The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Four – Resumption

Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

        Half a season spread to look at, points per minute gives a better indication than the points per game stat FPL show I think.
        
        Hasn't really changed my opinion on any players doing this just reinforced my selection thoughts.

        Bale missing out on value really, having Fellaini in instead lets me have a stronger team all round.

        Begovic is however 2nd in the keepers list with 4.43

  PPM x 90 is so flawed though and favours Solksjaer type players from the bench.
  
  For example, if a player scores once in every 3 games starting from the bench (and plays 20 mins in each game), then it looks like he scores a goal every 60 minutes. From an FPL point of view, it’s 1,1,5.

    I agree, I do find it useful picking my midfield though seeing which 4 out of the big 5 provide the best value.
    
    Think it can be useful in the opposite of your point, looking at regular starters returns. Give a better view than Points Per Game anyway I think.

  Interesting. RVP and Tevez the only players in the top ten with over 1000 mins. Of the rest walcott and Dzeko are now nailed on but the rest are unreliable starters.

  He'll get you zero attacking points and Saints will concede a rake of goals. Davies, Jones, Turner etc are better and cheaper options with a chance of attacking points.

Think I'm set on ignoring Demba and doing Nelsen > Luiz/Cole. Berb should be fine this week and I may very well want Tevez next.

Will captain Mata, but a big Demba score could be disastrous.

    All season I've been determined to avoid worrying about the players I don't have and focus on the ones I do. I have Berb, he's in form and has Wigan at home, not an easy game but he could do something. The defender option would be playing Cameron which would be cancelled out by Ba anyway, hrmm.

Tevez worth the 1.6m over Dzeko?

While Aguero is out I suppose it depends on whether Balotelli will be given another chance. Can see Tevez and Balotelli starting but not Dzeko and Balotelli.

Silva and Suarez to Mata and Ba is not a no brainer... neither does it imply you have no brain. Massive call but I have done it... Berb to Lambert too.... 😯

  I have Mata, Ba and Lambert so can't criticise, but are you considering Suarez back in next week vs Norwich? Can't see Ba playing regularly somehow.

    Good advice there. Sagna giving poor returns. Get another cheap defender other than Shaw cos Saints will concede in both games. Consider Harte to help you partly getting Gibbs over Sagna.

How does the squad look for the weekend? Hanging on to my WC but taken hits to make it happen. Think it will be worth it to have it for GW24. Will still have at least 4 players from both DGWs and think that should be sufficient.
