Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 9 – Monday

Charlie Austin grabs both goals and Eduardo Vargas bags an assist as QPR see off Villa 2-0 at Loftus Road. Paul Lambert’s side fail to score for the fifth successive league match as popular budget option Alan Hutton misses out with an ankle complaint.

Austin at the Double
The R’s frontman was partnered by Bobby Zamora and scored twice as Harry Redknapp’s side climbed off the bottom with a vital home win over Villa. Owned by just 0.3% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers heading into last night’s encounter, Austin’s brace underlined how increasingly influential he’s becoming in recent matches – that’s three goals and an assist in his last four, compared to a single strike in the first five Gameweeks. With back-to-back showdowns against Chelsea and City in the next two, it’s fair to say few will be looking at the R’s right now, but with Newcastle, Leicester, Swansea and Burnley from Gameweek 12 onwards, the 5.7-priced Austin may yet persuade some he could be worthy of the outlay.

Vargas in the Points Once More
Having emerged from the bench to notch twice against Liverpool, the Chilean was handed a starting role on the right last night before moving up top in light of Zamora’s withdrawal. After teeing up Austin for the second, Vargas took his tally to two goals and a pair of assists in his last three appearances, but at 6.4, few will be willing to consider him over Austin, given that the latter also has spot-kick duties to bolster his appeal.

Ferdinand Benched Again
The centre-half was a sub against Liverpool last time around after sustaining a minor groin problem prior to the match. Despite his availability for last night’s encounter, Redknapp continued with Richard Dunne alongside Steven Caulker and was rewarded with a second clean sheet of the season, suggesting Ferdinand’s pitch time is in real danger, with his 4% of FPL owners looking for a way out.

Another Blank for Villa
The signs look ominous for the Midlands outfit after they failed to score for the fifth successive Gameweek last night. To some extent, it was understandable that Paul Lambert’s side had drawn blanks against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Everton but hopes were high of a turnaround at Loftus Road, given that their hosts had conceded at least twice in six of the previous seven. Christian Benteke and co. once again failed to impress, and with Spurs, West Ham and Southampton in the next three, Fantasy faith in Villa’s main men is unlikely to pick up anytime soon.

Hutton Worry for Lambert
An ever-present over the first eight Gameweeks for Villa, the right-back was sidelined due to an ankle problem last night. Hutton is the most popular cut-price defender in the FPL game – now up to 4.2, he currently sits in over 13% of sides after serving up three clean sheets in the first four. Having conceded 13 goals and earned his owners four points in the subsequent five, a possible spell on the sidelines could be the ideal opportunity to part company with the Scot as Villa’s toils continue.

    Best Southampton midfielder, considering value-for-money?
Tadic seems nailed on, Mane may or may not be a flash in the pan, Schneiderlin is reliable, but not explosive.

Watched Mane at the weekend at St Mary's and he was the best player on the pitch imo. He looks great and with like 0.2% ownership last time I looked.

Need to get Hazard/Oscar/Fabregas in now as I have only 1 Chelsea player in Ivanovic.

    Whiach Midfielder should I shift?

Di Maria Siggy Silva Downing Brunt

All have done so well for me thus far, but Im not sure if Siggy will be in the points for much longer.

is it worth shipping out siggy over the next 3GWs for someone like barkley? swa have awful fixtures while eve's are top of the league.

do we think barkley will be starting from this weekend? if so, you'd have to imagine that he'll outperform siggy over the 3, making a swap back financially feasible after swa's bad fixtures have passed.

it would be for free and i have exactly enough to bring in a 6.7 mid (barkley's 6.7).

    thanks!

Anyone going for bargain/ ultimate differentail/ OOP/ bench material/ 5th defender AKA Yun

He plays for QPR. HE is 3,9. He started last 2 and was praised on. Also on forums fans thought he was MoM. Probable lineup

    ------ Dunne Ferdinand Caulker -----
    Isla ----------------------------------Yun

They got the CS last night with him in the side. Fixtures after che and MCI are:
new LEI swa BUR eve WBA ars CPL SWA bur

I know he plays for QPR but those home games are yummy. He might be needed...

don't see why you would ditch to be honest.

clyne is a season keeper. as is Pelle. Tadic is a little up in the air but that is based on his returns so far. He would be the first I would loose but Southampton have been amazing so far and could easily finish top6 in the league.

guess for me it is a matter of form over fixtures.

I don't like the idea of selling. Away at Everton is not as hard as it looks, they're still leaky and it was 3-2 last year. Then Swans at home could score against Arsenal. City is the one tough one, but after that he has a really good run.

I agree with you on the most part but I still think they'll find it difficult to score in those three. That said, the biggest worry is that Siggy doesn't seem to shoot at all and I'm not sure how long the Swans will keep up their conversion rate.

Stats comparison between Mane and him is quite interesting. Very similar in creativity but Mane seems to be further up the pitch and take more shots.

I just got rid. Fixtures look tempting, but he looks so static when he plays that I feel like he's already been found out at this level. He could well bag a brace at home against teams who let him cross it, but I've given up on bargain forwards after a couple of failed experiments.

Costa in full training today. Surprised EVS isn't planning to get him back. He's their main man, and in full training today will need to do something to aggravate his injury to not play vs QPR where going without him could do some serious damage.

A)Want to replace Siggy.. Have 3.0 in the Bank. Do you reckon Oscar or Ramsey will shine this week?
    B) Replace Ulloa with Welbeck and Play 3-4-3?

    Thoughts appreciated...

    Thanks

If Costa is out for 6 weeks at some point soon, will Drogba play and take Haz's spot-kicks?

Hazard is still on pens, Mourinho was not at all happy that Drogba took that one against Maribor. Drogba would also have Remy to compete with for pitch time when he's back.

Mourinho will kick Hazard's a*s if he let Drogba take spot-kick again

    Advice on this weeks move.

    A) ADM to Hazard for free
    B) Hold free transfer

Have no Costa but do have Ivan.

    Thanks!

I've just done Sterling to Silva. I hope it works.
