The Weekend Team News

Laurent Koscielny is ruled out for Arsenal. Ross Barkley is nearing a return for Everton. West Ham welcome back Mark Noble against Burnley, who are boosted by the availability of Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier. Fabian Delph emerges as a doubt for Villa, but Ron Vlaar is fit again. Mame Diouf and Victor Moses return to training for Stoke, while Hugo Lloris and Nacer Chadli remain doubts for Spurs.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Seamus Coleman, Steven Pienaar and James McCarthy are all “very close to being available” for the weekend, having missed recent outings through injury. The Everton boss also delivered positive news on Ross Barkley confirming the youngster had “reacted really well” in training following a serious knee injury, though admits it’s too early to tell if Barkley will be involved against Aston Villa.

Laurent Koscielny has added to Arsenal’s injury concerns ahead of the home clash with Hull. Arsene Wenger confirmed that the defender won’t be in contention tomorrow but revealed he won’t need surgery on his troublesome Achilles. Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsey is expected to return for Champions League duties in midweek, Mikel Arteta is available once again, while Tomas Rosicky “should be available” after sustaining a knock on international duties. Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry have both made a return to full training following long-term injuries, though Wenger has quashed suggestions that either player could be available for the Tigers clash.

West Ham are set to be boosted by the return of Mark Noble from a calf injury. The midfielder has “trained most of this week, so he should be fine”, according to Sam Allardyce. Enner Valencia returned late from international duty and will be monitored, though Allardyce expects the forward to be fine to play against Burnley.

Sean Dyche has confirmed that David Jones, Kieran Trippier, Danny Ings and Nathaniel Chalobah are all in contention for the weekend after recovering from recent injuries. Midfielder Dean Marney remains “touch and go”, while the Clarets Michael Keane (knee) will be assessed and Steven Reid misses out with a minor groin problem.

Villa’s Ron Vlaar is available once again after recovering from a calf injury, though Paul Lambert has revealed that Philippe Senderos is a doubt with a thigh strain. Midfielder Fabian Delph injured his shoulder during the week and is also doubtful for the Toffees clash, though the Villa boss could welcome back Christian Benteke to the starting XI. When pressed on the Belgian’s starting prospects, Lambert revealed that Benteke is “in the squad, and there’s a good chance.”

Alan Pardew has quelled fears that Tim Krul could be sidelined for a period of time with a shoulder problem, by revealing that the Dutch stopper is fit to face Leicester this weekend. Full-backs Daryl Janmaat and Paul Dummett will also be available after recovering from their respective knocks. Meanwhile, the Magpies boss confirmed Gabriel Obertan will retain his place in the starting XI against the Foxes.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf should both be fit for the weekend, following recent thigh and hamstring problems respectively. Glenn Whelan though, has emerged as a doubt after coming off against Germany in midweek with a knee problem.

Nacer Chadli (hip) and Hugo Lloris (groin) are Mauricio Pochettino’s main injury concerns ahead of the early Saturday kick-off at the Etihad. Emmanuel Adebayor and Nabil Bentaleb are likely to be monitored, having not yet returned from their midweek international trips.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

    Good to go?

    Krul
    Baines/Naylor/Bertrand
    Sanchez/Fabregas/Sterling/ADM
    Costa(C)/Welbeck/Ulloa

    Bench: Foster/Marney/PVA/Wisdom

1 FT, 0.4 ITB. Couple of decisions:

    A) Am I right to play Naylor over PVA?
    B) Who to captain? Costa seems safe, but Sanchez and Welbeck are tempting me (backed up by RMT)

Yes, but the point is, it is all irrelevant, as Innsie himself makes clear.

Furthermore, it is quite clear that not all at Everton are fully firing. When they do, he will be swamped.

I am thinking about selling Lovren for Jagielka. Everton fixtures are great and I also think Jagielka can work as a "blocker" against all baines or Coleman owners. Sure he does not have their attacking appeal but at least if evertons clean sheets, competitors won't score 4-5 more point than you.

Most players don't use much foresight and use previous points totals to make decisions. When sorting by their budget of say 4.2m, they see Duff at the top. Most proven, most points, so they buy him.

    5. Piggs Boson
      • 12 Years

He has the highest number of points for his price range. Simple really.

3 CSs and 4 bonus points is decent for a player of his price.

Would really appreciate some help on this:

Did Sadio Mané play for Senegal on wednesday? Do you think he will play for Southampton tomorrow? Or will Long take his place?

    Thanks!

Mané played the full game Wednesday night. He was doing lots of running and received a few rough tackles.

My personal view is that he won't start, but I may be wrong, and frequently am 🙂

Yes. So he has an extra day of recovery over Mane.

I watched the Senegal match and Mane was running a lot for the full 94 mins. He may well start, but there is enough reasonable doubt not to take the risk imo.

    Siggy ADM Haz Fab Sterling

    Pelle Welbeck Costa

Ideally need to downgrade one of these so I don't have points on the bench every week and to free some funds for the likes of Baines/Aguero, who is the most dispensable?

Think it has to be a midfielder as 3-4-3 is the way forward but I don't really want to get read of any of them!

    1. Villan

For sure has to be a mid. Downgrading Siggy to a 4.5 gives you an awesome frontline. If you want Baines?Chelsea defender I'd downgrade Fab as no need to have both him and Hazard imo

As good as he is id gamble on getting rid of fabregas. Youve got 3 chelsea. David jones from burnley is a good option as a 4.5 and back fit this week. Leave pelle for his 2 good home fixtures though!

    Bleh. Any advice?

    Krul (Elliot)
    Terry Wilson Naylor (Bruce Chambers)
    Fabregas DiMaria Sterling Siggy (Marney)
    Costa Falcao Pelle
    Bank: 2 FTs and 0.3m

Big problems seem to be my uber-cheap and uber-shit keeper pair and Alex Bruce. I really couldn't care less about GKs as long as I have one starting so reluctant to use a transfer there. Might just do Bruce > Duff.

Does anyone know what the crack is with Obertan? Is he going to be nailed on from now on?

I have 2FT and no pressing issues, so I'm looking for the best midfield bench fodder to replace Albrighton.

On the subject of is Baines worth it, my thoughts :-

Everton's defence has been shocking so far and they have only delivered one clean sheet so far. However, even with this poor record and him surprisingly missing a penalty he is still the 7th best scoring defender!

So with this kind run after some horrific fixtures they are sure to get some clean sheets and Baines is sure to get more attacking points. I agree with the school of thought that with his attacking mentality and set plays that he is almost like an extra midfielder. So for me he is

Struggling to find the best way to use 2 FTs, I need some opinions. Current midfield ADM, Sterling, Downing, Tadic, Boyd.

    A) Considering Arsenal and Liverpool will have weak defences i am considering buying Diame instead of Downing or Tadic. 0.2 cheaper and he has proved he can score. And very low ownership helps

    B) I want to get rid of Sterling. Extremely high ownership and possible rest or early substitute. I may bring Lallana to have a Liverpool cover for great fixtures with low ownership or Cazorla, whose role will be much more attacking than before.

I may also do Downing + Tadic + Sterling out Diame + Cazorla + Lallana for -4. Thoughts?

This is my team from WC before 6th GW and i cant still find anything to change, last year i saved FT just once. For 4.5 i cant find one. I would prefer to find 0.1 somewhere and get Guzan next week for Heaton. Mannone is giving save points so he is worth keeping i believe.

Fair play. I'll probably bring in Mannone myself at some point this season. If you want to squeeze out 0.1 from somewhere, I would consider downgrading Taylor. Apart from GW9, you probably won't play him until GW13 anyway.

P.S: you might want to update your team link.
