperate owner)Open ControlsHope he pulls through, even though I ain't a fan !! 😆
Who is that tasty chick in your profile pic, dude? 🙂Open ControlsJenna-Loiuse Coleman.

Szczesny | Davis
Coleman - Chester - Ward | Terry - Luna
Cabaye - Hazard - Ramsey - Silva | Ravel
Lukaku - Rooney - Suarez (c)
GW18: Terry & Ramsey > M.Olsson & Walcott (-4)
GW19: Luna > Evans
Thoughts?Open ControlsVery good team. I would possibly change Terry (very few Chelsea CS recently) and Luna (woeful in last game, Villa concede without Vlaar)
Open ControlsCheers mate. Spot on! Will ditch Terry next week and do Ramsey > Walcott seeing as I only recently bought him at 7.5
Open ControlsI have Terry as well but next week they have Swansea at home. I know it's a longshot but Chelsea could get a cs. I'm doubtful but it could happen like Liverpool last week.
Open Controls
- Open Controls
That is the sort of comment makes me just want to take hit after hit and pick players based on who has the nicest hair.
Open ControlsI have a spreadsheet for that too
Open Controls
I saw this, it looks excellent. I haven't had time to sit down and really check it out or explore the possibilities though. I've always wanted to do this type of thing using things like big chances and shots in the box but never got round to it.
I have it bookmarked for a rainy/snowy day 😉Open Controls
10 matches without a goal, agbonlahor suspended, good chance of kozak cramping his style. yet, YET i think this is finally the week benteke remembers where the goal is. gw17, benteke returns
Open ControlsI said that for about 7 weeks in a row. What a complete clusterf**k getting him in was. 😡
Open Controls
Its difficult to have a team whose spine consists of
Baines
Hazard- Silva - Ramsey- Walcott
Suarez - Rooney - Lukaku
Unless I double up on the Everton defenders and go uber cheap at the back, can't have that teamOpen ControlsI think it is but you're looking at 4 x 4.0 defenders and a sub 4.5 keeper like Mannone or Mcgregor.
Open ControlsIn which case I think it's worth it.
My def is getting cheaper and cheaper.
Will have three 4.0m defs at the weekend.Open ControlsI already do 😯 wasn't entirely planned but i was trying to build up a bank to get Walcott and Silva in eventually.
Guess it's back to the tried and tested cheap def, heavy mid.Open Controls
i have that front 7......also doubled up on eve def
Open Controls
Why you should (C) Suarez..
Everyone is gonna (C) him.
Simple.Open Controlsi think he'll get the most points. screw other people
Open Controls+1. I'd be captaining him even if everyone else jumped ship.
Open Controls
That's not the reason. What anyone else does with their team, does not affect your personal points total.
Pick him because you think he will score the most points.
If you think a lower owned player will score more then great, expect to jump the ranks. Suarez is a no brainer this week though.Open Controls
Already have:
Coleman - Vlaar - Gabbidon - BurnerOpen ControlsSunderland rotate OK fixture wise with Villa up until the WC, so maybe Bardsley? Play Coleman each week obviously and one of Gabby/Burner & Vlaar/Bardsley?
Open ControlsYeah was thinking Brown, but every one reckons Bardsley is a better shout.
What about Chester or Ward?
Cheers Cinnamon...Open ControlsHull's only good fixtures in the next 7 coincide with Vlaar's anyway, and doubling up on Palace defenders may be going too far?
Open Controls
Coleman and (NEW SOT SUN NOR WHM STO HUL) (NOR CPL SWA AVL ful SOT STO) for the next 7 weeks looks OK...
Open ControlsThis ^^
Open Controls
Olsson
Open Controls
So still haven't made my Aguero transfer.
I'd be mad to go Rooney right? Have to go Negredo?
I think dogpig will start.Open ControlsRemember Southampton's defence last season without Wanyama? Shocking.
Seems to be happening again. When is he due back?Open ControlsIt's a combination of Clyne/Fonte/Boruc/Schneiderlin/Wanyama being out that's turned it to shit recently.
Open ControlsWas thinking of going back to Sot def (Shaw) now there fixtures start to improve....
Open ControlsI've held Shaw since gw1 through all his bullshit. Time to reward my loyalty by staying fit 😉
Open Controls
Over-simplification. They started getting some clean sheets when Pocchetino took over and their defence looked better and better as they got used to his system. Cork and Schneiderlin in particular formed an excellent centre midfield partnership at the end of last season. Making it rather confusing that they chose to spend so much money on Wanyama instead of elsewhere.
Open ControlsSome time in mid January is the last thing I saw about him
Open Controls
Worth a -8 hit for terry + ravel --------> distin + walcott?
Otherwise I'll have to play 2 from Rooney (poss inj), Clyne (poss inj), Ravel, JWP & BurnerOpen Controlspointless comment i kno but had van persie not been injured i think he'd have seen some action right now, given the injuries elsewhere
Open Controlsya reckon? 😛
Open ControlsAt 13.7 he'd still be too expensive for most. Those on the Aguero bandwagon would have to find £2m or so just to get a chance to kick his tyres
Open ControlsHe'd be in my team 100%
Open ControlsAt some point he'll be a killer differential. Get the timing wrong and you're screwed though considering his price
Open Controls
Is playon good?
Open ControlsI like it cause you can choose a different set of players every week, Also choose players you don't have in your FPL team, so less of a blow when they score/CS/assist etc.
Also Julian Dicks is rubbish, easy money.
Pricing takes a bit of getting use to, otherwise it's good fun.Open Controls
Is this worth a -4 hit. Will leave with 2.3
Aguero out, Negredo in
Clyne out, Flannagan in
Mignolet
Jags, Mert, Flannagan
Ozil, Ramsey, Hazard, Cabaye
Suarez (c), Negredo, Remy
Boruc, Oviedo, Terry, BurnerOpen Controlsif they try blood-spinning on rooney they may end up with curly fries
Open ControlsPlay Bacuna (Stk A) OR Redmond (Sun A) ??
