Moving Target

Moving Target – Danny Graham

Hull City boss Steve Bruce added to his forward options late last week by acquiring Danny Graham on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland. The former Swansea man is the club’s seventh signing of the summer and follows the likes of Allan McGregor, Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa and Ahmed Elmohamady to the KC Stadium as The Tigers prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Having fallen out of favour under Paolo Di Canio after just six months at Sunderland, Graham’s security of game time looks set for a significant increase in the season ahead. Judging by his new manager’s comments, it’s clear that Bruce – who has an option to make the deal permanent at the end of 2013/14 – is a huge fan of the 27-year-old:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

is mannone nailed on? genuine question cause i have no idea.

i feel like i already commented on this team 😛 i don't like baker 'cause of villa's fixtures, although might benefit you later on. prefer clyne to shaw. don't really understand the point of hazard currently, and i'm personally in the "ignore rvp at your peril" camp. also not 100% sure nasty will start every game.

    Those considering Mignolet (plus a 4m ) or even Boruc (plus a 4m) ;

just remember that the higher owned non playing 4m keepers are more likely to drop in price.

So avoid Given, Gazzaniga etc. as they will only inflict an annoying 0.1 loss when all the casuals realize they're non-starters.

I really like the look of Aspas, especially while Suarez is banned.

yeah this is a great point that i kept making last year. i always go for the lowest owned second keeper (as opposed to third keeper), so there's no danger of a price drop and a vague chance they might randomly get some starts.

Thanks for that. Palace, Hull and Cardiff's keepers look the best bet since they are 2nd choice by the looks of it and have a chance of game-time if the 1st choice keeper is injured.

I've got with Price, as it hints at the reason I selected him 😉

Market price about 15-20 now, compared to bentley at about 1.5 and they lost him for free.

Carroll is still an impressive player IMO, could still improve. Just bad timing and wrong system for him to go to Liverpool IMO.

And that also reminds me that isnt Torres most expensive for Chelsea? 😀

Chelseas defence as of right now, is probably the hardest one of all to predict to be fair. No idea between cahill terry ivano azpi luiz

Make sure Mannone is nailed on as you'll not be needing to be stuck with Boruc every week, as a red I have hopes for Aspas but I'm not sure about Anelka, if he gets the game time then he's more than capable of banging a few in for a cheap price, time will tell with that one.

All depends on what plan the manager has for Lamps especially game time, the price of Lamps over Hazzard is a tempter I'd hang fire for a couple for weeks to see what shape they may be taking. If I had to pick one it would be Hazzard.

K well, no need for 2 top end keepers. 1 at max paired with the best 4.5 keeper

Too much $ spent in the defense... 1-3 decent defenders paired with 2-3 cheapies

Bale is 100% needed for the midfield if you like it or not since he's 50% ownership. Pienaar is alright but there's better picks such as Snodgrass or someone who's more advanced or on dead balls. Siggy is a similar pick to Pienaar. AJ is Just meh, Arteta/Wally/Caz is the only Arse mids to consider and Nolan is perfectly fine.

Bony is a bit up in the air at the minute. Lukaku will have competition (although might start first game or 2 since Mourinho thinks the spanish lads will be rested.) Jeli might be off elsewhere + lots of better picks since Kony 2012 is at Everton

Good evening to all, my first preseason post, so I'll cut straight to chase :

    current team is :
    Vorm/Marshall
    Coleman/Delaney/Collins/Clyne/Chester
    Coutinho/Garvan/Mirallas/Bale/Koren
    Van Persie/Ruiz/Lukaku
    money in bank 1.5

Plan is simple - rotation between Collins/Clyne, Chester/Delaney and Koren/Garvan.
For rest of the players I think they will deliver big points in all season round-up. Vorm/Marshall rotation for GK's, Ruiz is the brain of Fulham, recent matches showed me that he is in good form too and I really hope this injuries will miss him through season. About Lukaku I share the opinion of thousands of other football fans that he is the new Drogba and this season might be his final move to become top class FW. RVP and Bale, no need to say anything more (unless Bale goes to Spain), Mirallas will give 100% of his possibilities because of the upcoming WC2014 and Coleman looks set to be one of OOP stars for this season.

So, any thoughts on team and where to spend extra 1.5 will be very appreciated 🙂

    Cheers mates !!

even if this is lukaku's breakthrough season, do you really think he's gonna be starting every game early on? particularly if they buy a top striker, as they're obviously planning to do (rooney or whoever else)

i don't think this team is too bad, some fun differentials and whatnot. vorm's gonna have to save shots like crazy to be worth your while though, their fixtures are diabolical.

I replied to your comment in down post, sorry 🙁

well, they already have 3 good FW (Torres, Ba and Lukaku) and if you look a bit down in the past, Mourinho always preferred one "tank", who is capable of creating chances for MF's (Drogba + Lamps, Sneijder + Diego Millito and Benzema + Ozil/CR7). From that list, it is clear Lukaku is the profile Mou needs. He acquired the expirience in WBA, his national squad is one foot in Brasil and this season he will give twice of his possibilities to impress Mou.

Vorm is, in my opinion, real heir of Van der Sar. Calm and secure GK, also has in mind battle for #1 spot in Dutch WC starting XI and he is better than Stekelenburg and Krul.

According to reports and news through post and preseason, they both look like good picks in CP's starting XI. Garvan is MF in the hole, on pens, corners and freekicks, and Delayney is budget DF (because, recent seasons thought me to invest as cheap as possible lineup). And both cost 9.5

Well CP does rotate nicely with Hull. However I'd be concerned about doubling up on them. You'd be hoping both teams to reasonably well especially at home. For a while I considered Gayle and Koren but chickened out when I realised I'd have to start one of them every week.

the rotation MF, that can become Blackpool's C.Adam v2.0 😀

Koren also has a lot of experience so I think he can make the difference in upcoming season.

So Jose said 4-2-3-1 could be a formation....

    Ivanovic - Cahill/Terry - Luiz - Cole
    Lamps - Ramires (Essien)
    Schurrle - Mata - Hazard (Oscar,Moses)
    Lukaku (Torres)

    Is that a likely team?

Obviously they have got a lot of attacking mid's but only a few defensive, does that mean that lamps will play most games?

i think chelsea will have a new striker by the time of gw1, and this lukaku stuff is wishful thinking, but you never know. i'd expect oscar to play rather a lot too, keep in mind he's in the brazil first team and his reputation is ASTRONOMICAL, even though IMO we've only seen flashes at chelsea so far. i can see him establishing himself as a regular quite easily in the next couple years.

azpilicueta will presumably get plenty of gametime too. and don't forget mikel, he's not gone anywhere just yet.

Interested in this myself and I'm either having Lamps/Hazzy come week 1 + Luiz if double is confirmed...

Jose says No one is guaranteed even JT 😮 (Cole/Cech the safest)

Hopefully lamps will get a spot in a DMF position beside either Ramires or Essien

and the 3 Attacking mids will be Hazzy Mata, Oscar, Moses, Shurrle and the likes

Jose also mentioned that the Spanish chaps may miss the opening game due to Intl duty - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/22/chelsea-juan-mata-fernando-torres

Serbia are away in Colombia at the same time as Spain are in Ecuador. Ivanovic as captain of Serbia is just as likely to miss the first Chelsea game. Could even have Essien as RB.
Japan also at home to Uruguay so could affect Kagawa.
Sometimes one can lose out though by thinking too much. 2 years ago I took Aguero out of my team due to being an injury doubt pre-season and he came off the bench to score 2 goals v the Swans. Same last year. Had Hazard last year for a month pre-season and then replaced him before game 1 when he became an injury doubt and he then got 3 assists I think.

So much dodgy and misleading statistical analysis floating around on here with stacks of up up-votes. Some have glaring oversights in the methods used, while others nonchalantly dismiss 'minor' factors which could actually have pretty significant implications. Don't trust the conclusions of the author just because the post looks impressive or like a lot of work went in it. I appreciate the effort that goes in, but putting a lot of work into it doesn't necessarily make it right or useful. Just keep a critical eye when you're reading them, because some of these posts are very misleading.

I have tried to go with a cheap defence, pricey midfield and Strikers approach; you get better value for money in attack as evidently proven.

    Mignolet (Nailed on?) (Davis)

    Garrido-Mertesacker-Clyne-(Whittaker)-(Baker)

    Walcott-Bale-Coutinho-Snodgrass-Hazard

    Lukaku(Nailed On?)-Sturridge (With Suarez suspended)-(Moore)

lukaku isn't nailed on. get rid of moore; i realise you're presumably benching him (he won't play), but the fact is he's owned by a lot of folks so may drop in price. if you're going for someone that cheap, get someone with less ownership.

Kenwyne Jones a West Brom target! This about to smack the crap out of my Anelka plan.

Long will start most of the time up front for WBA anyway. Anelka shouldn't be in anyones plans.

Morning DZ. Woke up this morning just to realize that Negredo & Jovetic have been added to the FPL Transfers. At 9.5m, can any of them become viable alternatives to Kun?

Nice defence and certainly good mid imo, too much uncertainly as this stage over all the strikers for me.

Evening / morning all, anyone mind answering a few questions...

    1. I've heard the bonus points have been altered slightly this season, what's changed with them?
    2. How long is Suarez suspended for
    3. Why is Villa's Baker in 20% of the teams, is he first choice now or something?
