Monitor – Raheem Sterling

The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

      I would be more afraid of Hazard scoring big than Sanchez if i didn' own any of them.. but I would still captain Sanchez if I had to choose, simply because of the points they have gotten the last gameweeks

    Just as a matter of interest how do people vote on the Captains Poll on the front page?

    A lot of people seem to be getting or captaining Hazard out of fear he will 'explode.' If he does so, this will be an event without statistical precedence this season.

    Yes, he's playing very well. But even when Costa hasn't played, he's barely been shooting and not creating many chances. Chelsea could quite easily win 4-0, with Hazard playing very well, and on this season so far he might still do nothing.

    If he does score more than once, it seems certain that it'll be down to penalties. Because if he gets them, he isn't missing. But compared to the overall form of Aguero, Sanchez and Costa, this doesn't seem like something to count on.

      Personally I'm not captaining him, but I do think he's a good candidate if you believe Chelsea will annihilate QPR, as Fab has been increasingly invisible lately imo and Costa could be just as big of a gamble as Hazard..

    I'm a slightly regretful Costa seller, although there is still time to reverse the decision (i.e. this week now his value has dropped!)

    I'm thinking with the Christmas schedule on the horizon is it really worth rushing to get him back? especially with Chelsea league cup game on the 16th Dec, he's going to miss a few games.

    Mind you I was going to get hazard and with the depth in midfield he will probably get a few rests as well.

              Thing about Berahino is, don't you expect regression.

              Spurs went the Gareth Bale season without winning a penalty, this lad has already scored 3. He might not get one the entire season. And his conversion is through the roof (33% is last season Yaya toure standard)

      Absolutely not. I fancy Siggy to at least match downing in the coming weeks and outscore him over the season. Even if Downing does marginally better, saving the FT this week when Siggy plays a leaky Everton team seems like a much more sensible move.
