Season Tickers Updated – Preview Video Released

The newly release Season Ticker fixture analysis tool has now been refreshed with a couple of bug fixes and the default team ratings have been updated.

Fixture difficulties and cell colours on the free Next Six Ticker are updated, while our Members can utilise new default ratings for the “Overall”, “Attacking” and “Clean Sheet” filters. So, if you’ve run through some early analysis of the fixtures released on Friday, you may want to refer back to your tickers on the frontpage sidebar.

We’ve also released a new video which previews the features of the Members ticker for those looking to get a better view of what this tool can offer – the Members’ Ticker being just one of the benefits of signing up for next season…

The following bug fixes were applied to the Members’ Ticker…

  • Fixed a bug where team ratings were not updating in real-time in ticker in some browsers.
  • Fixed a bug where the export text file failed to reflect edited team ratings
  • Fixed a bug where rollover display of difficulty was returning the wrong value.

We will bringing our Members some in-depth analysis of the fixtures in our first Members only articles of the pre-season later this week.

If you’re yet to sign-up and want to know more on the features included in the Members Ticker, we’ve created a brand new video offering a glimpse of what’s on offer.

This will be the first of several video previews demonstrating the features on offer in our Members area so, if you fancy getting news of these in future, you can now subscribe to our fancy YouTube channel.

Memberships for the 2011/12 Season are now available for a pre-season “Early Bird” price of £12.50.

Existing registered users can upgrade to a Member via this link. Those users yet to register can register as Members via this link. All payments are handled via Paypal.

Did the issue get fixed where the ticker would update to next week on the day of the new gameweek? Nothing like going to make some last minute changes (Saturday morning) and seeing next gameweeks fixtures...

Mark – in the 2009/10 season there were lots of enhanced odds specials from PaddyPower. I seem to remember that at the start of the 2010/11 season when membership started one of the benefits was more of these offers and you’ve put on the membership benefits this year that there will be exclusive betting offers for members again.

Last year I can only remember one offer – enhanced odds on Man U to beat Chelsea I think it was. And I can’t remember if that was exclusive to members or not. There was the Last Man Standing competition as well which was good, and the cup.

Any idea whether more of those offers are likely this year? After the number of them in 2009/10 I was expecting the same last year.

Yep, we had an exclusive Last Man Standing compo for Members last season. There were fewer enhanced for all last season but if we partner with Paddy again this season, we will push for more of these.

Our Betting partner is not yet decided for next season so the range of offers available is not yet clear. It's one of the things that Chris "Elfozzie" is discussing with potential partners right now. We will have more news on this to come.

Love the new ticker Mark - only gripe is, couldn't it be a bit brighter ? Or at least change the fonts to white as some of the darker boxes are quite hard to read ?

Also, why do we have to sign in again when we go to the members section even though we are already signed in on the free section ?

Great work from all of you's though, keep it up...

They had a report on Vagazzling from a specialist waxing parlour, followed by a heavy weight debate between Jeremy Paxman, 2 feminists and 'former protitute' Belle du Jour on whetehr the new trend for women to shave their intimate reasons was oppressive and mysogenistic.

I'm starting to think I halucinated it.

Opening day of the season… you’ve picked a player that you know won’t play (or hope!) and make him captain. For your emergency captain strategy you select ‘form’ as the criteria. What happens then?

I’ve read people on the internet saying that last year your captain then becomes whoever in your team scored the most on the opening day of the season. Hopefully FPL will disable picking form for the opening gameweek and I’ll not have to think about this and stupidly have a player in my squad who doesn’t play.

Has this been discussed? Anyone know what’s what? Getting a good start to the year captain wise does sound nice.

Drogba was your most expensive player (highest value), that's why he got the armband. You just got lucky that the highest value player was the highest scoring.

I had a great opening week last year. Drogba captain at last minute. I've no idea how the emergency captain works, but it would make sense that it goes to who gets the most points, since they're the form player for that week. Either that or it rolls back to last season?

Your captain will go to 'value' instead, as form will be zero for every player (it's form BEFORE the game week starts), and so will be tied, and revert to the other emergency captain rule which is value.

It seems that´s the game bug I don´t know if FPL will fix it this year by not letting you choose form as captain emergency strategy in GW1..either way keep it too yourself..besides implies another substitution later.

Perhaps it's not a bug though... maybe everyone just thoguht it worked that way because Drogba became captain but it was just because he was expensive, and nothing do with his score.

I might just create a team made up of 6 million players and captain an injured player to see what happens.

        But probably not!

Clean sheets appear difficult to come by during the first few months. Long term they're worth it.

Changes at Chelski make things insanely tough to gauge. Suppose the pre-season games will give us a better picture. Cole/Luiz both look interesting options.

Christina - If De Gea is cheaper than Vidic, I might just opt for him.

Thing is the big money(especially early on) when most managers will still be interested in doing transfers will be made on the high scoring forwards & mids.

Think I might bring in one expensive / attacking def and go cheapish for the balance.

Depends how you measure the value o a player. Past performance? Potential? Age? Length of contract x wages? Or a mixture of all?

A player is only worth what a club is willing to pay. There comes a point when an offer is just to ludicrous to decline. City should go for him. As a football fan I'd be surprised if they didn't at least try.

Counting that huge pile of money? Time for them to state their ambitions & be bold.

They've got quiet a few players to shift out. That plus the Financial Fair Play rules kicking in is having a serious bearing on the transfer market.

Financial Fair Play rules kicking in should be one more reason for them to go for broke before that.

But I agree they must be in the Dark Room preparing the Master Plan plus kicking out some players..

Knowing they (surely) must be willing to take losses, the canny clubs will be making below market value offers on their players. Surely worth a cheeky try eh?

Man, eBay is taking the piss here... They've increased the cost of buy it now to 10% of the value you sell for.

That's around 4 times what it currently costs. At the moment they're the only game in town, but not for long with that kind of shit.

I'm going to be brave and hold on to my wild card until near the end of the season. When it gets to April/May, there are always injuries or players performing much better, aswell as double gameweeks. Last season I used it early and it wasn't much use.

"Opening day of the season… you’ve picked a player that you know won’t play (or hope!) and make him captain.

Getting a good start to the year captain wise does sound nice."

And no, the "highest scorer is made captain" is untrue. They just got lucky that Drogba was the highest scorer AND most expensive.
