KPI Analysis – Lambert and Rodriguez

Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

If Bale doesn't sign for RM before the start of the season how likely is he going to be playing GW1?

Pretty standard which isn't a bad thing. Aspas and Snodgrass are both a bit meh. Think you're better off starting with Collins over Cole and getting 1 of Lukaku/Oscar/Lampard in for Aspas/Snodgrass.

This is probably good advice, then you dont have to use a transfer taking out a defender but can use it to bring in the attacker who catches your eye in GW 2 or 3
Besides if carroll does well GW 1and 2 you wont want to take him out for Sot (H)

      7 from me
but thats purely cos I prefer Caz over Walcott, expect Apsas to underwhelm and think RVP is way overpriced.

      If I'm wrong on those 3 counts then its a 10 🙂

I personally don't like Aspas. He could very well be this season's Graham but that's just me.
Davis may drop in price after the first few gws as his ownership is huge and casuals who have got him start giving him the boot once they realise that he is not first choice.
Good defense and mf for a RVP team.
gw 3 Soldado also looks sensible as you get time to assess him.

Regarding Aspas, I have watched all of Liverpool's pre-season games and he has looked very sharp and has got into very good positions. I don't think he will be a 20+ goals man by any means, but if he keeps getting into those positions then I can see him easily getting 10-15 goals, and with Liverpool's early season fixtures and uncertainty over Sturridge (fitness) and Suarez (everything) then I think he will be pretty good value at 7m!

    Hello everyone!

I am posting the updated version of my spreadsheet tonight because I won't be on for long in the morning. There have been new players added including Soldado and Lugano. New 'VS' are added between the likes of Silva and Coutinho. There is also a new sheet comparing the 4.5 mids for choosing that 5th mid.

Hot topiced last week which saved reposts - will repost if not hop topiced tonight!

    Adrian (boruc)
    Luiz, Toure, Coleman, Collins (brayford)
Hazard coutinho Walcott ( Kim, Mirallas)
    Aspas Lukaku benteke

Yup, I have a plan to get him in gw3 or 4.
That plan works with players current prices and ends 0.0 in the bank.
So in other words, I don't have a plan that will work.

In three words please tell me the Defender, Midfielder and striker we MUST have this season...

Mine would currently be Coleman, Silva and Bony.

No player is a 'must have' imo. It all depends on form/fixtures/OOP/captaincy choices etc.

Giroud might not even be nailed on. Arsenal are likely to sign a new striker. I don't know when, but we will.

Its a landmine JK. In my opinion, just get a defender. We are very good at set pieces and our defenders do seem to get some attacking returns. And with Mou on board, you can also expect some clean sheets.

I think this would be our front for Hull

      Schurrle Oscar Hazard
      Lukaku

      Hazard Mata Moses/Schurrle/Oscar
      Torres

Anything could happen really. Hazard looks the most nailed on to me.

        I reckon I'll be taking a hit GW2

not fancying Cech or Cole, and let's be honest the rest of the defence is a risk as well. Would rather take a risk with an attacker, more upside

Not really. Luiz looks nailed on to me. And Terry does too. I can't see Mourinho not starting JT in the first few weeks at least, when he has been so fit in pre season.

Think its got to be Oscar or Lampard. Oscar for a better chance of 2 starts and the CAM spot. Lampard for the potential of a big haul at home to easy opposition ala Kolarov.

He had the PERFECT chance to slyly take out Clichy tonight, and he FAILED

I might switch between them mid-season.
Going for 3-4-3 for now. Soldado, Lukaku and Negredo. Will get in the new Arsenal striker too. 3 strikers seem essential to me ATM.

        Really curious on your opinion

wouldn't you prefer Silva to Negredo out of the gate to see what happens?
Wait and see how Tottenham look post Bale and if Soldado settles well?

I like Lukaku for the 2GW punt and then will likely exit once I get a look at how the teams look

I'm at a Big 5 MF with Giroud and Lukaku

I usually like 343 but really, really believe there is more value at 352 out of the gate this year. Too many of the strikers feel risky/bad starts (Benteke, the City guys, N'wich guys, Bony/soldado, etc.).

Feel that Hazard/Walcott/Coutinho/Silva (for the early run)/Mirallas are much, much safer bets. I'm currently thinking 352 with Gayle as my bench fodder (he's got a fine start for GW3 when we need a bench)
